- In Ontario, it's going to be a lot harder to buy alcohol in the province over the next couple of weeks.
Thousands of workers with the Liquor Control Board of Ontario ( LCBO) went on strike Friday.
The issue at the centre of the job action? Premier Doug Ford's ambitious plans to make alcohol more accessible throughout Ontario.
This is a goal employees say could put their jobs under threat. Mackenzie Gray explains.

The LCBO does not control tobacco, cannabis, etc, so shut the LCBO down and let retailers get a license to sell.
The highest paid retail workers, that get benefits and pension want more..... Can't wait for privatization.
Lmao it’s time for the LCBO to go. Put the Liqour in grocery stores, corner stores and independent stores. A Liqour store closed early and on holidays is dumb. It’s been dumb.
This is one thing I wouldn’t mind being privately owned
Bye bye unions
It's not the best time to strike . People are already pissed off with the way the economy is going . The government can collect the same amount of taxes without the expense of staff benefits and building costs . These people think Canadians are stupid .
Ontario getting on track.
All the alcoholics and partiers will be following this story minute by minute😂
Get rid of lcbo, useless.
you are cashiers period.
With no alcohol, everything would be better!
They are a monopoly and do over $2.5 billion in sales annually. They say they give back to Ontario but I haven't seen a single thing they have contributed to the hard working Ontarians. They need to go.
They could take their skills to work in a 711 if they aren’t happy with their current wage, benefits and pension
If they want a better salary they should find a better job.
go somewhere else
They're basically clerks , not skilled professionals.
This is a miracle for those who struggle with hard alcohol consumption.
Keep them closed 🤣. The unions are going to want their union dues sooner or later.
I’m confused, this 2.5 billion, is it profit or just sales? There is a big difference. Who buys the alcohol for lcbo stores? Who pays the lcbo workers? LCBO is not exactly a pillar of the community or a charity last time I checked. 😅
1. this model is terrible for consumers, treat ontarians like adults and allow them access to alcohol when and where they want, 2. if we are that reliant on LCBO for provincial revenues we have a bigger fucken problem, i think we can afford to dissolve the lcbo
