I think it’s important to note that Lelouch knows he can’t quit and “fold”, in fact he doubled down and killed the JLF. Lelouch is still a kid and a human with human emotions. I loved that he was shook, instead of him being a cold blooded killer.
"What have you to apologize for?" really fucking hits because Kallen was directly responsible. Literally pushed the button that ended her friends fathers life.
I love how Meghan and Josh have completely different theories for similar plot points. Really great way you both balance each other out. Also please write Kallen's name down on a piece of paper and keep it on the desk, she's been around since episode 1 and she's kinda important

Just to add on to my previous comment, the reason why he wiped her memories of him only is partially yes, to handle the Zero's identity reveal, but also to help relieve Shirley from the pain of getting mentally traumatised and gaslighted by the Mao thing
C.C has a real name but the "water dropplet" SFX was to censor it so only C.C and Lulu know it.
Man Shirley really goes through it in these episodes and Mao being another geass user is great plus how Lelouch deals with him
Why would some actually think Lelouch is faking it when he was consoling Shirley after the whole deal with Mao? Maybe because I didn't watch Death Note yet so I don't have any experience with cold blooded main character.. Lelouch genuinely feels remorseful about causing Shirley's father death and cares about her, evident by his speech after wiping her memory. The bgm playing in the background is a very sad love song too by the way, called "Masquerade"
Because there's this dumb idea that Lelouch and Light are somehow alike and similar characters. Like, no? People who dont pay attention to Death Note think Light is this tormented and conflicted mc when in reality he was a psycopath and evil from the very beginning

1. Light and Lelouch both got their powers from a supernatural entity(Light got the Death Note from the Shinigami Ryuk, and Lelouch got Geass from C.C.)
2. Both characters seek to change the world for the better through actions most would consider to be awful(Light kills countless criminals every day and kills innocent people who get in his way. Lelouch resorts to terrorism, manipulating those around him and mind controlling people).
There are a few more I could come up with, but I won't say because of spoilers.
@@elitegamer9310 I'll give you #2, but the first point is circumstancial. It's a similarity in the "genre" of the shows, and therefore the phenomenon they encounter in their respective settings. But those powers inform nothing about their actual _characters_ : plenty of people have Geass, and plenty of people have Death Notes, and almost every single one of them are as different as can be.
Episode 14 always makes me cry with the ending no matter how many times i watch it. Its so bittersweet and one of the best moments from Season 1.

I don’t remember if I said it, Geass is a power from Irish mythology. The a vow and cure, as long as you keep your vow you have power but when you break it, you will be dishonest and may lost your life. You get a geass from a woman/goddess.

Two examples, both binding the mythological hero Cu Cuhlain:
Never eat the meat of a dog
Never refuse a meal from a woman
He was a legendary warrior that was only defeated when a woman presented him with a meal made of dog meat. No matter what choice he made he would be greatly weakened and therefore able to be killed by his enemies.

Also the voice from the headphones feels like just recordings of her voice. Not her speaking directly to him.
What CC used on Suzaku was not Geass, you know a character is using Geass by the red mark in their eyes

It's not just Diethard, Suzaku also realised it instinctively. He mentioned it was like a 'decoy'. Everyone else on both sides are still thinking they just did a suicide blast.
8:10 Its not really the same when they target combatants. Cornelia did target civilians once in her initial plan to lure out Zero, but it was exception rather than a rule.
Suzaku's logic does make sense when you remember that Britania controls half the world. It is nigh impossible to imagine local resistance movement to actually achieve meaningful victory against this kind of resources. All it does is prolongs fighting, kills thousands of innocent people and makes regular 11's life harder due to natural pushback from Britanians.
Suzaku's idea kinda makes sense too honestly, so I don't know why everyone hates it so much. Yeah they're the oppressive and fucked up regime, but without the Geass power of absolute obedience, it would be difficult even for Lelouch to fight against Britannia to this extent, making such a big impact, and the more fighting there is, the more civilian casualties there would be
@kura281 It's because revolutionaries are always cool but specifically in this show, people watching are buying into Lelouch's words about justice and freedom just like the japanese are even though he doesn't actually care about that. Suzaku is like the ultimate filter of this show. If you carefully listen to his analysis of Zero throughout season 1 (not season 2) you realise he's completely correct about Lelouch/Zero.
problem is the idea that someone who isn't even considered a person can join the government oppressing them and somehow change it in a reasonable amount of time is also pretty far fetched. The only reason suzaku has any power at all was due to zero and euphemia. Nothing he himself did had any weight to those in power and he was going to be made a scapegoat.
Fun fact Mao is 17 same as lelouch.

Where C.C. said she never expected Mao to come out among people is because of his specific Geass. First off, Mao doesn't need direct eye contact to use his Geass like Lelouch does, but as a downside, he can hear the thoughts of all the people within a 500 yard radius, a thousand different people thoughts being heard all at once must be painful*

You need to skip past the episode titles. As you may have noticed here they start to contain spoilers, and they get so much worse.
So, suzaku dispite the orders, hasnt actually killed anyone yet, and as to why he hates zero and not britannia, he does hate Britannia, but he believes he can change it from the inside, meanwhile zero talks about justuce and protecting the innocent, yet hes caused the death of innocents. I agree with lelouch that some evils are necessary, but i also understand why suzaku feels the way he does

So you have a lot of the pieces to figure out what a geass is now the only hints ill grant you is that geass means a binding oath and geasses aren't the exact same thing as shown with maos ability to read minds and that he clearly doesn't need eye contact

Your right he did kinda double down , but for the JLF they would have all died if he didn’t come anyways. He just attempted to use theirs deaths to his advantage. As for the Shirley thing she’s someone close to him and he does care for her and his friends as he does nunally though not as much. So what happens to them affects his emotional state as seen with the hotel jacking and when Suzuka had problems earlier in the season. He wasn’t being naive but thought that he’s people wouldn’t be affected but know he knows how battles can affect the people close to him

I wonder if you'd consider reacting to some music by the band Area 11 (Yes, their name is a reference). They have two songs inspired by Code Geass (Euphemia and Knightmare Frame) and some songs inspired by other anime. If you do, definitely wait until after season 1.

Why do you keep saying CC its spoken as C2 they literally say her name as C2 in the show
I believe her name is supposed to be C², pronounced in Japanese something like "shitzu", referencing the c and the 2. So the CC is coming from what literally happens when you square a C.
When I watched it subbed the subtitles were C.C. so I always called her cc until I watched the dub.
They saw C.C in the credits, the sub also writes her name as C.C but I don’t know if they’ve seen that. It is spoken C2 in both though I think
