Since those pesky Europeans like to print on A4 paper, every time I printed I had to select 'print on set paper' (8 1/2 x 11) and cut off the bottom, so I went out and bought A4 paper and loaded it but it didn't register on the printer screen!
I thought I went through all the options, checked all the manuals but your video brought me back to sanity!
The printer now says A4 loaded!
The blue slide in the cassette has an "L" position for letter. Mine works fine.

Thanks. I forgot the paper tray was hidden under the printed page tray.
Thank you! Paper kept getting stuck when printing from the bottom tray and you helped me figure out how to have it print from the back tray.
I actually just needed to know how to get the back paper tray to go down after use.
Can I have A4 loaded in the rear tray and Letter in the front cassette and the machine will differentiate when to use either one?
Using the Canon pictogram to install the printer, I couldn't figure out how to get the cassette back in. After watching your video, which said to close the output tray, and then stepping through the video to see the cassette being pulled out from UNDER the output tray, I realized that I was trying to shove it in the output slot. You saved me a call to The Geek Squad. Thank you.
Can this print card stock? It says it can but the paper weight limits say otherwise.
