The whole time you were crack testing the yokes I was telling myself "wish he would show something with a crack in it" and you did, thank you. Again, I don't know how you do and know everything you do but you are amazing. Keep it up.
Kurtis states that the magnaflux is a good way to detect cracks, and sprays the white primer. I immediately agree as I can see a large crack already. Looking carefully, I can see it is actually a Labrador hair stuck to the iPad screen. After cleaning the screen, and hearing Kurtis finally agree that there are no cracks in the work, I think that this is probably the first time that magnaflux has crack tested and cleared a piece of work and an iPad at the same time. Gotta love multi tasking
So for those who are interested, a little more detail on how that crack detection system Curtis is using here actually works. The method he is using is called Magnetic Particle Inspection or MPI. It is a non destructive method using a hand held electromagnet called a yoke. The yoke is energized with electricity. This generates a magnetic field because wherever you have electricity you have a magnetic field and Visa versa . Can't have one without the other. The magnetism is imparted to the piece under inspection. All magnetic fields have what are called flux lines running from the north to south poles of the field. The ink Curtis sprayed on has very fine iron particles immersed in bay oil. The particles will line themselves up along the flux lines. If there is a crack in the material the flux lines will be disrupted by the crack. This will create another north and south pole around the crack which the iron particles will be attracted to allowing the crack to be seen. This method can detect very fine cracks in any material that will hold a magnetic charge and can also see sub surface cracks up to about 5 mm depth. It is used primarily to detect surface breaking cracks however. MPI is one of five non destructive methods commonly used in industry, automotive repair and aerospace to detect cracks. The others are Liquid Penetrant Inspection (LPI), which we have seen Curtis use. Radiographic Inspection (RT) Basically X-Ray for detecting internal cracks. Ultrasonic Inspection (UT) Using sound wave refraction to detect internal cracks. Can also be used to determine material thickness with a great degree of accuracy. Eddy Current Inspection. (ET) Used to locate internal cracking and is similar to MPI in that it measures impedance in electrical fields caused by cracks. Very common in the aerospace industry. Every time I watch these videos I keep reflecting on how Kurtis deals with OHS. The overhead crane is used in so many shots where a real machinist would just heave and lift, it's only 40kg or so. As someone who has eight screws and two plates in my left hand as a result of She,l be right mate I can definitely relate to that. Well done you for setting the example for those of us who fly solo in the machine shop.

Very nice work guys !! You saved your customer a truck load of money !! I just love the safety officer !! And the outtakes are the icing on the CEE cake !! 👍👍
Kurtis, I was watching where you were sand blasting and talking about a little more permanent set up for your outside blaster. Once you designate a blaster area what you need to make is a overhead rail system for the hoses. Suspend them with a sliding rail system that will hold the hoses in coils with each coil suspended and able to slide on the rail from above. That was they are not dragging on the pavement and can slide out to the full length of the hoses. I know you can do it. It will save on your equipment. Just an idea for you to think about.
Always wanted to see metal spray. What a process. To preserve an unused threaded hole for later attachments On heavy equipment, I use a bit of grease and a wine cork forced in and cut to flush. For just the painting exercise, grease in holes and over name plates. I don’t have the nice plastic hose end plugs. Your work is a delight to watch. I awkwardly struggled with problems that you show a marvelous work around, or better phrased the correct way shown. Thanks again.
The more and more I watch, the better I’m at understanding Australian. The 1st few episodes I had no idea what Kurtis was saying. 🤣🤣 Thank you both for your hard work and educating us. Cheers from the USA 🇺🇸
I have enjoys watching this man work and continue to scratch my head at the incredible amount of knowledge and skills that he has acquired . In addition to all of the skills he has accumulated, he also has a very, very good business head on his shoulders. He only spends money on the things that will absolutely increase the profitability of his shop. He is not above buy equipment that is used, then using his awesome skills base to bring that used equipment back up to his high standards for his shop. Its just mind bending for the jobs that he takes and high level of quality that those who send work to his shop get. Not bad at all for a one man shop
Thanks for showing the "before" and "after" shots close together; it really shows the work progress. Sometimes this is best seen at the very beginning. It saves the viewer time scanning.back and forth to see what is really happening. This is really a great video, thanks, Kurtis for the all-round explanation of what you are doing and why! And great video, Karen.
Brilliant. The spray weld equipment looks pretty well made. It certainly puts the filler down well. Two boxes of toys but homey still wants the slab of paper. A great video once again. Thank you.

Kurtis has some serious skills and knowledge without question, But I think Karen's videography is bloody amazing. Kurtis, Karen makes your work process and skills look awesome ! May you both always prosper and may God watch over you guy's and homie !
I paid an absurd amount of money for a Lego technic D11 for my son. I have to say, it's awesome. And huge, at least the same size as the distance between the forks on those yokes. Really nice to see you working on some D11 parts. You guys do such great work, on both sides of the camera. Thanks for all of it.
I learn something every vid. From this one I learned to simply snip box staples, instead of my usual grab, jerk and get cut by them. The arc spray is cool. Worked on a printing press years ago that had to have it done to a low spot on a back cylinder.
In the cartoon "Calvin and Hobbes", Calvin sometimes plays a superhero, "Spaceman Spiff" - he could be modelled from Kurtis when he sprays metal onto the yoke👍. Big helmet, visir, spacegun....... Perfect! Nice job, nice video. Always a pleasure to watch. 👍☀️👍.
Hi, same here! I have several compilation books of "Calvin and Hobbes" and inmediatly Calvin as "spaceman" came to my mind when I saw Kurtis in similar disguise 👍😄
Sorry if you've covered something like this already - but when would you choose this method of adding back some material vs. welding some beads on and machining it back down? Is it based on how much actual material you need to add back? Or based more on the type of material you can add back with each method? A bit of both? Super cool to see this!
Nice save for your customer! That metal spray kit look’s expensive but if it brings in high value work like this it’s a good solid investment in the future of the enterprise. I suspect once you get familiar with it you will find additional places to use it which will improve the ROI. Love to see Homey he seems always to be happy and enjoying being with you both!
I was in the middle of typing a message how even though I know it would be bad for the customer, I'd like to see a positive crack test to know what it looks like and, lo and behold, Kurtis delivers before I could click that comment button. Top work.
a great video once again! Haven't watched your videos for a while and noticed Kurtis looks a lot younger here? Anyway you guys Make awsome videos! Greetings from Finland!
You consistently do fantastic work, very quality conscious. I really like seeing the finished product when you clean and paint it to make it look better than new! Cheers!👍
As always,an excellent and interesting project, very well done. The camera tech is always at the right place at the right time, fine job camera tech. Every man should have a snowmobile,a motorcycle,a man carrier,a yard crane,a small tractor with lots of implements,a hobby farm, blacksmith shop, woodworking shop,a heated mechanical repair shop,a barn, and someone else to split the firewood.
This is the stuff dreams are made of.@@2nickles647
As much as I enjoy watching Kurtis work, seeing Homeless running around each week makes it even better.
Get some hydraulic hose spiral wrap for your blaster hose mate, pretty cheap and easy way to protect it. Also awesome work as always mate🤙
Impressive work as always! I just spent 7 hours tonight torching a cracked high pressure chamber out of a lead extruder tonight. After a hot shower and a few to many cold beers, your videos complete my night. 1am US. Thank you Brother and Mrs Brother. Thomas, Mississippi, USA!!
"Mrs Brother", luv it 😆
Thank you sir. You are what this country is made of. Hard working men.
Your talents are amazing, I hope ABOM in Florida can learn from you and you from him !!
Favourite part? The whole video 😉 Karen is truly professional and so are you Kurtis, and the bloopers are always to enjoy. Give SO Homey plenty of pats.
You're the best!
Could not agree more!
It's hard to tell anything new about the quality of machining, high technical culture and excellent videography of CEE.
I like how you attempt to answer and like most of comments, but there's so many of them, that you'd need another week :)
It's so nice to so how well both your business and social media presence developed.
The best episodes is where there is a whole story from the image of the part on the machine working to wrapping up for despatch - this one delivered. Thanks.
Just discovered CEE and loving it! Kurtis, you are the consummate professional! Despite the world's problems, it's wonderful being able to watch this from the other side of earth. cheers from Calgary, Canada!
Morning all !! Sat here, Bacon and egg sandwich, cup of tea, watching the rain pour down in the UK, so much for summer !!! A CEE video to brighten the day !!
It was raining here but now bright sunshine in Somerset 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍
A big pot of coffee and two egg and cheese toast here in Gothenburg Sweden. Same awful weather and it looks like the summer is gone. Good to start the day with a cce video tho!
Gonna start raining here over in West coast of USA. After this video going to bed, buy yall enjoy your morning and day
@@raytalbot5890 Enjoy it !!
@@henricberg7346 Ill swap the coffee for tea, but the egg and cheese toast sounds great!
You truly do excellent work!! Keep up the amazing job as always!!!(well done) that's also great for the customer that its a very hard wire, it should be harder to wear out again
I thought it would be interessting to see how a crack looks when detected. Moments later he showed it. Amazing video thx for the work mate.
I love how you take non-functioning parts, put your skills to work and make the parts usable again. Not much waste, no land-fill great job!
What an awesome video! You don't often find a shop that can do all the testing, surface prep, coating, machining and finish painting needed on this job. Really impressive, guys. Nice job putting this video together, Karen. You are a good storyteller! Thanks for letting us look over your shoulder and see you next week. Cheers.
Hey mate thanks for watching! We're glad you enjoyed the video and appreciate your kind words about our shop's capabilities and Karen's storytelling. We look forward to sharing more of our projects with you in the future. Cheers!
I always look forward to Friday morning when your videos arrive here, coffee hot, feet up on the desk and a little content from Aus. That's my Friday morning ritual!
Oh,...and I enjoy the commentary Curtis provides, I know somewhere right near zero about machining stuff, so having the reason for the way things are done is enlightening.
I also really appreciate the thoughtful production side of the capture and edit of these storeys. The last couple of generations of media consumers have seen so much stuff over the decades and most of us really have no idea how much time, effort and especially skill goes into a cohesive, enjoyable production.
Oh!! And Flea-Roy the shop hound is wacky AF too. He's the best intermission ever.
Thanks Team Bris-Vegas!
guys are really love your job. I can see it while Kurtis was painting and sandblasting and doing measuring. And let’s not forget the young beautiful lady who is behind the camera doing all this editing stuffs. You should be proud. I think I’m lucky that I subscribed to your channel 4 years ago 😂 I really love you guys ❤
Hey mate thanks for the kind words! We really do love what we do, and it's great that you can see it through our videos. We're so grateful you've been a subscriber for four years! Cheers!
Very nice work guys !! You saved your customer a truck load of money !! I just love the safety officer !! And the outtakes are the icing on the CEE cake !! 👍👍
I love "Homeless" and his friendly energy
Kurtis, I was watching where you were sand blasting and talking about a little more permanent set up for your outside blaster. Once you designate a blaster area what you need to make is a overhead rail system for the hoses. Suspend them with a sliding rail system that will hold the hoses in coils with each coil suspended and able to slide on the rail from above. That was they are not dragging on the pavement and can slide out to the full length of the hoses. I know you can do it. It will save on your equipment. Just an idea for you to think about.
Karen, it would be super cool if you could get a shot of that weld spray through a welding lens to see what's going on. That stuff is pretty cool!
I'll definitely be sure to video that next time!
@@CuttingEdgeEngineering safety first, keep up the great work.
Karens video editing skills are superb. Just right- timelapse and jump cuts to show the whole job without needless repetition!
Thanks for showing the crack test results with and without cracks. I was excited to see the comparison
Another amazing repair well done
Excellent post as always. Thank you for showing us a good example of how the crack tester sees cracks!
Absolutely am fascinated how this fellow handles his business, unbelievable great job, no drama just great work, and honesty!
Looking good Kurtis! You look recovered and healed from your oral issues...
Putting the dustless blaster on a trailer with a water tank would be a great idea
Totally amazed by the arc sprayer, brilliant to watch. Awesome work and video🙂
Thanks for showing us a demonstration on an actual crack with the inspection equipment, that was cool.
Brilliant. The spray weld equipment looks pretty well made. It certainly puts the filler down well.
Two boxes of toys but homey still wants the slab of paper. A great video once again. Thank you.
Amazing skill to prep, spray weld, turn, paint, and wrap those yoke. Great video! Thanks
Awesome Technology & Work!
These Blaster and Sprayer come in very handy and save time and money.
All in all a very good investment.
Nice video and outtakes, folks!
Tom 😎
Well done Kurtis. Good recovery work on these yokes.
Beautiful workmanship and a really cool process to see. Thanks for taking us along for the ride
Always neat watching metal arc spray in action. The bastard child born when a Mig Welder and a Plasma Cutter were left in a dark room over a weekend.
I came across you channel quite by accident a few years ago, since then whenever I talk to others who have machines and the subject of youtube comes up, we all talk about your videos and talent displayed. I do look forward to Fridays.
Kaptain Kurtis and his ray gun. Awesome effort! That ray gun and the blaster certainly appear to expanded your capabilities. Thank you as always K, K & H 👍
This has got to be one of my favorite processes to watch. It’s such a cool bit of kit. I appreciate the comparison of the cracked/non-cracked parts. ❤❤
Pricey piece of kit, but hey, that’s the cost of getting to look like and alien with a space blaster, and being able to make near miraculous repairs to expensive components.
Much love from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
Got to use all the new kit on this job, thanks for the XL edition- it’s always nice to see the entire job.
Beautiful work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
Awesome job Kurtis ,your attention to details is very inspiring .
Kurtis has some serious skills and knowledge without question, But I think Karen's videography is bloody amazing. Kurtis, Karen makes your work process and skills look awesome ! May you both always prosper and may God watch over you guy's and homie !
That RapidBlast is a hell of a machine and time saver. Never mind that you can return the work looking like new.
You continue to blow my mind as to what is possible to repair. What a time to be alive with this kind of technology.
You keep showing why you are so busy great work done to perfection every time
In the cartoon "Calvin and Hobbes", Calvin sometimes plays a superhero, "Spaceman Spiff" - he could be modelled from Kurtis when he sprays metal onto the yoke👍.
Awesome having all the bells&whistles and special gear to do things!
My Friday wouldn’t be complete without your videos. I enjoyed watching the new flame sprayer
Top work.
I'd be chuffed getting those back...superb work
Would like a video of you delivering the repaired equipment and introducing us to the crew
a great video once again! Haven't watched your videos for a while and noticed Kurtis looks a lot younger here? Anyway you guys Make awsome videos! Greetings from Finland!
Kurtis has new teeth! 😁
Your new kit is already paying for itself. Nice work
Le riprese di Karen sono fantastiche e la tua bravura è unica! Numeri uno
You consistently do fantastic work, very quality conscious. I really like seeing the finished product when you clean and paint it to make it look better than new!
Cheers!👍
Karen, I really enjoy your editing.
Thank you! So glad you enjoy it 😊
As always,an excellent and interesting project, very well done.
The camera tech is always at the right place at the right time, fine job camera tech.
That sandblaster is definitely a good addition to your shop, what a time saver.
It wouldn't be complete without Homie,he is a super star, and he knows it.
Thanks for another enjoyable video,I do look forward to the next one.
Love seeing the new toys being used! 😄
Thanks Karen for the great video you shot and the awesome shots of Kurtis spraying the metal on the big bulldozer parts with his flames were awesome, big thanks to the whole CEE for your investment.
