An 11:33 metal song, slaying the whole time? Damn!!!!! Bands that frequently make songs over 6+minutes tend to be the most creative/talented. Reminds me a tiny bit of Maximum the Hormone at parts. Definitely going on my playlist. Holy hellfire!
Oh man, you have no idea... You just experienced one of the best or really the best band out there nowadays! I'm a BABYMETAL fan, I consider them the best band ever, imho. But I also love GALNERYUS, they are certainly at the top of the game for me as well.
GALNERYUS is the peak of Power Metal. Everyone in the band is absurdly nuts, so please don't overlook anyone. The keyboardist Yuhki, for example, is as much of an unreal composer and shredder as the guitarist.
Shusuke Ueda is the guitarist and founder of the band, and he is pretty much the best guitarist in the world, I mean he was voted in a row from 2015 until 2018 as the best guitarist and even appeared in a guitar hero magazine...
The singer Masatoshi Ono or also known as “SHO” is a true powerhouse who was born with an unreal high voice and tone, if his voice is already insanely powerful at the age of 44 you would be blown away watching this singer when he was very young. Not an exaggeration as he is also considered by many one of the best or really the best singer that ever came out of Japan, even the world, he is a songwriter and vocal coach who has a vocal school as well, he had a solo career way before making his debut on GALNERYUS in 2009 and officially part of the band in 2010, nowadays he is 57 years old and still a real phenomenon in the music industry alongside GALNERYUS as still being an active touring band nowadays, some of his songs were big hits, especially in the 90s, GALNERYUS has a Metal version of 2 of his songs, “You're the Only･･･” and “Sympathy” but more precisely he initiated his career in the 80s as part of a Metal band called Fortbragg.
He also wrote iconic songs in the anime industry being on GALNERYUS alongside Shusuke Ueda, such as the opening “Departure!” and the ending “HUNTING FOR YOUR DREAM” for the anime Hunter × Hunter (2011). Also in this song, TEAR OFF YOUR CHAIN, you could hear he went for that crazy note and in the live version it's even more unreal, he does it even more fiercing and raspy, almost “screaming.” Their studio albums are mostly well mixed and incredible but man I have to say, this is a live band, you're definitely missing out the whole cake if you don't watch the songs live on YT.
GALNERYUS had a previous singer before him called YAMA‐B, also an excellent singer who stayed with the band until 2008.
they always have some amount of 80s influence in their sound this is probably their most 80s sounding album, and I loooooooove the guitar tones. everything from heavy 7 string gallops, to glassy sparking leads that are almost violin like.

Dude, you definitely need to learn that this is its own genre, power metal! And stop calling it "80s style hair metal"! LOL! xD Power metal's a pretty big genre, with a huge amount of bands in it. And a lot sounds basically like this. ;)
Cool song, never heard of them before. And maybe it's just because I've been a weeb forever, but you can definitely hear the Japanese accent of the vocalist. Not a negative, just a thing. ;D
