Stumbling round the internet looking for music, track after track, skipping thru the songs, then suddenly you find a track that you instantly love and listen all the way thru, this is one of those tracks!
Mark Sandman, thank you, wherever you are. I discovered the band in early 2000's, I was very depressed and it was like a cure for pain but over a decade later, I rediscovered my once favourite cool post-punk jazz Morphine to actually be an amazing music to make love to beautiful women and while seeing her wilderness. to succumb to the magnificent beauty and temptation of Nature herself. It is magic.
He passed away July 3, 1999, Palestrina, Italy he was very talented and taken too soon. Instruments: Slide bass, vocals, unitar, tritar, baritone guitar, guitar, slide guitar, piano, keyboards
In December 2018 I was flippin thru UA-cam and discovered Morphine. I had no idea at that moment how it would transform my being. Morphine is running thru my veins and the music of Morphine is intoxicating. Today is March 01 2019

Hand over hand up the lifeline Luckily the knots stay tight Silhouettes of the two of us climbing Climbing up a rope on fire, climbing up a rope on fire Trapped in a room in a fortress Running outta air to breathe Only seconds to go and we'll break free I didn't think that we would reach Only the two of us can disconnect the bomb And save ourselves before the oxygen is gone I'll call for backup, you start to scream It's not the first time we've been in this dream She ripped the wings right off my back She whispered deep, "Keep it on the track" She said, "You're no angel, no angel anymore" All the wheels are coming loose, close-up shot of a burning fuse The sky is filled with question marks, will the chains come apart? These few seconds that I've left to go, flames and chaos down below And the earth opens wide, got to climb a rope on fire Look at the clock, look at the clock Make it to the car but the car won't start Me try to move the car but there's no more time We'll have to climb a rope on fire Hand over hand up the lifeline Luckily the knots stay tight Silhouettes of the two of us climbing Climbing up a rope on fire, climbing up a rope on fire Only the two of us can disconnect the bomb Then save ourselves before the oxygen is gone I'll call for backup, you start to scream It's not the first time we've been in this dream

It's a shame how it turned out for dear old Mark, but I can't think of a better song he could have signed off with. "The Night" was a righteous masterpiece and a brilliant final chapter to his life's work.

This whole damn song is amazingly written: Hand over hand up the lifeline Luckily the knots stay tight Silhouettes of the two of us climbing Climbing up a rope on fire Fukkin WOW.
This is wonderful. This specific song has eastern influences, so it seems. I really digged this, if you can recommend me something that is similar to this: my ears are open!

I feel the same way. Been listening to this stuff since it came out in 2000, and I'm still just as mystified by how he put these incredible songs together. The imagery and simple poetry of it all are too damn good, then match it with that music and that voice...perfect.

Not easy to make a 3 piece band hold people's attention. Morphine accomplishes it with ease.
Nirvana did a fab job with that also.

They don´t have a best album, every album is a different path to alternatives dimensions...
"She said, 'You're no angel, no angel anymore'"

Oud playing by Brahim Fribgane. It’s in the liner notes.
