Cobra has the best irons and wedges out there. Every review I've seen the driver distance beats TM and Callaway. Spin numbers are not as good tho. But not by far. Cobra very underrated brand. Best clubs all around.

Even more so, they're on average 300$ cheaper (for a set of irons) than the other 3 big names and you're getting right around the same distance and quality of build.

Awesome demo. I've been missing the demos, however I still watch all the course vlogs. I've been watching for quite some time and always use these before purchase of a new club/clubs. Ive recently started testing for My Golf Spy and I can contribute most of my testing methods to your influence. Thank you Rick for all that you (and Pete) do for the game. Love all of your stuff man.

2:17 Cobra should pay you for that shot! :D I personally love the look of it. Those spin numbers are amazing. I kinda want one of those even though I don't need a new wedge.

Just bought 2 brand spanking new of them two years old plastic still on them. $130 for the pair. They are so heavy. Like the Russian in Snatch. "I like heavy. Heavy is reliable" What an awesome looking pair of wedges. I Can't wait to hit them. Summer is around the corner. Canada sucks for golf. Mind you we are going to have an early spring this year. Might be playing on Sunday.

Performance wise I don't disagree with you at all, but there's millions spent on marketing appeal to sell clubs, those who do it well aren't getting it wrong as shown on their bottom line figures.

I have this wedge in 60 degree versatile and blacked out. It is not rusty at all and I’ve had it a season now. I use it when the pins tight on the green or I have to go over an obstacle. I just got a 40 yard chip in birdie with it. It hits it high lob without even opening the face. High spin stops right where it lands.

I have a 56 & 60 versatile grind. No rust whatsoever, they’re raw stainless steel. I even polished them a bit when they were looking a bit too ratty… cheap, good.

The Pūr wedges are 304 Stainless Steel so it will resist rust. Raw carbon steel (1020, 1025, 8620) will rust significantly if unprotected.

There were PureSpin wedges (diamonds on the face), there is a company called Pure Navy that makes a lovely line of Wedges as in shoes...your better half may know about these. They are just leaving it open for customization....adding more it wouldn't be "pur"

  • @SuperDukeSthlm

Been playing these for three seasons now. Being a hacker I don’t change wedges every two weeks, so I’ve worn my 56° out by now (got a new one).
What finally happened is that the “shell” cracked and started to get bubbly just around the leading edge. To it’s defense I’ve spent a lot of time in bunkers (practicing as well) and it has suffered well over 1000 sand shots.
Despite that, there is no rust what so ever.
Have the Pūr as 52,56 and 60°, like them all.

ordered my gap wedge (50 degree versatile grind) 9/27/2017 and was delivered 3 days later. I hit balls 2-3 times per week, and I play minimum 1x per week sometimes 2. No Rust cleans up nicely, love the club.

I've had a pair of these (54 versatile, 60 widelow) since they came out. There's been a bit of bag chatter, and faster than normal wear but I'm still seeing great spin on the course. There's also absolutely no sign of rust what-so-ever. I need to think about replacing the AW from my set with a 50 soon. Love these wedges!

  • @tylershumaker4242

These wedges are not rust resistant, they are effectively RUST PROOF. Made from stainless steel so that they should not rust even over a log period of time. At least that's what cobra is saying. Just got mine in 50, 55, and 60. Loving them so far. Also these wedges have loft specific grooves to maximize spin on all shots. Pretty cool stuff coming from cobra these days.

Really like your reviews but I've noticed you don't seem to mention what kind of golfer these are for anymore, this was always a really useful part of your review, it's very difficult buying clubs when you're not sure how easy they are to hit so keeping this in any review would be beneficial. With wedges especially it's hard to know!

Which would you choose between the Cleveland rtx 3.0 and this wedge? Where would you rank it along the other wedges you tested?

  • @joeperez3520
    @joeperez3520 7 років тому

There have been wedges by "Pure Spin." Interesting that it is rust-resistant. The *back* of the wedge, with that notch, resembles an old Cobra Trusty Rusty (by Phil Rogers) 56* wedge I owned. That one was *designed* to rust (hence the name). Have they been using that notch in the back on a regular basis? What's the swingweight? My Trusty Rusty was D1 (normal SW are D4-5), and if this Cobra is a little light, faster swing speed might account for the increased spin.

Hey rick. the cleaveland rtx 3.0 you and pete tested were as high as 12,700 spin. i beleave it was a spin off comp between you and pete, and i think pete won by a very small margin. going by that video the cleavelands rtx 3.0 beats the cobra pur by a 1000. but in sayin that i love the look of this wedge. if the price is right i would deffo consider puting this in the bag. other wise ill just stick to the cleaveland rtx 3.0 for now great wedge in my opinion!!

A macron (/ˈmækrɒn, ˈmeɪ-/) is a diacritical mark: it is a straight bar (¯) placed above a letter, usually a vowel. Its name derives from Greek μακρόν (makrón), meaning 'long' since it was originally used to mark long or heavy syllables in Greco-Roman metrics. It now more often marks a long vowel. So.... the - over the u gives it a long sound as if you would spell " Pure " without actually using the e. Hope that helps.
P.S. Can you please explain the " grind " on the club and what would be a good one for a high-handicapper? Thanks.

I just bought 2 of them....looks and price were the selling feature. I've been using vokey wedges for many years....before that Cleveland. I typically keep my wedges too long - to the point where there isn't much roughness left to the grooves or hitting area. Had to replace my 56 last year - and it is still a vokey. When I go out to play or practice I'll get to make a relatively good comparison between the 2. Because of the soft feel....the material of the clubhead may be softer....probably you have to be careful with the clubs banging around in the bag so that they don't look all messes up - or worse start getting dents in the hitting area.
