@@Sh-hg8kf It's never been used by capcom. That's why its the NAMCO 163. Namco is the only company that had this Wavetable Synthesis chip in their games due to it being previously used in an earlier model by Pacman, Pac-Land, mappy etc.
The Namco 6-N163 always seems to sound like a GBA with more elaborate tracks for some reason. Might be because it used a similar trick to achieve polyphony that the GBA did.
This is absolutely shockingly amezing because even king of kings wich does contain the N163 chip does not fully utelize the chip despite it uses all 8 sounchannels, while it does sound slightly better then normal nes games,it does not sound close to a snes, this N163 version of mario kart really really sounds close to the snes version, just wow.
One question, in Famitracker, how do you get an audio channel to sound so similar to the original Super Mario Kart soundfont? It's incredible, amazing.
It'll take quite a lot of work, as sound expansion chips only work on Japanese consoles without modifications to the console and cartridge. Also, flashcarts tend to not have these chips included, so this sound may not actually be heard.
MAY i HAVE THE .0CC FILE? ALSO, COULD TOTALLY HEAR THIS BEING USED IN A REMASTERED VERSION OF THAT PIRATED STREET FIGHTER KNOCKOFF KNOWN ONLY AS KART FIGHTER.
Bruuuuhhh, imagine how good nes soundtracks would sound if people knew how to take advantage of this! Though I imagine it would be kinda pricey on rom space
Would you prefer me make a list of the files i'm interested in? I don't remember if there's even a way to read past sent PMs here, so sorry if it feels like i'm repeating something I've posted before.
I'm amazed at how flexible the N163 sound chip is, and you're doing it a decent amount of justice
If you're wondering, n163 is a wave table synthesizer used by namco in an expansion chip in some games

nice track! really like the conversions you've done on this channel. Any way I could get the NSF? I want to try playing it on my NES!

The piano is hard. How did you do piano?
Actually, that piano sample is pretty short. You could probably load thirty copies of the sample and it would still fit on the SNES.
Tempo Quill how do I do that?
Best way to do it is through SNES GSS. In fact, I think I'll get back to you on how many times specifically it's possible.
Holy cow, I was spot on! 31 copies!
It's the NES.

how did you get the snes samples?
WELL, LOT'S OF PEOPLE HAVE BEEN MAKING VERY CLOSELY ACCURATE COVERS OF SNES TRACKS BY USING THE NAMCO 163.
