Pro-Line Big Bore Scaler Shocks for the SCX24 - Little Shock, BIG Performance?!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 лип 2024
- In this video I install and review the new Pro-Line big bore scaler shocks for the Axial SCX24! These are oil shocks with a large 5mm bore, allowing for more overall oil volume resulting in improved performance. Smooth shock action is provided by a polished steel shock shaft with double o-ring seal. At 34mm eye-to-eye length, these aren't going to net you more articulation or suspension travel, but they will certainly improve the performance of your rig.

Hopefully these are just the start and they will make some longer ones. Really impressed with the way this build handled hells gate at the end.
Same here. It nailed the line at the end! Super impressed
Excellent tips Adam! Appreciate the candid review of the PL shocks. I ended up ordering a set for my Gladiatior SCX24 as well. I had swapped out the original shocks for some Hot Racing shocks but I find the ride height is a bit too tall for the Gladiator. Hopefully I can get the same height that you achieved with your rig. THX
Thanks for watching! I have an LCG chassis kit on mine but I think you can still get the ride height like this with the stock towers.
Super cool they look great on the rig yeah I’m here watching
Congratulations you just muddied the water even more for me. Lol I've been thinking 39mm vs stock 34 on my c10 to slightly increase ride height but wanting to get rid of the bobble head feel. Second I had been thinking high torque 30 motor for it but can see imo it's worth just cutting the battery tray mount and throw a 50 in her. Thanks for all the help I've gotten from your videos. CK
I was pretty skeptical at first because of the length but after seeing how well they performed I may end up ordering a set for my bronco now. I have a set of Powerhobby’s on it now but these look pretty nice! Awesome video Adam! 😎
They would be great for the bronco. You could put the stiffer springs in the back to compensate for the hard body. I bet they would really benefit that rig.
Just put some on my C-10 and I am really liking how they work and how they raised the truck up just enough for my Tusks. I am keeping my C-10 more scale while my Deadbolt is friggin nuts.
They're a great scale shock!
Injora has 39mm shocks for only $20. I use them for my scale rig. They're a little finicky but it also comes with 3 sets of springs.
I forgot about the Injora's. Big value there
Once you rebuild them they’re good. The prolines are nice but stock length…
Got the Injora's. Didn't like the length, so I bought the Proline's even though it cost a lot more to upgrade again.
Just ordered these. Can't wait to see how they do on my Akers Engineering Gecko
I hope you like them!
Really nice I do like them, the gladiator looks way better, runs smooth. Thanks for the video
Looks super scale and perform like a champ!
Love it!
I love the gladiator. I want to get one
Love you brother those things are sick
I do hope that Pro Line makes these shocks, for the M, in the near future! 🤞🏻🙏🏻
I would love to see a longer version that could work on both 1/18 and 1/24s!
@@CapeCrawlers no doubt!
Terrific!
Nice
Curious to see how the PL 50mm shocks would look and perform on the gladiator.
Nice review!
I have a question and since you know so much about these SCX24, though you might know... do you know if there is a way to convert a SCX24 to an SCT for some indoor "slowish paced racing" with my son and nephew?
...the SCT part is for me, as I like short course trucks so much😂
I own hot racing treal both very smooth great quality shocks but I like the way companies are going with a bigger bore look great ...im sure proline has longer length already on the lathes
I haven't tried the Treal. HR is very nice. I would be so excited to see longer versions of these!
@@CapeCrawlers yes treal are butter also 39mm is my choice now for performance ..actually most new builds get stock scx24 shocks no springs its a trade secret lol
These are super hard to change the springs on, any tips? Thanks!
I didn't realize I was copying all of your mods onto my Green Gladiator 😅 I have the Torque Beast 030 motor with the new Injora transmission with the clear cover and metal gears. I have the same bumpers and I'm running the Proline wheels for now. I'm still on the stock oil filled shocks and was looking at getting the big bore. One question though, how did you color match the fenders? I want to do that with my Gladiator. I just switched to a LGRP Lil' Rocket running on the Furitek Lizard V2. Swapped out the 2 pin connector to the 3 pin so I don't mess up the plug. By far you are one of my favorite channels to watch. Keep up the great content. By the way I put a spare tire on the rack...I'm not 100% sold on it yet. Still have to run it on a course and see how that added weight affects my rig.
Also did you run the flex blades with both shocks and if so what ones are you running
Awesome *JEEP*
Solid review. Thanks!
How do you feel these shocks compare to the Injora shocks that are about half the price?
Thank you! I have not tried the Injora's so I can't say first hand. Someone else in the comments mentioned that the Injora's are a little tricky to get dialed in but work well afterwards.
I have a question I think I just fried the esc in my fcx24 will the FURITEK TEGU24 PRO ESC work with my stock transmitter or is there anything else I can get for it that’s compatible or do I just need to buy a fcx24 stock esc thanks
The Tegu is only compatible with the avatar. I think your best bet would be a direct replacement of the FCX combo.
Maybe on your FCX extended trailing arms would be a good fit.
Good idea. I bet they would
Do you have a link for these tires handy? Would like a set on my FCX24 blazer when it gets here

@@CapeCrawlers Thanks!
Should do a video of a versus on all the 24th scale motors you've dealt with so far
That would be a beast of a video but would be a lot of fun!
All those shocks can go onto the little sx24?! And I got some that said oil filled and leaked all over what do I do put less oil maybe??
You could try less oil. These little things don’t take much.
I have one shock that is leaking oil out of the top. is there a way to fix this?
You can try taking the shock apart and cleaning it. Sometimes dirt gets stuck on the seals or an o-ring gets dislodged
Where did you buy the flex plates?
These are from Grizzly Works RC on Etsy
I honestly think I’ll get 2 sets, I have 2 scale build I’m slowly building, they are almost done but they are still on stock shocks, I really don’t like the bounce of them, and the body roll, thinking these proline shocks will fix all that.
A c10 and a gladiator
I think they'll do great at solving your issues!
How do you get your tires to “squish” like that, like even when the truck is at a stand still you can see some “flattening” on the tire
Most likely vented tires and some tires just have more “squish” due to the compound they use.
I run soft foams in the tires (crawler innovations) and vented wheels and/or vent the tires. These tires are very soft as is!
Are shocks as affective as adding brass, or really for just more flex? Does the bounciness have to do something with it?
I mean you do want a certain amount of stability. Say your on a tight ledge line having little resistance leads to hopping of the suspension just as in a real rig. Hopping can lead to bouncing of your line as well as allowing the suspension to unload and flip
Haylee is right, the bouncing of stock scx24 shocks can be problematic. Still, I would put shocks behind brass diffs/knuckles in terms of performance priorities.
Could we get an overview of the tall next racing shocks ?
Check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/n_UMBs5Zmmk/v-deo.html
Do they make a box Silverado/C10 body for the SCX24?
The C10 is offered as a model in the scx24 lineup. Are you looking for something different than that? Proline makes a K10 body: www.horizonhobby.com/product/1-24-1978-chevy-k-10-clear-body-scx24/PRO358300.html
What do you like better as overall package and platform? Trx4m? Or scx24? Politics of both companies aside just talking about the machines themselves. I'd like to hear people opinions on this and great video as always.
I still prefer the SCX24. Primarily because there are just more options for customization. I really like the TRX4M but I find myself always coming back to the SCX24.
What are the new tires i love them and i think i might get that rim and tire combo for my very own gladiator scale build
DJcrawler 58mm tires. Love them!!
@@CapeCrawlers thank you!
@@CapeCrawlers on my scale build i use the injora 48mm with no springs and mount them on the frame, oddly enough it looks really scale sort of like oil shocks
Can we get a review on the Injora 1.0 brass wheels?
These? ua-cam.com/video/1Rp68z6L7LU/v-deo.html
How do you change the springs?
I will have to verify, but I am fairly sure you unscrew the shock shaft from the bottom mount and slide the springs off/on that way.
Do you know of any online forums dedicated to 1/24 scale rc rigs?
I'm not sure about forums, but there are some Facebook groups that are very active and I learn a lot from.
@@CapeCrawlers okay, thank you for the reply!
Someone should make a micro version of the desert lizard crawler shocks.
Agreed!
Adam i know you have good connections in the rc world maybe you could help me and maybe the community out the scx24 c10 the stock roll bar with fake lights on it I would love for someone to make the roll bar but in aluminum and have it come with lights that actually work don't know if you'll see this of so maybe you could help as I really would appreciate it
I think Injora would be a good option for this. I will mention it to them!
@@CapeCrawlers thank you so much I've emailed little guy racing
Big flex/Articulation is overrated. Too much is not good. Most SCX based builds will perform great with 32-39mm shocks.
It’s nice to see another option for small shocks. Not many out there.
I am so impressed how well this thing performs as is. I am very happy with the setup.
Agree, most of my capable rigs are shorter shocks. I have some double barreled shock but every time shorter shocks outperformed those longer one especially on steep climbing.
Damping not dampening that’s making something wet.
I stand corrected
Its either these or go through a bunch of BS . With flipping shocks upside down and adding rubber bands to the 43 mm shocks. Why do we except that all the modifications that we have to do is unexceptable... why can't companies just make something that works
