Thanks, and here I thought my training should consist only on area 51 arcade.
The memories with my dad playing this and its sequels... He passed last year but still remember quoting "Yeeeeehawwwww" af the dinner table like it was yesterday. Miss you dad
I hear ya man. This game brings back memories of good, simpler times. If your dad was a fan of this game, then he was my kind of guy. 👍🏼
"You mess with the bull, you get the horns!!"
I feel sorry for people who missed out on gaming in the 90's.
My husband and I will still randomly quote, "There's porkrinds by the water tower." Good stuff.
What's hilarious to me is that these devs would go on to become Gray Matter and make the best Wolfenstein game of all time, 2001's Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Nice.
thats a good one!
Played this front to back when it released. That soundtrack is amazing. We still quote "My Baby's All Liquored Up" regularly.
I loved this game as a kid.
Duuuuude! I forgot this game existed! I remember seeing it at an Office Supply store, because they sold a few PC games. Thank you for visiting such a forgotten relic!
Love that game, I wish the make new version of that game. This game has some fun memories.
Let's not go and give women ☕ any ideas let's leave this in the past where it belongs.
I tried so much to like this game back then...
There is also Redneck Deer Huntin' which is also from the same series, and still uses the Build Engine, but it is more of a hunting simulator.
We played this a lot when we were kids.. definitely one of the most memorable games from my childhood
What's funny is I live in Arkansas and the creators nailed what it's like here LMAO! When my family moved here from California my friend showed me the first episode of Beverly hillbillies and I got nervous but thank God it wasn't like that lol!
You caaaaan't kill me, I wiiiiiiill not die!
I bought this game new as a teen - I thought it was a great. lol
Only played this in 2012 and I thought it was great! so much fun. Loved the soundtrack
I loved this gamne as a kid. It was hard as hell
I absolutely loved this game.
Maaaaan....my buddy Jeff and I used to play the crap outta this game back in the day. This and Doom were his first PC games. Mine was Star Wars Dark Forces.
I used to play this. It was hilarious
This is a masterpiece...
I had a friend who played this. I may get this and get out my Rockabilly CD collection to play in the background!
You always pick such great and fascinating games to review. Keep doing what ur doing. U rock!
excellent video FNA! Impressively, this game (which I'd never heard of) seems to hit on every "things that annoy me" nerve and put them all into a game LOL. Happy to have you play it, summarize it, and enjoy it for me :-)
dosbox-X is the best option to run old dos and windows 95 games! Try that!
After beating it the regular way, I messed with the program to improve the weaponry. Dynamite got 10 times the range (actually ALL the weapons got 10 times the range).
The nice thing about the ripsaw, is that it has a melee mode, that requires no ammo. It's far more powerful than the crowbar. It's a bit like DooM's chainsaw. It won't protect you from damage, but it seems to have a small stun factor, that will slow down your enemy's attacks.
My cousin had this game back in the day. I played some and tried to get into it, but it never held my attention past the first couple of levels or so. I think by that point I was a bit burnt out on "Doom Clones" and was much more into games like Starcraft, which came out the following year. But much like you said, it was kind of funny at first and had a simple charm about it that made it somewhat entertaining and I wouldn't mind giving it a try again sometime. Thanks for the great video and stay safe out there!
Alright it’s Friday already! This is a great way to start the week and two videos in just a few days, even better. I only played this game when it came out for about an hour, and then went back to whatever we were playing at the time.
1:12 how can you leave off ' Git off ma lawn!" ?
Haha. The dynamite was pretty badly broken in this.
I agree with this review. A fun , cleverish game. Pretty good, but by no means great.
Holy shit... My best friend's dad built computers as a hobby when we were kids. I vaguely remember him thinking this game was more appropriate for kids to play then Doom or Duke Nuke 'Em. I vividly remember the night his mom walked in on us playing this game, flipping out and promptly driving us to Wal-Mart where she bought my friend a copy of Doom. She was ultra religious and somehow Doom was less offensive to her southern sensibilities than this fluffer butter of a game.
had this but it was so hard i couldn’t get past the 3rd level
The Sewers stink
We ain't gonna talk about how you complete the levels?
I got this game for Christmas one year and could never get it to work even on a Windows 98 PC. It was a boxed set too with the sequel, expansions, and the "cuss pack." The good build engine games are all constructed around gags, but they also have solid game play and excellent weapon design. This . . . does not.
All I really can say is......wow...I think I have now seen everything in this world. Thanks Aaron!
The 'drunk' mechanic was used in Duke Nukem Forever.
wow! I played this back in grade school... awesome!
Just played through the expansion(not gonna touch the base game at all) and gonna move on to Rides Again. Played it on Raze source port, wish I had the knowledge or tools to mod this game since just making better balancing to damage taken from enemies,nerfing/reworking Vixens and reworking the bullet spread and hit detection a little would go a long way. Not to mention making a map pack with all these wonderful looking textures(to me still look best out of any Build game) would make it into a well remembered game. I'll give it my all to find the tools necesary for these changes so I can make them
Double battered and dixie fried!
I remember seeing this one in the store back in the day but I never got around to trying it. I was probably too busy with Rise of the Triad... damn I have to dust that one off and try it again :D
I loved the soundtrack to this.
I can't believe A-aron said "TIT"! I feel like you're so wholesome!
Crazy
this was huge in the arcade when it first came out. this was the first time we got a "can of whoop ass" reference in a game, if im not mistaken
sigh... this was during a golden age.. of at least pc games.. where level design was interesting. i dont feel that way now days. but i'd like to see a remaster of this for sure. also a remaster of "blood" would be great.
Reverend Horton Heat in the soundtrack?!? Cool!
You should review X-Com Enforcer for additional UAP defense training...
Yee haw! That there Build engine sure renders up a purty scattergun don't it!
Yeah Duke Nukem I always get those two mixed up your right
Were those the aliens from Mac & Me at 4:11 😂?
Based on true story
Fallout 3's "Point Lookout" DLC is the spiritual successor to this game...
It's not the best Build Engine game, probably not even in the top 5, but I still enjoy it. It could do with some Nightdive TLC.
Doom but hillbillies edition
Never played this game. But I know of Civvie11's review. Fun video. Thanks for recommending this and the GDX system
I don't think I would play this game back in the day a lot of these games like this is like a Duke Nukem knock off it would get old playing games like this
Heh, for a moment I thought today was Friday.
"The texture are ugly" ? No?
I play this game to completion every night.
OMG!!!!! WWF (WWE Before the got sued by the World Wild life Fund) Hill Billy Jim! LMAO!!!!!!!!
Somehow it was too difficult and the level design was garbage. But I liked the style . Lefties would hate it
Lot worse? Yeah but I think I could do a lot better too.
You're not wrong.
First!?
So you're going around rescuing a pig and why does these games always copy off of Doom can't they come out with original ideas
I found the silliness to be too much, really.
This game is so problematic. Its punching down on poor southern people without color. These are marginalized oppressed people. The developers should be ashamed.
[Fry squinty eyed meme]
Loved this game
