- Glassblowers Michael Schunke and Josie Gluck of Vetro Vero demonstrate how to make a tall twisted optic handblown glass tumbler. The optic mold tumbler is a challenging exercise for technical glassblowing enthusiasts. This video shows both efficiency and proficiency, offering close-up views of the hot twist, the jack-line with ridges, and smooth opening of the lip. Maximizing heat and speed, the Goblet Ninja finishes the glass to a perfect cylinder, complete with crisp optics from base-to-lip.
If you are obsessed with glassblowing, you'll want to compare this optic tumbler to the Short Twisty Cup video as well. Note the differences between the two shapes, and the subtle adjustments made to fluidly accomplish both. Take notes, leave comments, ask questions! We're happy to help.

And the centering! On the punty with the paddle. Genius.
Duh.
pro moves.
Thank you for creating and sharing this video so that I can view my daily serving of hot glass.
Thanks for watching...
You are so welcome!
You guys are rocking these videos. Great camera work Josie!!!!! One importation thing that your doing is at step one twisting but pulling the cup to the length that it needs to be then blowing it up. That took years for me to get and you so beautifully demonstrate that.
Thank you Martin!! ❤️ Notice also how that step differs from the short twisty cup video? 😉
Thanks Martin! I hope the camera work still gets stronger - I appreciate your noticing!
Oh, and I love the move you are talking about. So efficient. 👍
Love your method of flashing the punty with the mapp. Makes perfect sense.
it really does. it's a great move.
I like it too... but you should also be able to do it without the map gas...
Glad it was helpful!
Love the videos! Pensacola FL glassblower here, really trying to get my twisty cups down, you make it look so easy!!
Great video, thanks for sharing! :). What size optic mold are you guys using? I want to get a good one for twisty cups but don’t know which one to get. Thanks!

Hi Cole, we’re using a 16-pt Carlo dona mold. Get one and start making!
Heck yea! Thanks! Can’t wait for more vids 👍🏼
They’ll be coming soon. Thanks for watching!
