1-2 Kings by Dale Ralph Davis. He is really good at distilling the major commentaries while putting a touch of levity in every page. Very good expository commentaries. I recommend any of his OT commentaries.
I couldn't agree more. I have several of his volumes in the Focus on the Bible series, and have recently been exploring his commentaries outside of that series like his volumes on Genesis and Psalms. Also, for anyone one else considering his work, he also wrote Daniel in the Bible Speaks Today series.
I literally just finished my daily journaling (today was about Elijah atop Mount Carmel) using House’s commentary on 1 Kings. I sat my pen down and clicked on UA-cam only to find you here talking about House. Spot on description, by the way. This is a great resource for preachers and teachers. Sermons and lessons are easily found throughout the pages. Using a Mount Carmel pun, if you can’t find a message in this commentary, your wood is wet. Thanks again for all you do!
Well said, Robert! It seems like you are using House's commentary in the exact way he intended. I have not read the volume straight through but it's on my short list to do so.
My OT Survey class is doing 1 & 2 Kings this week and I have House’s commentary. Fortuitious timing! Thanks for these videos and especially your website.
Understanding the Bible Commentary series is on sale right now for $99 on Accordance Bible. Edit: Also Boice Expositional Commentary series is on sale for $99 as well.
Thank you for doing these videos, they are very helpful!

J Baldwin wrote some good material on Scripture. Sadly she passed in the 90s.
Hey, do you have any news on the allegedly forthcoming ZECNT-volume on 1 Peter by Michael Wilkins?
