Degree, degree, degree! Don't lose sight of your goal. I have several friends (I'm now 73) who took a semester or year off. The year off turned into decades off and they wish that they had somehow 'toughed it out' and finished the degree.

I'd suggest finishing your degree first. Laura Farms is not going away and it's very easy to postphone the degree forever beyond that. As there will always be something more important etc. UA-cam is a complete time sink.
Hence, tackeling the degree first puts that out of your way.

1:34 - Love it. Waved to your own shadow. Finish your degree. Once you stop or take a pause, it's harder to get re-started again and requirements for graduation could change so get it done. Your Laura Farms stuff can be done when time permits.

Laura Farms will not be here forever unfortunately, but your schooling will be. As for us, We will be here for when you get back. Do not get so caught up in this filming and forget your real life. This comment here is so right. I took the easy way out and skipped stuff in school due to the fact that i knew i already had an job. I ended up disliking the job after awhile and left it. Now 10 years later im regreting the fact that i didn't finish the last bit in school. Wouldve made it easier for me now if only i had sucked it up and just finish.
Anyways its your life and you have to decide yourself. But my advice is stay in school!

@@Yolt1337 I can personally second this as well. Took me 7 years to get my degree, and it was so tempting to just get on with life. However now I passed a month ago or so I am so happy it's over with. Weight off my shoulders, and I can proudly look back and say I've done it. And I never have to think about it again. Big relief for me.

Hey Laura. I'd like to see some of the general maintenance tasks you have to perform around the farm. It would also be neat to see what your attention is directed to during the winter. As far as school goes, do what works for you. I work in education, took a loooong time to finish a degree and think that not everyone MUST go to college. Plenty of great people, smart people, successful people did not earn a college degree; and they are still great, smart and successful. Should you choose to finish up online, that business degree may help with the side of farming we rarely see; doing the books and making sure there is enough money to keep the equipment running and the farm in business. Glad that you started to share with us your life as a farmer.

as a driver myself i know you get alot of time to think when your just sat there driving away, and sometimes this can be a bad thing as you talk yourself into doing the wrong thing and taking the easy way out. my advice to you Laura is to finish college and keep on doing youtube ( mental health pending ) back up qualifications are always a bonus. dont rush into full blown wifey mode just yet once your married.
field work content is interesting but honestly i recon most of us are here for your personality not tractors and corn, so this winter do some QnA's, walk n talk vids, build snow men, a day in the life of college, cooking with laura series, top 5 pranks that seriously get up Grants nose, you get the gist. xo

Ideas for video's during the winter... Equipment repair, "projects", what farmers really do in the winter (pretty sure they don't hibernate) and maybe sit down with your grandfather/mother around a nice fire and share stories about what it was like farming when they were kids (bit of living history)... for example: the great dust bowl may have been a bit before their time, but I'm sure they heard stories... how did their farms survive? For that matter, how do farms survive now...
My mum always told me that the one thing no one can ever take from you is what's in your head... stay in school and finish, learn as much as you can... always... we'll be here with you.

Although you'll be back in the spring you have SO much momentum in Laura Farms that it would be a bummer to not keep content coming in the off season. At the same time finishing your degree is crucial so I would suggest both. It's hard work but that's what you do right? You work hard. The channel is monetized so keep some money coming in and all of us watching. In the winter show us equipment work, winterizing buildings, silos and rolling stock, procurement plans, what’s on the list for the spring, etc, etc. I’m sure dad has a long to do list getting ready for spring. What does that look like? Your channel is awesome. Thanks for the look into farming and the heartland of America! My thoughts for what they are worth. ;-)

The most obvious suggestion in my mind is off season maintenance of equipment/tractors/implements,everything from oil changes to complete overhauls where needed. Other than that there is cleaning, organizing, ordering, and, playing in the snow with quads and sleds. Maybe start with maint/prep of those! And/or show us the new ones you get!
I like the look you chose for this video Laura, like it alot. The "hollywood" look is fine for some places but in the shop or in the field it just doesn't set right. Mabeline and a few other companies probably hate me right about now but I'm honest.

Well it's been my experience that you should definitely concentrate on your efforts on the thing you're going to do for the long term. So it would be my advice to focus on the farm and your future there and your life with your soon to be husband. Farming is hectic enough as it is, to add on school and that bonding time in your honeymoon stage is going to be very taxing on both of you. The first 2 years of a marriage is the absolute most important time for building that bond and relationships with each other. There ya have it lol from an old ranch hand to a young farm girl that is my advice. God bless you and God bless your coming wedding and marriage. God bless the rest of your family as well. winter-time was mostly for the repair jobs that couldn't be done any other time... new canvasses on the swather? winter job... rings & bearings on the bucket tractor? 'quickie' winter job.

You can do tours of the town and surrounding towns and do interviews with other farmers, tours of their farms.

Finish school. Get a degree in anything. No one can take that away. Trust me. I let work take priority thinking I'll finish later. It never happens. I regret it. Love your smile and happiness. Keep spreading that.

I'm a student myself now, and from my perspective you should finnish school work first. Keep the best for the last and make sure not to have to go back to your school work after a period of freedom. UA-cam will grow as long as you keep yourself and I would give it the full attention as soon as your study is finished.
Good luck with the 'laatste loodjes' of school as we would call them in Dutch ;)

I want a tractor just like this one ! Now I have to figure out how to park it inside of my apartment here in Cincinnati. Finish school Laura just in case the tractor gets a flat tire.

Do you guys ever harvest corn in winter? It is sometimes done here in ON when market prices are low. It saves a lot of drying energy as well.

See, Laura Farms (as good as it is) could be over in just one breath. But having a degree can never be over. I would always prioritize three things: love, health and school. Everything else is secondary.

Grant's got it easy moving dirt. Try moving dirt back to the top of a vineyard hill in the Mosel valley of Germany.
Get your degree. Then get an MBA. You can never be to smart.

Hi Laura. Don't walk away from educational opportunities at this point of your life Our brains absorb more intelligence when we are young and education is something that no one can take from you. Stay in school! Joe

Finish school now. I took time off after two years and joined the Navy. Got my AS in Computer Controllers and Programming, paid for by Uncle Sam, but still wish I would have finished my BA back when I was younger and didn't have all the responsibilities of full on adulthood (Wife, Kids, Job as well as all the other things). It is always doable to go back, but it gets harder the longer you put it off.

I hope you're putting that dirt that you're scraping up in lowline areas of your farm and build it up to where it doesn't flood that's the best thing to do

Finish school :) barrel right on through...
Make sure though you guys take a nice Honeymoon. Since it'll be December maybe head toward some sunshine or if you guys like winter sports go skiing. Work will always be there so set it aside. Carve out time to explore something totally new and different together as a husband/wife. :)
