Can You Beat Fallout New Vegas With Only Euclid’s C-Finder? (in text form)
I started things off by naming myself Karen, because I said in the sometimes officially Christian Ratatouille Fan Club Discord Server that I would, made myself look like a Karen, and started assigning SPECIAL points. The C-Finder is unique. It is an Energy Weapon, but the damage it causes is not affected by any skills, I’ll explain more about that later, but because of how the C-Finder works and my unwillingness to rely on Speech, I evenly spread out my remaining points, picked Barter, Medicine, and Lockpick as my Skills, and Claustrophobia and Skilled as my Traits. Skilled gives a +5 to all skills and you’ll understand why I chose Claustrophobia in a bit.
There’s only one place in New Vegas to get Euclid’s C-Finder: Freeside. But you can’t just roll up to Freeside like a pimped out giraffe covered in glitter, you have to work for your tool. I did the usual song and dance with Chet and hit the road. My destination was Helios One because there are things there that need to be done in order for me to get my target designator. On my way there, I dropped a worthless snow globe on the ground a few times to see if it would break, passed by a memorial for those who ended but don’t deserve to be remembered, loosely attempted to lure a few dogs into land mines to watch their limbs get dismantled by the shrapnel, and passed through the Blind Deathclaw canyon. This is where the one Blind Deathclaw in the game was told to go by the other deathclaws to keep it from being weird around the children. The Blind one startled me good when it followed me into a shack. I’m not entirely sure how it got through the door, I just assumed it was some blind magic. I’m also not worried about offending any blind people, it’s not like they’ll be watching this.
Two more Deathclaws from over yonder ravaged my leather wrapped body while the worst humanity had to offer created holes in my body for the deathclaws to play with. They followed me, the murderers not the deathclaws, farther than I thought they would. I tried to lure them to a nearby Legion outpost but it didn’t work for 2 reasons. 1) It was an NCR outpost and 2) they were not interested in coming anywhere near the trailer park. Bunch of good for nothing good for nothings. The NCR Rangers were also uninterested in going and attacking the marauders, which was a shame. I was counting on one of the Rangers dying so I could convince Haggerty that I was an NCR soldier. Equally disappointing was the lack of any sort of NCR uniform into the outpost itself.

Hi, sorry for being off topic. I'm an aspiring animator and I've recently released a Fallout New Vegas animation that took me 5 months to do, but UA-cam doesn't promote my videos so I have to do it myself. I'd be glad if you come and have a look :)
You can actually unglitch the C Finder by firing it then quick saving before the animation completes. Exit the game completely. Then reopen the game and load the quicksave. Once in game the animation will complete and laser will fire. This has happened to me many times and this has fixed it every time.

In terms of bug reproducibility (I'm a software engineer), that is absolutely, fantastically, pants-on-head. G-damn, Bethesda, you really do make the best games. (Behaving according to rules? Too easy. Emergent complex, non-deterministic behaviours where bugs are features? That's the money.)

lukenotskywalk lol ironically probably not, because you’ll end up breaking the game in some unforeseen way, like killing too many people in free side despawns a floor in the boomer’s base or some shit. Not sure if that was the actual cause, but it killed my murder run.

To be honest there’s probably about 50 mods to fix this thing, one totally re skins it to look more “cyber-punk” changing both the aesthetic of the gun and laser strike animation.. if you really wanted to make a play with it that is 😂

It dawned upon me that technically if you activate Helios one before getting the C-finder there’s a chance the kid would just fire the gun and annihilate free-side without warning. Obviously the game doesn’t let that happen, but it would be theoretically a possibility

I mean to be fair there really aren't that many. The vast majority of the 'unique' weapons in New Vegas are just alternate versions of existing weapons. Plus most of them you have to just buy from the Gunrunners and that ruins the idea of a unique weapon to me.

@@joshuaspargo2578 The list of Unique weapons sold by Vendortron is as follows, Embrace of the Mantis, Greased Lightning, Two-Step Goodbye, Gehenna, Bozar, Li'l Devil, Medicine Stick, Paciencia, Sleepytime, Cleansing Flame, MF Hyperbreeder Alpha, Sprtel-wood 9700, The Smitty Special and Esther. That's a total of 13 unique weapons sold by Vendortron at Gunrunners at various points in the game.
Also 'That Gun' Isn't a Unique since 2 of them exist in the game, you buy one from Cliff Briscoe then the 2nd is in the back room of his shop.
Yes i was exaggerating by saying 'most' of them are sold by Gunrunners but a lot of them are. Though it isn't an overstatement to say that almost all of New Vegas Unique weapons are either sold by a merchant of some descript or carried by a named NPC. It's always been one of my biggest issue with the game. Luckily fixed with mods i use when playing.

I found the PERFECT way to get to the strip as fast as possible without worrying about Deathclaws. You can head straight there from Doc Mitchell's house without even having a weapon.
Get Pip boy from school house, go up to Mountain, sneak pass the pass where the big bounder drop down

There’s a bug where you favorite any type of ammo using a GUI glitch, and then equip that ammo with the C Finder in your hand and it’ll give you that many charges
Ya i had that idea not to long ago but it wouldnt shoot at all, i reloaded a save and tried it again, didnt do anything i think mine bug cause i rarely use it.

I have never used this weapon in game. It seemed not worth the effort for a one use a day, use outdoors only weapon. . Diverted all the power at Helios One equally for the science skill book reward instead.

I think hes referring to truly unique weapons, that have no base game equivalent.
That Gun is unique (GRA adds .223 pistols).
Euclid's is unique.
Not sure what the third one is. The tesla beaton maybe?

@@Taolan8472 That Gun, This Machine, and the Tesla Prototype aren't truly unique. There are off the top of my head, 4 in base game and 3 in DLCs.

the c finder can actually get two charges in it. the daily charge you get goes directly into the ammo counter, not the loaded ammo counter. So once you get the charge, reload the gun to move the number over. this will trick the game and let you get a second charge if you wait another day.

Bethesda made the engine and enforced the limits on Obsidian. They also published it. I see what you're saying but Bethesda handed them a foundation made of paper and told them to build a skyscraper.

Someone made a mod that fixes the C-Finder with one specific change, wherein it gives you ammo based on the time instead of being based on time passed.
