FABULOUS description of why mixing consoles (especially like the ASP4816) should always have a place in any studio! My buddies questioned my decision to use a Tascam digital desk in my home studio, versus a DAW. I use both actually, although the DAW acts more like a 24 Track recorder in many instances. The point is... GREAT VIDEO thanks Mr T.
Perfect! THIS has to be our next console! Thanks to Pete's Tape machine my critical friend is finally convinced too! If you watch the video of the firm: NO computer No firmware update bullshit! Complete analogue and nevertheless modern! Why does nobody build a modern tape machine? Thank you Pete!
that is an unbelievable record, especially in a modern form through good monitors it sounds unbelievable and stands alone as a work of art. it is very very strong as art. the drums and bass gtr are mind blowing. the original tracking is deep, impeccable and flawless.
Slightly off topic, what are those monitors Pete is using..? Are the big ones Genelec 1031A's...? What are the smaller ones, I can't figure them out....
Is there seriously no sound treatment in this room? I mean it sounds decent on this interviews recording but I don't even see anything on the walls to control flutter.
It's there, it's just a style of treatment that remains very clean to the eye. What appears to be the wall surface is acoustically transparent fabric with various types of absorption and diffusion materials behind it. It's very common in professional studios. when you get a person like Pete who is a true musician not these people who go on a talent contest shows that the uk has lost whether it be the who the rolling stones the Beatles you have lost true musicians
I think Townsend went a little bit overboard on praising the Audient console for 5 minutes. I do think is a good console and I own some of their interfaces but just too much too long.
I'm a big fan of this artist, anything he says about explaining his methods is always going to be awesome
I've had my 4816 for 6 or 7 years...never missed a beat. Sounds great, Love it.❤👍🏻
I hope one day I will have one too....

Pete really rocks my life and awesome
That is the perfect size desk. And I love going to tape👍
The Maestro! Long Live Peter
Pete is a true musician he keeps expanding hence Quadrophenia

That was cool but also 41 years ago - not sure how much expanding he has done since then though - have you heard the new Who tunes...?
Man, what a beautiful room.
Pete we love you!!!!
Very Cool ! Thanks
4:14 Pete's got a fucking Lowrey Lincolnwood? Dear lord I jumped when I saw that legend instrument.
The Lowry organ is what you hear on Won't Get Fooled Again and Baba O'Riley.

Where's the acoustic treatment?
Look at frame 02;37. His ceiling is one massive bass trap like few people can afford.
What's a 'schtudio'?
Pete is one good reason why you should never say OK Boomer. Because he knows everythingba millenial knows but he also knows all the old tech.
Is that an Otari Tape machine ?
No it's an Otari North.
I'm with you on this one, "studio"
It’s a 1” 16 track. It’s not an Otari MX70 or a MX7800. I can tell by the VU meters.
The buttons look to me like Tascam. We have two (ATR 60 1/4" and an MS 16 1") in our studio.
@Beliefspace Studio I think so too!
Is there seriously no sound treatment in this room? I mean it sounds decent on this interviews recording but I don't even see anything on the walls to control flutter.
You don't see what you don't see. Anechoic chambers aren't good either. What matters is results.
If it sounds fine then it obviously doesnt need treatment.

dude did you not see the uh, CEILING?
@@michaelolgaalgar5729 Absolutely correct! I think in this room its the case!

Pete, I think you need a slightly larger monitor. Lol. Cheers!
His secret weapon - the room treatment in a facility that costs a million pounds, lol. Seriously though he needs bigger monitors, lol.
One doesn't need a big monitor when he's mainly working on a tape machine. If you look, there's only about 8 faders on the screen.
2inch tapes is no llonger used now its protools
Wrong
love Pete and love the board, but isn't he 89% deaf?
odd gent.
Good modern hearing aids do Wonders! 🤪
I think 89% is a little bit much :-)
There are hearing aids now that can pretty much cure deafness- even for those who were born with it
@@EmEStudiosHannover it must have been that he's 89 years old. my mistake.

You do realize this is an advert for Audient don't you? Jeez... What's the big deal!
