  • If you called me a basic fall mom you wouldn’t be wrong! The best season is here and my fav activity is to switchover our capsule wardrobes! Every season I like to declutter, put away out of season items and bring out our autumn pieces. If you're doing this for the first time, I'm showing you how I do this step-by-step!

    Thank you, Ive just found your channel from your 10 item wardrobe video. Im trying to downsize my wardrobe, Ive stopped buying clothes which is a start. My problem is t shirts, I have 20 packed away in a small suitcase…but I tend to wear the same fav clothes over and over again.

      It sounds like you're on track with really effective tactics. Taking a pause on shopping is huge! It helps to detach your brain from the dopamine hit of shopping (not speaking from scientific understanding, just personal experience). As for packing T's away, it's one of my favorite approaches. Testing life without the thing helps us to safely explore life without it. If you feel strongly that you miss or need one of the T's then go get it. If you find yourself forgetting what's even in there, then let it go! The more time you spend away from something the easier that will be. You're doing great!

      Thank you, I feel like I need to be more ruthless with the t shirts, so will revisit them, as I will have forgotten what I have by the time summer comes around again.

    Just found you and watching all your videos, I really like your vibe. I love You've Got Mail too, I want her bookstore-before it tanked financially of course.

      Haha yes! I would live in that bookstore. The most magical and charming place.

    Oohhh how did your daughter take to the cutting off of the jammies feet? ( if you went ahead) also… Did you need to acquire special bedtime socks? ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

      Haha, no bedtime socks! I don’t end up doing it. I ran the idea past her and she passed, lol

    Hi! Love this concept. What do you do about loungewear/pajamas, workout clothes, intimates and coats? Are those outside of the 10 item rule?

    • @papertownhome
      @papertownhome  9 місяців тому

      Yes they are! Great question. Those fall into the "extras" which is a flexible category. I counted the other day and I have about 20 items in my extras which consists of pjs, exercise clothes, undershirts, etc. I don't count intimates though. Even before minimalism I kept a small collection of that kind of stuff so it never occurred to me to pay much attention to it. I'm also going to expand on this subject in my Oct. 23 video. I've made a few adjustments since shooting the wardrobe reset video.

      Thanks for answering this! I feel like some minimalist clothing videos are very much "I have one pair of paints, one t-shirt, and one pair of underwear" which at some point feels like you're trying to prove a point since it's so impractical!@@papertownhome

      Haha, yeah that would NOT work for me (or most of us). I wonder, do those examples fall into the extreme minimalist categories? Unless someone was a nomadic, living out of a backpack minimalist, I can't see any good reason to go that far with it. There's definitely value in owning less, but there are diminishing returns with the approach too. @@gabberna

      Love this video. It really makes things seem manageable. Could you expand on the diminishing returns idea, maybe another video? I am struggling to cut things down and seem to keep buying more as soon as I make a space. I have reduced but still feel that I have too much. It is taking a lot of time to cut down when I ping back up by shopping every now and again

    Please please tell me where you got that navy-ish dress with white flowers…. I’ve searched everywhere!

      Oh no! I got it a few years ago at TJ Maxx. But if I needed to replace it, I’d get one similar from Carly Jean Los Angeles. They have three or four that were a similar style!

      So true! 🤣 I even had that thought when I did it. Uhhh, this is not something I should do. Oh well, at least it was washable.
