This is one of the most amazing songs I have ever heard. George Duke doing the lead vocals and the keys, and Rachelle Ferrell holding down the background vocals, just could not ask for better! This song will always be a classic to me:)
This is the Essence of a true Faith in a relationship that a search prayed to be real. This is Me striving understanding too My Black Queen..7od Dumar ✌️
Ah, Mr. George Duke. This tune is really close to _No Rhyme, No Reason,_ one of my favorite Quiet Storm classics growing up. You were *playing* that piano, Uncle G. This is a lovely tune. Rest now. I love you.
I remember when this came out I was a toddler I've been listening to George Duke Since I was 2 yrs old. My Grandparents would play it in the house and there office.
Transcending music 🎶 🎵 right here!!! They don't make them like this anymore!! I will blast and have this on repeat forever!!! ❤❤ Thank you, Mr. Duke and the whole team!!! ❤❤ REST ON!! ❤Job well done!! Legend ❤
"JUST THE MENTION OF YOUR NAME CAN TAKE ME OUT" powerful painful statement, George Duke represents a real man, and the imperfections of a human being with a passionate human heart.... I have seen several men and woman leave their family for the "HOPE" of finding something as passionate as what Mr. Duke has conveyed in his song....... May you Rest from all your cares and sorrows, even the "cold one" in this song.... Thank you for sharing years of your beautiful music and heart with the world.......
I can't get enough of this song, I listen to it at least 5 to 10 times a day, just love the lyrics and that grand piano , and of course George on the mic, what a story ❤ 👏
So much emotion from this album. This song, in particular remains as powerful as it did in 94 when I was a teenager learning the hard way about love. RIP tonthe legend. One of my favorites always 💯🙌🏾🫡
His artistry lives in our hearts every time i get to play any of his songs.A true maestro of jazz, ballads, and contemporary tunes. Rest in peace bro Duke.
I have an illusions CD, and that song reminds me of No Rhyme No Reason. I remember seeing George Duke in birchmere in 2006 and my church Reid temple when he was doing a live recording with Kirk Whalum back in 2007. He will always be my musical influence inspiration. Rest in Peace George Duke 🎹🎹🎹🕊🕊🕊
Rest in Peace you great great and talented man! "Fill the need", "Summertime", Place I call home", "it's our world" "love can be so cold" , "thinkin bout you" "Simple things (as time goes by)" No rhyme or reason (my jam!) He will be so missed! 2013
I've been listening to this guy every since I learned how to play an instrument. Musicians really appreciate the artistry of this guy and his major impact he had in the music industry. Such a humble man with a God given talent that will be missed. Love ya Duke! You taught me a lot! RIH!
Some mornings I wake and I feel great Someone to love and no one to hate But other times though I try life's a chore And for no particular reason my back gets sore You see the longer I live the more interesting it gets The pains I feel, the ones I haven't felt yet closeI've seen friends change their attitude, Dress a little different and change their mood And now I'm a parent with kids in school I'm tryin' to teach them my golden rule You'd think by now I'd have it all figured out But just the mention of your name can take me out I thought I was over you in my mind But this time the laugh's on me I could not see that's the way things play It ain't no game you can't explain Why love can be so cold I've seen what was in go right out of style Only to come back around in a little while I've looked at my life from inside outside and above Lord knows I've had a hard time shakin' your love And though we'd meet in secret to keep our love alive Always someone sees us with their prying eyes And now you've moved away and found another man And I know in my heart all I can do is say is amen Cuz' when you fall for someone you just can't explain A real feeling, it's a spiritual thing I've said it before and I'll say it again Though it really really hurts me I could never be your man I thought I was over you in my heart but no not this time That love's the one and I still run to you whenever I choose Love don't play by rules not learned in school How can love be so cold?
George Duke my friend, miss you so much, so I had to listen to you... take me back in time... I used to watch you play from the side of the stage...riding the notes, soaring with you crazy beautiful...only you and the imagination only you had. Soaring now in Heaven. Free.

What a great human being n musician. I first became aware of George Duke during my early college days around 1978. At that time there was a jazz station n New York called WRVR. That was d jayed by a priest Can't remember his name. George's album "Reach For It" was out. I heard Pat Metheny, Al Jarreau Look To The Rainbow double album set, Michael Franks, Ronnie Foster, Eric Gale, Patti Austin, Weather Report, Crusaders. That priest had some ear for music. Those were the days.
I was born and raised in camden NJ, and I grew up to all this music fact!!. All the music back in the 70s,80s, and 90s meant something. That's why my boys called me white chocolate, lol fact !!!
George was giving us a lesson in jazz and smoothness right here.
Rest In Peace BROTHER George

Some mornings I wake and I feel great
Someone to love and no one to hate
But other times though I try life's a chore
And for no particular reason my back gets sore
You see the longer I live the more interesting it gets
The pains I feel, the ones I haven't felt yet
closeI've seen friends change their attitude,
Dress a little different and change their mood
And now I'm a parent with kids in school
I'm tryin' to teach them my golden rule
You'd think by now I'd have it all figured out
But just the mention of your name can take me out
I thought I was over you in my mind
But this time the laugh's on me
I could not see that's the way things play
It ain't no game you can't explain
Why love can be so cold
I've seen what was in go right out of style
Only to come back around in a little while
I've looked at my life from inside outside and above
Lord knows I've had a hard time shakin' your love
And though we'd meet in secret to keep our love alive
Always someone sees us with their prying eyes
And now you've moved away and found another man
And I know in my heart all I can do is say is amen
Cuz' when you fall for someone you just can't explain
A real feeling, it's a spiritual thing
I've said it before and I'll say it again
Though it really really hurts me I could never be your man
I thought I was over you in my heart but no not this time
That love's the one and I still run to you whenever I choose
Love don't play by rules not learned in school
How can love be so cold?
Loving this! Thanks George! Sleep In Heavenly Peace! You are missed!
