  • Point load test is commonly used to estimate the strength of rock or concrete. It is a simple test that can be used for almost all types of rock samples. In this video, sandstone core samples were tested. This video also shows what can go wrong with this test and how we shall be mindful of of the obtained results.

    Thanks! I suppose for axial test, sample should be properly prepared for evenly distributed forces. In rock lab all samples cut with microns precision.

    what is the difference between this point load tests and model PIL-7 point load tests on rock strength tests??

    in 0:57, why measure the length of the sample(L) from the middle???

    You didn’t mark it at all. You skipped an entire step
