- Daniel Peacock (64), has revealed he is working in a care home and living in a caravan - and couldn't be happier. He was inspired by his dad's situation (Trevor Peacock 1931 - 2021) being in a care home for the last three years of his life.
To be honest I know this actor very well, seeing him over the decades in many things, but never really knew his name or realised he was the son of Trevor Peacock, but recognised subconsciously the face, without putting two and two together. As I remember correctly, I got to see his dad in 'Twelfth Night' with Felicity Kendall many decades ago.

He hasn't changed careers at all.
He's still entertaining and making people happy, just like always.
That is not only a worthwhile career path but a BLOODY difficult one to do right - massive kudos to Daniel.
The world could do with more people like Daniel Peacock, lovely man, well done sir ! ❤
If Daniel ever reads this, know from one carer to another, your doing a fantastic job, your Dad would be proud of you.
*YOU'RE doing a fantastic job, YOUR Dad would be proud of you. See the difference? The first is the contraction of YOU ARE while the second is the possessive as in something belonging to you.
@@markfox1545 Jesus mate, calm down.
@@markfox1545 You're correct (see?) but you're also a bit of a kill-joy and a total pedant. X
What a top bloke. All respect to him. A bundle of energy and loving kindness.
Couldn’t agree more, loved him as a actor and now he’s showing his true colour as a Human Being 👍
What a man
I remember Daniel from the early 80’s as a teenager growing up, i watched the comic strip presents, he was in a good few, the supergrass, war etc always been a fan of his unique style.
Full respect to Daniel for doing what he is doing…
He was great in Five Go Mad In Dorset as Toby
@MR MISTER Five Go Mad On Mescalin wasn't nearly as good.
Oh mate watched The Supergrass last week and always loved Danial’s self deprecating silliness.
How lucky these folk are to have him.
Yep...He played Jim, a local fisherman in THE SUPERGRASS - in his first scene, we see him hiding behind some rocks on the beach, getting a spanking off a pretty girl !
How many times have I got to tell you Rodney, I DO THE 1,2,3's!!!!
What a great bloke. One of our best. 🏴🇬🇧
I think he's doing a fabulous job, giving something back for a life lived in the public eye... and making his dad proud in the process.. his dad Trevor wrote songs too for the like of Herman's Hermits, Jess conrad and Joe brown.. great legacy Dan 👏
No no no no no yes he did.... 😂
Daniel, you are an absolute darling. Thank you for all that you are doing.
I bet you everywhere he goes he gets recognised and loved. If you watched TV in the 80s you’ll have a soft spot for Daniel.
Plenty of Comic Strip episodes, and a writer of many shows. Voice overs aplenty, also.
Good on him…what a brilliant and worthwhile contribution he is making to society. Loved him as an actor, admire him as a great human 😊👍
Seen him taking residents out for Sunday lunch in the local pub next to the home he works in. What a wonderful guy 👍
A terrific guy and all care workers are wonderful people who should be rewarded properly for the job they do.
Not just an actor. He was a massive part of people's childhood. At a time with only 3 channels then 4 channels, he was in so many things. He was a familiar face in late 70s and 80s. As a kid, if I saw He was in a production, particularly kids TV, I knew it was probably going to be good. I was born in 74 so he was on screen as long as I remember. What will it be for tea tonight? Hope its chips, it's chips, we hope it's chips it's chips. Bird's-eye.
I can remember him appearing in ads as a blokey-bloke and then appearing in a Smith & Jones skit on adverts that used blokey-blokes! Never the headliner, he's always been a highlight. Great that his new career direction is still basically entertaining people.
I first remember him as the Dad in "Diary of a teenage health freak"
It’s frightening to realise how recent it seems that I saw this bloke on the TV as a cheeky chappy youngster. That ‘recent’ time was bloody 40+ years ago! I’m getting old 😂
This had really moved me.... What a guy he is!!! All the people in the care home are 'listened to'.. He cares and that's special.. In today's society, that's mega special.. ❤️💯🙏🏻
Maybe listened to because it's being filmed
@@stevenwade7466 don't be negative you prick..
He was brilliant in Fools and Horses, that episode was legendary ! Glad he's enjoying what he's doing but also a Shame that talented actors like him are not on the box today .All the best Daniel .😁😁👍👍
How many times have I got to tell you Rodney, I DO THE 1,2,3's
Mental Micky, i believe his name in Only Fools And Horses
He's a reformed man is Mickey, from doing porridge in Rampton to now working in care. What a guy.
Nice to see an actor not in love with himself and down to earth. A very worthwhile job, fantastic keep it up.
When I see him, I just can't believe it's not Trevor I am looking at, but when I hear the voice....pure Daniel Peacock. Isn't this the type of person we need at the top of the social care establishment, helping and indeed guiding how we look after people in their later years?
The wonderful heart of Daniel has changed the life of these people and he deserves the award %100
I remember Daniel well in One Foot in The Grave where he played the cheeky chappy gardener digging a hole in Meldrew's back garden. When he delivered the line "Morning Love Queen!" to the neighbour's wife, I couldn't help feeling that glint in his eye and sense of fun was very much a part of him and I can see he brings this to his Care Work. The world needs more people like Daniel and I shall do my best to live up to his high standards and listen more to others. Inspiring. God bless Daniel! :)
Good morning, Mr. Mildew!
"kept giving me orgasms..." 😂😂😂
@@MrBannystarIs it a wonderful, wicked morning or what!? 😂
God bless you Danny, and all the Care Workers out there!...we do love You, thank You for what You did for Our loved ones, when we could not...😘🥲
Bless you mate ! What a beautiful thing to do ❤
I did Activities in care homes over 8 years, working with elderly residents with a host of challenging conditions such as dementia etc
It's a tough gig, hard work and minimum wage, you certainly don't do this kind of work for the money, I did it to give something back to my community and enjoy a complete tangent in my career path..
Hats off to Daniel, total respect for his hard work.👍
All I can say is if somebody is interested in this kind of work and has enough spare time, has an interest or skill, like gardening, wood working, crafting, sewing, embroidery, knitting, drawing painting art, cooking etc
Your local care home would appreciate any help, materials, advise, volunteering etc
What an absolutely lovely man. His Father would be proud I’m sure.
I trained as an actor. I moved to London to continue training. I instead became an environmentalist and civil liberties Activist. I spent those 27 years either caring or Protesting. Getting arrested. Many times. I'm near 60 now. My cousins are in the "business" doing well. I'm broke, near homeless. I cared for Micky Burn for years. Then my mum was diagnosed with ad. 12 years ago. I've done solo Dementia care until last year she went into a home where she's now being abused. I'm praying to get her to a Royal British Legion home very soon.
Would I swap lives with my cousins?
In many ways I wish I could but I've no real regrets. I went into what I considered Important. The planet, politics and family care. I gained a lot of life wisdom
This guy is a Gem. A total diamond.
A beloved actor, and a Credit to his Honouring his Father and Mother in how he LIVES his life.
He shines.
I didn’t know he was the son of Trevor Peacock? 👍
Respect! Superb work and he obviously enjoys it !
What a man. I work in a home and I take my hat off tho this gentleman.
An absolutely perfect example of a thoroughly decent, giving human being. Wish I could meet him, it would enrich me as a person.
My goodness, he is so like his father!
Not really
Daniel was so funny in the 80’s movie Party Party 😂
Top on top off...😅
Johnny Reeves is giving me some tips on how to pull the birds 😂😂
Can anybody smell horses?
They'll think I'm a fast flash passenger

What an amazing human being, I think Daniel is an amazing actor and I think the care home as a true star working there for so many reasons. I'm sure his dad would be so proud of him and what he is giving to these Ladies and Gentlemen in the care home. Well done Daniel
What a superstar...I remember Dan growing up in the 80s and 90s...he's come full circle and I think a lot of people would be massively proud of him. Especially the people he works with.
Wow what a man. Its people like Dan who make Care what it is because he has so much love and compassion and he also hit it on the head when he says "it's my duty to ensure every resident is heard". As a Senior Care Assistant myself I'm privileged to count myself in the same profession as him I'm truly honoured.
A memorable actor in everything I’ve seen him in. An all round good guy.
On being med discharged from the armed forces I worked with people with learning disabilities for a year while trying to move on being disabled I struggled to get any work-in my military experiance , I loved that job but I had to move on due to the pay being so low and the work load was just too much for me god bless this man he is right I never in my whole life felt more fulfilled and happy , very tired but happy
& a massive 👍 to all the other unsung heroes who are care workers
All of his TV and film work was brilliant, but this work now is his greatest role. Thank you Daniel and all the other dedicated care workers who look after our elderly loved ones with the respect and dignity they so deserve.
I could’ve watched him at work all day, what a gentleman he was definitely born for that job God bless him xxx
What a inspiration, what a talent.....
I really really want to shake his hand.....
Always enjoyed his acting, he seemed like a really nice guy. I'm glad he's happy.
Well done Dan, been a fan since Party Party and Quadrophenia, good luck to you bringing happiness to all those residents ❤
A lovely story about a lovely man. he has inspired me to be a better person. Cheers mate.
Full respect to Daniel for turning his back on the showbiz world to look after old people, you can see that he enjoys his time, good on you ,God bless.
Heart of gold. I always loved watching him playing his characters ❤
I do the 1234 ‘s Rodney 🤣👍I saw Dan on local television news last year working in a home keeping people happy.
He’s good at it 👍
His father made people laugh for years .
He’s got great energy and empathy 👍
I saw him acting again in something new recently on TV 👌👍
What a guy 👍❤👌🙏
What a great guy Daniel is , thought he was superb in all his acting parts too.
Hats off to you Dan, that's made my day, 🍷
Good on him 👏 👍 both him and his Dad were good actors, now he's in a job that's really making a difference to people fantastic.
What a fantastic man!
I lived in finchley when dan did,i worked at the local taxi office and every Christmas dan would bring in loads of drinks for the boys, great bloke and his dad trevor was a great actor too...party,party..one foot in the grave and of course "mental mickey"..totally memorable parts by dan...youre doing a great job now too..thankyou for brightening up so many lives..bless you🙏
Bloody amazing actor , good to see him doing positive things and giving back 🏆🏆
Trevor and Daniel! Pure comedy magic, whatever show they were in! I smile whenever I think of them both though it was only with Trevor’s passing, I realised they were even related! Bless you Daniel, for being honest enough to change from actor to carer, and loving it! ❤❤❤
This is lovely to see. My mother had dementia and I have a son and daughter with special needs so although my career was spent in offices I had experience of caring. I am also 64 now and I am currently working in a care home as a care assistant. I can't express enough to people how much I enjoy this work. It is very hard at time but it is so fulfilling and the relationships with fellow staff and residents makes it such a wonderful environment. It baffles me as to why we are so short of care workers but that's more to do with the pay levels than the work. I would recommend to anyone to give it a go. As long as I can stay fit and well I will keep on with it.
Quadrophenia and only fools two of my most fav things,”I do the 1234’s Rodney”
IVE NEVER BEEN TO RAMPTON
i'm not gonna tell you again rodney i do the 1234's
Spot a baby faves David Thewlis there too. He was of course also in the Porridge movie
A true man of honour! ♥️🇬🇧
Most rewarding job
You learn so much from residence
Good for you Daniel 👍👍
What a. Geezers! Daniel discovered something very few of us ever do in life; he found his true path. One of happiness & fulfilment through caring & giving to others. God bless ya!
I didn’t realise Daniel was ten years older than me. I watched absolutely everything he was in when I was a teenager and I was madly in love with him. I even developed a crush on a boy in school who resembled him so much and even now watching back as a 54 year old mum I still think I had good taste back then! When my own dad died recently I had to go to Bognor as his only child and sell his house because even tho it was entirely paid for I love Ireland too much now to leave. I had no idea how close I was to my teenage dreamboat at the time! I also loved his dad Trevor, even tho I never made the connection with the surnames OR the resemblance - although I didn’t crush on sweet old Trevor of course - until it was mentioned on tv for some reason and I did the stare at the telly and do the silent blink, blink, blink kinda thing as the penny dropped 🤦🏻♀️ it’s awesome that Daniel has gone on to do something that really takes a special kind of person to do. I’m just glad my mother isn’t in the home he works in, I can just imagine her saying “My daughter had shitloads of your posters and pics all over her walls as a kid, it took my bloody ages to take them all down when she left for uni” 😂😂😂
I'm 54 and he was in loads of stuff and disappeared.
What a decent human being, respect. 👍👍👌
What an amazing actor this man is. He has been in some of the greatest shows, and now this guy is helping the most vulnerable in society, looking after *as I was privileged enough to do in caring myself* he is a very special actor
Daniel's a legend: he manages to combine such positive energy in everything he does, on and off screen, with down to earth humility, an absolute gent. I was lucky enough to meet him briefly a few times, way back in the day, and based on a very brief meeting a long time before, he remembered my name and every detail of our conversation... Pure diamond 🏴👍
He wrote one of the most underrated sitcoms ever in 'Men of the World'. Hope & pray it gets a DVD release someday.
What a thoroughly decent chap. From the parts I remember him playing i.e. OFAH and One Foot, I didn't think that he would be like this. Very convincing actor in the roles he played.
Thank you, Dan, for creating 'Cavegirl.' Thank you, Dan, for 'Party Party.' I have always been a fan of your crazy weird energy and creativity. I am a care assistant working in a care home ❤
Somethings just feel right and making the right move that keeps you happy he is in his comfort around these people big respect for all he has done great bloke
Top man. I was told to stop making patients laugh so much when I was an housekeeper on a hospital ward, lol.. I now work training new starters, our day is never dull.. Life has to be fun no matter what you do.
I had a similar experience to Dan whilst also working in a care home. Over the years I worked in many care homes (as a contractor) and used to love talking to the residents. At one care home in Jersey, I used to chat with one blind lady, who was incredibly posh but lovely, too. She had worked at Bletchley Park on the Enigma Machines. She also knew, Alan Turing. At the same home, there was a lady of 104, who would love telling me stories of the Nazi Occupation of The Channel Islands, some really fascinating tales to a history buff like myself. That was a few years ago and I often wonder if those ladies are still with us.
Always wished Mental Micky had more of a part in Only Fools. Great actor.
Danny, you are spot on. I can see your humanity ooze out of you and I can see why people relate to you in this setting. It’s not money or power it’s what you are doing that’s the spice of life. Good luck.
What an amazing character - such energy - full respect. The home must absolutely love him.
As a social activity volunteer in a NHS mental health hospital in beautiful Northumberland I totally understand this man's path... I'm a Veteran of the British army and I never thought I'd be doing what I do but it is so rewarding, always feel I'm getting back more than I'm giving... So good for a tortured soul 👍
Good on him , remember him in so many programs and ads , you knew his face even if you didn't know his name his only fools performance is legendary, only recently found out about his writing of quite a few successful childrens programs and caring is a vocation that should be a lot better paid than it is but the rewards in seeing people happy must be a good reward for their hard work , thanks for all the laughs you brought us Daniel and i am sure the old folks will gain a lot from having you around .
What a great guy, superb actor too..
Absolutely loved that programme still watch it till this day 🥰👌 your dad's so funny in it 😁 love from Mandy xxx
Wonderful Wonderful man.
The world needs more people like Daniel respect
What a beautiful human being ❤
Brilliant bloke, have always enjoyed his acting ( and his dad’s ) and admire his devotion to his new role, I wish he had been at my Mum’s care home. What a star !
This man is a modern day hero.
What a truly great man. Nice one, Dan, my hat is off.
Much respect, and best wishes to Mr Peacock. He is forever popping up in films and tv shows, and has a very distinctive look. Just last week he popped up in Jewel of the Nile with Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner! But I'll always remember him as Mental Mickey in OFAH...'How many times have I got to tell you Rodney, I DO THE 1,2,3's'!!! Great actor and clearly a great human being.
What a really nice, open person. Thank you. 👍
Wondered what happened to him. He’s one of my favourite character actors. Glad he’s still making people happy ❤
It is a heartbreaking but rewarding job. Lots of laughter and lots of tears. Thank you Daniel, you should be very proud
How I wish someone like Daniel were at my brothers’ care home…. 😞
Lovely man , such a great attitude. ❤
A great film from my youth was ‘Party Party’ a fantastic British cast but Daniel was the stand out character. I have always enjoyed his work and my respect for him has now grown more. I’m sure he doesn’t care if he won the award or not, he’s found his reward in his work and the residents are lucky to have him.
You're amazing loved watching you on telly growing up 👌 so funny 😁 you should be so proud of yourself with the job you do my son does the same job and I couldn't be prouder of him 🥰🙏 big hugs and love from Mandy from Birmingham xxx
This is an amazing report. I've always been a fan of Daniel and his Dad. Having worked as a Rehabilitation Support Worker for people with acquired brain injuries I remember how challenging but how unbelievably rewarding the job was and can totally understand when Daniel says how much he enjoys it. It is appalling though how little the pay is throughout the care sector, which is why I was forced out of the career and into a job a loathed because I would earn me DOUBLE to sit on my bum in an office at a computer in a room full of toxic people. If I could survive on care work wages I'd go back in a heartbeat!
What a wondeful man, hats off to you sir. My mum used to work in a care home for viewpoint housing in Edinburgh as did my mates mum, one of the highlights of Hogmanay every year was first footing the residents for a wee drink and a natter before heading into town for the festivities ourselves
Brilliant. Thanks for posting
I’ve seen hi. In so many shows, but what a worthwhile change of career. He clearly really loves what he does.
What an amazing man. God bless this angel ❤
How absolutely gorgeous x How inspirational!!
What a lovely person ! Am now going over to the clip in One foot in the grave to see him enjoying his breakfast
What a breath of fresh of air that man is. Well done to him and all the other carers.
Top man, and I think they underplay him as an actor. To those of us who grew up in the 80's he was in so much.
I remember from repeats of only fools the character he played and I had no idea that Jim from the vicar of Dibley was his Dad?! So obvious now! I was born in 84 so 80’s TV isn’t really part of what I remember and like somebody else has said having only 4 Channels so seeing people a lot more regular must of made him quite a familiar face. Seems a nice geezer.
Party Party was and still is one of my favourite films. Dan is a inspiration..
What a wonderful human being.. From mental micky to being a carer ❤❤❤❤❤❤ brilliant keep up the great work ❤❤❤❤
