To clarify about not being able to, you should be able to use an app on your phone provided you have a mobile audio interface attached to your phone. Something like IK Multimedia's iRig--you might want to share a link for that device or something similar. Just wanted to mention since some people might already have one or be interested and it would remove the voice recorder step for getting the audio where you want it--you also have the added bonus of near immediate cloud storage provided you have the access, and the potential for faster file organization. Also, the Audio to Digital conversion is probably better on an external audio interface (although some cheap ones are bound to be of lower quality).
I hope that wasn't coming of as criticism, I just meant "In addition, here's more cool stuff that helps". This was a great video by the way, thanks for the other tips! As both a musician and a techy, on the daily I'm contending with wrapping wires and cables. You tip just saved a lot of production time. Thanks again!

It didn't come off as criticism at all. It was actually an excellent suggestion. There are some good apps for recording phone calls, and they have probably improved since I last did reviews. A couple of years ago, I found them to be frustratingly buggy, which is why I searched for an analog solution, at least as a backup. I can say that TapeACall worked for me for years on a paid plan. Then, I had a grudge because without warning it stopped working for Android and I did not know why until AFTER it failed to record a client session. Thankfully, I had my analog backup. They did not support Android for a year or so, and then it came back. Anyway that is an example of how apps can be unpredictable. But you are right that they make saving files easy, and the audio quality is, indeed better. Thank you for this clarification for viewers.

@@EvalogueLife Ouch, that was a close call. Very smart to have the backup going, saved yourself a lot of grief and time I bet.
I don't have Android but I wondered about using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) like the free one called Garageband on ios. Bandlab might be more stable for a digital solution to track the audio. Chances are it also has good audio effects that you could use to clean up audio, splice up as needed and even EQ it to taste.

Hello. Thanks for the info. Do you know if the Olympus Tp 8 can record using a headset instead of a phone?

    • @EvalogueLife

Emmanuel - it's a little wonky but I do it all the time. If you see the headset I use for calls (shown in this video), the ear piece is wide and flat. I put the TP-8 earbud inside my ear canal, and the headset's flat ear piece goes over that. Presto! I can talk on my headset hands free, and still record the call. This same principle works if I want to record a backup of the audio of a Zoom meeting through my computer. If this is confusing to you, let me know. A while back I recorded a video showing how I do this. I haven't published it anywhere, but can track it down if you need a visual.

@@hi_1833 It took me a minute to find the video since I've never posted it on UA-cam. Admittedly, this method may be overkill for Zoom since you already get a recording, but I do demonstrate using the headset with the TP-8. The relevant portion starts at about 1:35.
