The meal in SQ premium economy is basically the same in Economy, no differentiation at all…that’s really bad actually…cost cutting again and again. Actually SQ premium economy meal is worst than virtually all other competitors, just look at Emirates, BA, Virgin Atlantic, AA, Air Canada etc they all serve different and elevated meals in PEY with real china, larger portions of appetiser and desserts, some with same main from Business. Apart from the seats and great crew you are pretty much getting ripped off. If I’m paying for premium economy then I am expecting to be served a premium economy meal not the same from the back of the plane. This is common sense and more like the industry standards but one area where SQ and Cathay have gone cheap
Hi Liam. Are you sure this is the case? I remember having 3 options for each meal and it was pretty decent. Unfortunately I didn’t check what it was available in economy class. I am flying often Air France premium and they have the same food as in economy indeed. I am sure SQ does the same food for short and medium haul, but I thought for long haul is different. Since September 2022 they even have champagne in premium economy :)
Comparing against AF is like comparing to an airline that is even worse than SQ. have a look at other premium economy trip reports from EK, BA, Virgin, EVA, etc.
The foods are exact the same as economy if you don't book to cook in advance. That's the only difference I think. If you are in premium class, you can order your meal ahead of time and there are more selections. Foods are not that great either (I expected too much from its being the second best airlines). To me, I don't really mind much about the food. I care most about the seat and roominess. That's what I was willing to pay for. However, the seat s so narrow, same as economy class. just more legs room and space in between the two seats. I felt cramped that day. maybe because the flight was full too. not worth paying double from eco class.
My family and I fly PE on the direct route between SIN and New York twice a year. The additional fare justifies PE over economy, primarily for the additional seat pitch and width. The direct route also shaves 2+ hours from the flight connecting in Frankfurt. Yes, the food is the same as in economy. It is unremarkable albeit plentiful and filling. Service in all classes on SQ is always exceptional. I avoid US based carriers at all costs.
Excellent clip, so lovely to have soft ambient music, typed text and no body blabbering! I love SAI and are heading up to Singapore in May, first time after the pandemic. This will be our first time on the beautiful A350. So excited to see Changi again and the Jewel, only say it under construction. Thanks for posting 👍
For the A350-900ULR 9V-SGA-SGE fleet the way to get a cheap premium economy ticket on them is adding on a destination in SE Asia via Singapore like MNL CEB BKK SGN
It would appear that the salad starter has been removed from economy class meals in an attempt to differentiate Premium economy. SQ are shaving off those little extras (card menu, amenity kit, salad etc) in economy that made it a cut above the competition but no longer, especially given their generally higher fares.
@@rsnc23 That really isn't a very constructive comment. In what world is having a starter "posh?" You clearly have little idea of how much airfares cost or the "stealh" increases that are imposed.
Qantas PE is so much better. It’s upstairs and the Syd To LA flight was an awesome experience. You are handed a doona to wrap yourself in, not some threadbare blanket and the food is delicious
Great to hear! Usually there are not too many fans of Qantas (particularly in their business class). We didn't try Qantas PE yet, maybe will plan for the end of this year.
We flew PE Syd to LA on the new Airbus A380-800 and upgraded with points to business class on the way home. I’d have been happy with PE both ways actually!
Oh, clarification. I meant the interior was refurbished, with PE upstairs with business. The actual aircraft is old. Typical of the arrogance of Qantas though. They have a brand new CEO now so maybe things will improve
@@bellinda2771 you are right, I am seeing the second generation of their PE cabin, 60 seats on the upper deck, behind business class. It doesn't look bad at all, especially if you get a bulk row. Will add this on our list to review asap.
Why did the type of seat change mid video ? 2 diffrent types of pemium economy seats were shown, I was trying to see if the aisle seat armrests were movable like in economy.
Thanks for this video! Just a small correction to your data. Singapore Changi handles more than 30 million passenger movements every year (pre covid). For 2023 as at May 2023, Changi has already handled 22.4 million passenger movements. Not 400,000 per year. Thats way too little 😊
Thanks for spotting the error. The correct number of passengers in 2019 was 68.300.000 and 32.300.000 in 2022. Probably there will be a record number in 2023 :)
I fly Singapore to Paris on Singapore Airlines in Premium economy. Are there any better Premium economy on another airline for around the same price?. I'm flexible and willing to fly from KL or Bangkok etc for a better quality experience.
For direct flight you have only Air France as alternative. I found them ok, see the review on our channel. Probably I would choose Air France between these 2 options. The other option would be with Finnair - see the review on our channel - my favourite way to go to Europe and relatively cheap to upgrade to business.

You probably have never even traveled on a airplane.
good to see one of these that is about the flight and not the person
Why sad music? No narration either 😮
Very good video, it’s well-edited and very relaxing to listen and watch to while recovering from wisdom teeth extraction surgery. Subscribed!
Thank you, I appreciate it. Fast recovery!

You can find some good PE deals when you know the dates way in advance.

Thank you Mark. Keep an eye later today for an exciting Singapore Airlines review!
I flew SQ Premium Economy in the days of the A340-500 from Singapore to New York ( Newark. )
It was very good then. This looks better.

Thank you. This is excellent advice indeed. And if you don’t have a checkin luggage (or a long connection) you don’t need to fly the last segment.

If you are so posh then pay for Business Class fare.

Like the Product Premium Eco.Love the A350.Great work
Thanks Gunvald.
Narrow seats just the same as economy only has a bigger divider in between. EVA seats are much bigger and comfortable
I would choose EVA over SIA as well :)

but as Premium economy, we are not allowed to use the lounge .
Yes, that is true. We used the lounge thank to Krisflyer status.
Do the arm rests in the middle seats of a premium economy fold down, or are they fixed?
Hi Rachael. They are fixed, not the best when you travel with your partner.
Premium economy ticket can use silverkris lounge for both ways????
Hi Ralph. Unfortunately there is no lounge access included. I accessed the lounge thanks to KF status.
@@PremiumTravelClub thank you
Passengers are still required to wear masks?
Hi Timoteo. Since September, Singapore Airlines has no strict requirements to wear masks during flight.
@@PremiumTravelClub thanks, because 12 hours with mask inside a airplane I arrive dead
Hello , thanks for the video.May I ask, when you fly with Premium Economy. Can you use the lounge???
Hi V C H. Unfortunately no, we got access in the lounge thanks to KrisFlyer status.
