I'm just gonn create a scenario in my mind that at some point Marianne creates a painting that becomes widely famous and is put into a musuem where Heloisse would visit one day and see her artwork and when she turns around she sees Marianne and they lived happily ever after. :))
❤ It's a very poetic idea. The determination to keep going while dreaming of someone you love and he unexpected reward. The beauty of the naïve. That’s the kind of ideas I get. However, thanks to this movie, I'm done with the poet's choice. I've become obsessed with the lover's choice. Memories are not that interesting for me anymore. Not to live life through them, at least. I once read that big sofisticated plans are the common choice of people who let fear stop them from getting what they want. There is a mindset stopping them from being forward. And that is mostly due to socialisation, specially for women. Doubting that life can be different than it is now and that it can be great. This reminds me of the "rules, conventions, ideas" Marianne mentions when talking about her first portrait. The one Héloïse found without presence, real feelings. I love how Marianne was true to her beliefs. However this story has as many posibilities as people exist in the world. A practical person would have crossed the theatre, sat next to Hèloïse and let things happen. Most men would have been way more pushy than that. Marianne, instead, looked at Héloïse from across the place (during hours!). She let her go for the second time and then said: "I saw her one last time. She didn't see me". That's is 100% poet's choice. We can see the same restrictions at the beginning or the movie when Marianne could only see what was going wrong (Héloïse walking ahead of her on her own at the beach and not smiling). Until... Sophie asked her: have you tried to be funny? Interestingly, on their last night together, they are in bed talking about having lost time--Héloïse makes a joke. She tells Marianne: "Yes, it took you some time to be funny". Most relationships end, other continue with an extint fiire, but see how tragic are love stories between women compared to, let's say Brooklyn. When there's a man involved, he usually keeps dreaming. And the woman usually comes back to the man. We, as female, still have so much work to do regarding getting what we want and not letting go of dreams. The world will always say most things are impossible for women yet possible for men. We must filter self doubt, external bias and internal discouraging voices. We must listen to our true desires and go for it. No matter what. Easier said than done, but one of the things this movie taught me is that when you stop overthinking and actually look at what you want face to face, dreams might come true.
In my 50’s and NO film has affected me like this. What Celine and these women created and showed me I have not seen or experienced before. Deserved even so much more than it won. Celine wants to inspire other film makers to different ways to show love and equality and I hope she has. Knowing you live in memories now and that you truly have touched this person for the last time☹️, 💔. Thanks for posting this.

This is the best movie I’ve ever seen and serious impacted my feelings on love. It’s so heartbreaking that they didn’t end up together and for once I wanted them too. Beautifully written, filmed and acted and even the choice of attire, dialogue was extraordinarily done. The one thing that affected me the most was the look or gaze of both women from start to finish. I knew what they were feeling and thinking with just the gaze they gave each other. The effectiveness of that gaze was the most erotic, sensual, sexy and at the same time magnetic thing I’ve ever seen on film. I was speechless and couldn’t look away from the screen. Like the other patrons in the movie, I sat there motionless after it ended knowing that what was just portrayed was something that was a touching and changing lifetime moment. I would rather experience love like that in two weeks than anything less for a longer time. 😯 😘
@ wow, thank you for replying in such a beautiful and well spoken way to my simple comment, I truly loved that. I don't have much to add to that other than quoting what Marianne said to Heloise in bed: "Don't regret. Remember." I felt that quote during the final close up of Heloise listening to the song, specially when she started smiling through tears; she remembered. It was beautiful
