It didn't end well for him but I liked his attitude in leaving. He was crying, he loved the life he lived on earth, but he was smiling too .. because he was going on. Well done.
Yep, he loved being a narcissistic degenerate. I’m sorry but I’m going to say this dude is living his best self or life, whatever mental gymnastics people want to tell themselves or others to justify heinous acts. This song is basically is Frankie’s using tears to attempt to appeal to Riff Raff and Magenta in order to stay on Earth to continue to use people as sexual objects, discard them when he’s gets bored, and to use people’s body parts in order to build a perfect boy or girl toy. This is the same dude who killed Eddie for no good reason, and proceeded to serve him to other people for dinner. Tears doesn’t make him remotely sympathetic.
I played this at my husband’s funeral. This movie meant a lot to us, but this song took on a new meaning when he died. It gave me good memories and broke my heart all at the same time.
I managed to land a copy of the Rocky Horror Show (mind you, no Picture. It's the stage version!) Soundtrack on vinyl for Record Store Day this year. Can't wait to fire it up on a turntable and make it to this gem!
Sadly gay!! No wife, no kids and no family in a wheel chair now!! How sad!! He should have had a better life for himself and continue the legacy and talent in his sons and daughters! Alas!
The cinematography was so amazing in this film. As time passes with digital production, the richness, depth and texture of film becomes more 'works of art', priceless and nostalgic.
And the sound design! The echo of Frank's high heals in a still-empty theater while we see the audience Frank has imagined contradicting that sound. Very clever.
My God, this man KILLS it in this song. His performance is worthy of tears. This scene is what comes to mind when I tell people Tim Curry is my favorite actor. ... And on a side note, he looks *damn great* in a corset.
He looks so adorable with his sad red eyes and red nose. Poor baby. He did so great pulling this character off. I don't think anyone else could do it so well and be loved as much as him.
The number of people who cry at this scene makes me think everyone is missing the point. As with most of his work, Tim Curry's character is the VILLAIN of the film. It might be slightly more sincere in the film, but in the context of the play this song is implied to be reverse psychology to trick them into feeling sorry for him so they'll leave him behind so he can stay and r*pe earthlings.
I didn't fully realize why I loved the live shows so much, the crowd energy until realizing I'm a not straight woman and the shows attract such a big lgbtq crowd.
I would make a painting of this movie and I would personally give it to Tim Curry or to Richard O'Brien or both or perhaps I would open up an art gallery called the all of phenomenal movies gallery and hope that Richard O'Brien would come in and I would ask for him to autograph the painting
Agreed! I saw it in original theatrical release, and while it was immediately a hit midnight movie it was many, many years before it became the cult classic of today. Nobody back then yelled out lines. We just watched in awe, enjoying the cosmic vibe created by the great Richard O’Brien, brought to life by the inimitable Tim Curry. Songs like this one are almost too beautiful to be true. Don’t dream it. Be it.

I am 42, I have listened to this song alone in the dark, since I was 10-11. My absolute favorite song from Rocky Horror, and Tim Curry sings with such emotion. Cards for sorrow, cards for pain......
This was one of those real moments In the film that broke the fourth wall and it felt like Tim was being applauded for his final performance on a broadway set in the film. It was like watching a Rocky Horror Show stage play within the movie itself!
I went to a live show of Rocky Horror recently and during the cards for sorrow cards for pain the audience threw playing cards at the stage. The actor playing Frakenfurter picked one up and revealed it to the audience and went 'It's a queen!' It fit so well into the scene and song that I can't not think of that happening in this.
Frank needed help. He was clearly mad and self absorbed. He didn't understand consequences and didn't think about how what he was doing was affecting others. But what makes his death bitter is that at the end, when singing here, you can tell that he sees the error of his ways at least a little. And then he's killed. It would have been different if he was killed like in a battle where he was trying to kill someone else, but the fact he was killed right when he was changing is was hurts.
Brad and Janet and Columbia had influenced him to the point where he began to be almost like a human in the end feeling emotional and ready to move on as he loved that life on earth but sadly he didn’t go home the way he thought he would.
Well I'm saving my sympathy for the people who deserve it. As for Frank, he always knew what he was doing to people, but he didn't care. As Columbia says: you chew people up and spit them out again. You take, take take.
That line hit me hard when my Dad passed. This was his favorite soundtrack. He passed on June 23,2022 at 73. Today October 13 would have been his 74th Birthday. I just hope he misses us as much as we miss him...Happy birthday, Dad....
Tim Curry sealed forever as "Da Man", for me when I saw him preform this role. Magnificent actor. I was a rebel early 80s New Zealand, (incidentally it is where Riff Raff grew up)loving it living it and now I am 59 ,60 in a couple months and I ha stalked his career since then till his death. Once again,"Da Man"!
This scene has so much emotion and it takes me back to my early teenage years listening to this album on repeat after a.long day of school. I wasn't popular but every day when I got home I would watch this film or listen to the album and realised that there were other strange people out there and that it was ok to be who I was. Thank you Tim curry, you have made all our lives a little bit brighter.
This scene was so off, it felt like it was real unlike the rest of the movie when Frank started to see the audience. How it was filmed, the ambiance, the actors performance, etc... It wasn't as "theatral" anymore and looked sincere, like it was the real Frank who went back to reality for this scene... Am I the only one who felt that ?
As a kid first seeing it, it was a beautiful song and scene (when he catches that scarf..mmmmph. Bellisimo). But it's definitely deepened in meaning for me as I've been dealt cards for sorrow, cards for pain.
The part that always chokes me up is when they show Columbia standing by the stage light and she's crying because I guess she really did love Frankenfurter. Gets me every time
I love this song so much, actually the whole movie. But this scene gets me in the feels and I cry everytime I see it. My mom and I used to watch the movie together during Halloween every year since I was 14, it was tradition. Sadly she passed away in January of this year and I miss her more than words can express. This song reminds me of a simpler time and how I wish I could go back home.... There will never be another performance as wonderful as Tim's. Gives me goosebumps ❤️
On the day I went away, goodbye Was all I had to say, now I I want to come again and stay, oh my my Smile, and that will mean that I may 'Cause I've seen blue skies, through the tears In my eyes And I realize, I'm going home Everywhere it's been the same, feeling Like I'm outside in the rain, wheeling Free, to try and find a game, dealing Cards for sorrow, cards for pain 'Cause I've seen blue skies through the tears In my eyes And I realize, I'm going home I'm going home I'm going home I'm going home
theres something about this film that made me feel a certain way that nothing ever has done before. this film feels like home to me?? if that makes sense
I felt so strongly about this film that after I saw it (and rewatched it several times in quick succession), I went out and got two RHPS tattoos. It’s just a wonderful tribute to those who are different and feeling like they’re lost, unheard and have nowhere to turn. Just my take.
Snuck out of school in 1975 to see this movie. Have watched it more than 20xs. Sang the songs way more xs than that. Dressed as Magenta at every RHPS party. My adoration never wavers. I'll be 90 and still doing the Time Warp.
It seems like he was being more human and opening up to showing his emotions but riff raff and magenta didn't like it. Why can't they end the movie of him staying on earth and decided to go through therapy and lives his live as a stage performer. The way I saw the audience, it shows his true feeling of wanting to be loved and accepted for who he is but I guess his people (Transylvanian aliens) never wanted to be his friends or he was the outcast. Maybe due to that has to do with having singing and him being the family scapegoat or least favorite. He wanted to feel loved and accepted but didn't know how. There's a song that Tim Curry sing called: "Something Short of Paradise" and this song even though it doesn't belong to the RHPS, it would've been perfect. Imagine a scene with that song as Frank sits in a dark room and stares at the mirror where in a light you see a tear rolling down his face as he sings that song.
this is one of the most beautiful songs ever and I at the time was young enough to understand what the rocky horror picture meant. i am now 63 and the freedom this show gave people so many years ago. i think TIM CURRY is just brillant and has been very underrated - i doubt anyone else could have pulled this off as well as he did. i actually think who ever casted this show was brillant i think you got a group of very talented people together who just shone. jo sargeant victoria australia

Well, I heard she got hypothermia in the pool scene & the parts where Brad steps on her foot was given revenge by Janet stepping on his during Wild & Untamed Thing. Some of the things in the film weren't intended, in a word
Brad and Janet wouldn’t have shown their true colors if it hadn’t been for Frank, even though he’s gone, his influence on the former couple still remains.
I was lucky. I was in the Air Force in 1980 (enlisted in July) and was at DLI (Defense Language Institute) at Monterey California. There was a place called the Pillow Theater (because they had pillows for seats, natch..LOL). Saw this there for the first time and was just BLOWN away! Saw it many more times over the year I was there. I cannot imagine many people still get to see this the way I did all those years ago to get the full vibe, but it is a classic nonetheless. Does anyone else think it can be a really sad picture too? I mean Dr. Frankfurter, Meatloaf, Little Nell and Rocky all die! I get very melancholy now that soooo much time has passed since then, but I am sooo grateful for those moments with my friends as we went down to watch RHPS!
I graduated in 2005...we useed to watch this every saturday night in chicago...as did my aunts/mom when it came out originally. Society wasn't ready for Rocky Horror.
It is very sad what has happened to Mr. Curry in his old age. When I was young we used to dress up and go this movie at midnight. It was something fun to do with my first.
When I was younger, in the early 1980s a friend of mine would go dressed like this to Friday night clubs in our small conservative country town, I’d a lot of respect for him, he didn’t give a shit
After reading some of the comments, I am glad that I am not the only person that cries everything I watch this scene. And I have left word with my children that I want this song played at my funeral.
09/19/2021 is the day I lost my aunt Marcia to a terrible tragedy. She LOVED this film. She even shadowcasted it EVERY year. Everyone wanted to play basic songs for her but I chose this one as her final song. I knew she was smiling and crying when she heard it. There wasn't a dry eye in the room. It was VERY emotional. Everyone who attended came up to me and said they felt her with this song. I miss you every day aunt Marcia. Love ya
For me, this is THE best song of the whole production, and all the songs are great. The most warm, true emotional, and soulful moment of the film. I dare anyone to knock it out of the park as well as Tim did here, and I'll even let you forgo the mascara and panties.
I'm not much of a crier when I watch movies, so I found that small scene with those two amusing 😁 Edit: depending on my mood I'm either as annoyed as Riff Raff or as bored as Magenta is when I'm forced to endure something I don't want to (it's usually Riff Raff)
This was my sister’s favorite movie. When she died we played the soundtrack at her funeral, the lyrics to this song in particular fit well with her passing. I listen to it every time I miss her.
It has never been done better than by tim curry
Never will be either! 😊💗
Miss Nocturna amen sister
IT has never been done better than by Tim Curry.
wayne finco so true
Tim is the true voice of this song. This is the one that he'll be remembered for

Beautiful
Lovely story but you really have foodie beauty as your picture 😂

Did anyone else notice that insane scarf catch? Also, everything about this is a masterpiece!
I was just thinking that’s some great subtle theater magic right there! They really need more stuff like that in non broadway theater.
I think the scarf catch is one of the best scenes and this song is the most touching.
Pay close attention. That scene was done in reverse . The scarf throw was actually tossed away , as in pulled by a string .
Did you notice another person walk on the stage at that moment.
Yes also the "please, no autographs" gesture is hilarious

Got to hand it to Frank - he just refused to accept any consequences lying down. Reality just isn't fabulous enough for him.
Well said

The movie is meant to be silly. The overacting is reminiscent of the B movies it pays homage to. But there are some real moments.
It was made to be a fun movie from the begining
True. Silliness and parody abounds. But this indeed a moment.

I feel like Magenta watching 🤭. Idk what he's even trying to say besides, he had an ok time but he wants to go home.
No Words. Just Love.
I'm surprised this part isn't mentioned more often
I graduated in 2005...we useed to watch this every saturday night in chicago...as did my aunts/mom when it came out originally.
Society wasn't ready for Rocky Horror.
I think people don’t realise that Frank N Furter is the antagonist, not Riff Raff.
Such a passionate performance by Tim Curry, gives me goosebumps
He’s absolutely amazing
#timcurryfiveever
So leute, Forza ist runtergeladen ....
1:40 no one notice that he's actually dealing cards lmao?
It is very sad what has happened to Mr. Curry in his old age. When I was young we used to dress up and go this movie at midnight. It was something fun to do with my first.
When I was younger, in the early 1980s a friend of mine would go dressed like this to Friday night clubs in our small conservative country town, I’d a lot of respect for him, he didn’t give a shit
So can somebody tell me a better reason why Frank and furter had to be killed rather than he went rogue?????
Oh I miss Tim Curry's voice so much. One of my all time favorite siniging voices. His singing here just relaxes me.
Monica Lawhorn He still sings, just in a different way. 😌
@@NocturnaPhelps He does? Oh that's so good to hear.
He's from Liverpool. Scouser's always do it better. Nuff said.
1:59 that shot when he stands up and the light comes down on him is just my favorite
and the profile shot at the end in front of the light! it's perfect
same it's so moving
He's so beautiful
Première chanson préférée 😊😊😊
This is the song that makes you realize how special Tim Curry’s voice is. He does well with all his songs but this one is just perfect. ♥️
Thank you for sharing
God what a voice
How sentimental
After reading some of the comments, I am glad that I am not the only person that cries everything I watch this scene. And I have left word with my children that I want this song played at my funeral.
How sentimental.
Love ya
What a voice❤
This is the one this is the movie Tim Curry will be remembered for.
This and three musketeers lol
@@tylerfriedrich4097 and Clue :)
And 'IT' 🤡
hes still rocking that big boss tatoo even at the end of the movie
Me WHEN hallowen ends :'(
Im going home
Swear this song hits different now that I’ve lost my mom
For me, this is THE best song of the whole production, and all the songs are great. The most warm, true emotional, and soulful moment of the film. I dare anyone to knock it out of the park as well as Tim did here, and I'll even let you forgo the mascara and panties.
Could this be my favorite movie.
Tim Curry is ICONIC in this role! Absolutely breathtakingly beautiful!
pause at 1:07 PENNYISE! Lol
Frank N Furter crying
Characters crying
Everybody watching this crying
Riff Raff and Magenta: 0:54
I'm not much of a crier when I watch movies, so I found that small scene with those two amusing 😁
Edit: depending on my mood I'm either as annoyed as Riff Raff or as bored as Magenta is when I'm forced to endure something I don't want to (it's usually Riff Raff)
Oh ja, the music too, of course‼️❣️
I have a ton of respect for this song, but why is this me when I'm getting picked up from school early?
Great talent!! & Production! Sick message! Leave if for the Jedis of Hollywood to put this warped combination! lol
This was my sister’s favorite movie. When she died we played the soundtrack at her funeral, the lyrics to this song in particular fit well with her passing. I listen to it every time I miss her.
Just remember, she was going home.
Awww, dang. Nice sentiment.
