- Divriği is a small town and a district of Sivas Province of Turkey. The town lies on gentle slope on the south bank of the Çaltısuyu river, a tributary of the Euphrates river.
The Great Mosque of Divriği is on UNESCO's World Heritage List by virtue of the exquisite carvings and architecture of the building. The main entrance to the mosque is on the northern side and is marked by a tall portal absolutely amazing, due to the quality and density of its high-relief stone carving.
It is known as the Heaven Gate or the Paradise Portal because all of the decorations depict paradise. All of the verses in the Koran describing paradise and the blessings of paradise are engraved on the portal. Because they were describing paradise, the decorations were all the more wonderful and unique.
As for the canyon with its spectacular glass terrace, which makes you shiver when you step on the boundless ravine, it is worth crossing, for those who love heights ...
