The seemingly wild abandon with which she dances is thrilling but she is in complete and total control of every movement that makes the dance all the more exciting! Exceptional.
I love the way she throws her arm back during the "Cassie handshake" when she moves in reverse down the line. I've never seen it more thrilling and dynamic.
Her acting of that section is what sells it --- out of reach, trying to hold on/grab for what she wants, just out of reach and harder to hold onto -- it is a beautiful piece of work.
Wow! I've been wanting to see her do this number for years! I did the show at Seacoast Repertory Theatre in 2001 with a cast that included Constantine Maroulis and Josh Young she was the choreographer and just the sweetest most humble person in the world. Had never seen her actually dance until now and she really was amazing!!! Love you Laurie!!!
Had the pleasure of working with Laurie! She was the director and choreographer for a few of my college musicals. Our Department Head, who was a good friend of hers, showed the MT Majors this dance to inform us who we would be working with. Amazing instructor and equally as kind. Side note and theatre nerd factoid - working with her on one show happened to be at the time when she was one of the final 3 called back for casting Cassie in the revival cast.
Omg! A Chorus Line is my favorite Broadway show. I've performed in it playing Paul, Mike, & Bobby. This Cassie is absolutely one of my top 3 favorites. Bravo! 💃💗😊😍
Awesome!!!! Wow Laurie can really dance!!!! She is also a really nice person as well. Laurie is one of my friends sister!!! So I had the chance to meet her and she was sweet!!! I saw a chorus line once it was awesome but not as good as this performance!!!
I believe the show didn't close until 1991...anybody? The description lists it at 1990. This was the first Broadway show I ever saw...not this performance, but with the final cast and Laurie Gamache was unreal. As fantastic as she looks on video...it was ten million times more intense and passionate in person! I was only 8 then, but I made it my business to finally play Bobby...23 years later :)
Laurie is my cousins daughter, when she was a little girl, she would come out to the farm, in Georgetown, Minnesota, for our picnic's at that time she was very impressive, she was going somewhere..
Hey Darrell -- I used to have the video from the wings shot during the final performance but it got destroyed on my hard drive. Any way you might be able to upload more of the backstage footage or share it privately? Been devastated after losing more than 1000 shows. Thanks.

Silky-smooth and precise. Fierce and engaging. Laurie is in the top 5 on my list. Woof!

I saw the show 29 times on Broadway. She was the best. I had the thrill of meeting her years later and got to tell her so. She was so kind.
I still think Donna McKechnie was the best, but this one is very good.

Imagine NOT casting her.....!
Incredible woman!!! One of the most loved and most talented!!!
Saw Laurie dance this in Denver for one of the national tours in the late 70s. She was amazing.
That was at least FORTY SIX SECONDS of well deserved applause.

I can tell she's trying not to brawl her eyes out at the end. I'm sure she misses performing this.
Her passion is very real!
Wow. That was absolutely radiant.
Laurie is a GODDESS!! She nails every single nuance. ❤️
I saw this a month before it closed. It was better than ever.
Wow I wanted to see this soooo bad since she was the final Cassie before the Original broadway run closed 2 decades ago.

I saw Laurie twice. Such charisma. Get it!!
Interesting choices on accent placement and port de bras ! Over all interesting performance captivating unique !
I love you, Laurie!

Darryl is correct. The original Broadway production closed on April 28, 1990.

Ms. Gamache's last stage credit was in 2003.
She's been teaching theater in the NYC Catholic School system since then -- lucky students!

Young dancers can take this as a lesson: DANCE AS IF YOU WILL DIE TOMORROW.
Damn, girl...
WOW. That's my theater teacher! :) I didn't know she was such a great dancer!
Amazing
BRAVO LAURIE!!!!!!
Glorious!
Wow
I was blessed to see Laurie perform Christine on tour, with very long hair 😄 and as Cassie on Broadway. Wow!!! 👏👏👏🙌🙌🙌💜💙💛
An incredible performance. I never thought I would see anyone to rival Donna McKechnie but Laurie did, she was stupendous.
Too bad they don't rent out these great old orchestrations any more. They only give the new (and ruined) ones....
some of us have them
Stunning
