What these are teaching me is that Luigi's Mansion 2 HD is kind of a Twilight Princess HD situation, where it looks like you remember it, not how it was, so it SEEMS like less of an upgrade than it actually is
For number 1, it's more like they fixed an inconsistency. By the time the camera cuts to the other side of the door, Luigi has already turned the handle. That means he would of had to have turned it twice in the 3DS version. Not impossible, but also not necessary.
A difference I found was that Luigi no longer looks like he's shrieking in terror when he runs if he is scared in the HD ver, which is sad because I liked that little detail in the 3ds version.
What makes it even worse is that in one of the early trailers for this remaster, his mouth was opened when running in terror. The fact that his mouth is now closed when running just makes less sense and feels very stiff… This game is the equivalence of the issues Conker’s Bad Fur Day: Live & Reloaded had. Add new facial expressions while also removing some, making certain moments not hit has hard as they did originally…
Also, one fact in the Haunted Towers is the entrance for B-3. When Luigi opens the door, you can even see the rain and the rust more clearly than in the original.
Honestly it helps them look more ghastly. Their opaque appearance in the original ironically made them look the least ghoulish out of all of the enemies.
@@piercemat331 would have been cool but that's too much to ask for this game I do think it would be a bit out of place though, changing something that big, but yeah secret mine was way too short
it doesn't move on the switch version, which is more realistic as most door knobs only move one side, or the devs simply didn't bother since they figured it was high enough poly to be hard enough to tell
In the 3ds version when luigi exits the level through pixelization there's no music but in the HD version the lab musics starts playing it bugs me because the music stats again after he arives in the lab. I hope that gets patched.
I'd like to point out the Mission Complete screen's music is bugged, it plays the bunker theme, then cuts to the mission complete theme, then cuts back to the bunker theme.
I’m wondering with all these changes to cutscenes whether they were entirely reanimated or simply upscaled and tweaked. When you put many of them side by side, there’s quite a few noticeable differences, but they’re still timed exactly the same. I’d love to know!
Most probably they still have the same rigs, then just replaced the models with the HD models and then retweak the rigs that they originally had. If you have the source code, it is easy to just replace the 3d models while still having the rigs (the "animation") and keyframes intact.
im surprised you haven't mentioned how E. Gadds theme starts playing right before the victory theme at the end of every level. even at the end of boss levels, which sounds strange in some cases. though that isnt a graphical difference
I can't remember if this was actually the case but for the OG I remember you being able to encounter non scripted boos again (the scripted ones being in A-4 and E-2) until you caught all the boos the game, HD it's a 1 time thing and I can't remember if that was always the case or if it's a change
One thing I noticed that I think was on Nintendo switch but not sure if ws on 3Ds is if you blow something off the polter gust if luigi is too clouse to a wall or object won't work
There was a glitch in de scarescraper where a key just wouldnt spawn. I havent encountered this in the remake however in the remake i have encountered that a piece of furniture gives me like 3 or 4 keys out of nowhere
They still didn’t fix the part where after the Underground Expedition mission and the result screen, the underground theme continues during the loading screen.
I agree! They probably changed it for Switch since the slight clipping between his arm/hands and his hips would be more noticeable at larger resolutions... but the straighter line-of-action of his arms in 3DS is better posing overall I'd say. Gives more weight to him holding out the torch, and makes for a more stylised/cartoony silhouette than having his elbows sticking out slightly like in the Switch posing. Ah well, just a minor detail, and I like most of the other changes they made!
I had this game for the 3ds, I never beat it , but the game was so fun I didn’t care. I didn’t think they could make the game look better until I saw how bad the graphics actually were on the 3ds version. I didn’t remember it looking this low poly, is it just me?
Wdym "bad graphics"? They still look great and hold up very well (for the most part atleast). Especially if you upscale it on an emulator, it looks phenomenal
I find it annoying that the bunker theme plays too much. When you have completed a level, it plays. When in the original it was just silent until the ‘level complete’ theme would play.
@@DogsRNice That's a fair opinion. But it's part of the Mario series, so of course it'll be priced at $60. Pikmin and Metroid? Those games don't sell nearly as much, so they get the lower price treatment.
It doesn't make sense when he enters through the Hollow Tree Final Door and instead of looking up and shocked of the Ascending stairs, HD looks at the 3 stairs and just moves his head up without lifting his eyes up. Didn't like that detail

Nintendo really gave the boos an aura boost in the hd version 💀
Yeah, like if they were in Dragon Ball. 😂
That “aura boost” and the refined facial expressions and animations help make the Boos look more sinister!
Honestly it helps them look more ghastly. Their opaque appearance in the original ironically made them look the least ghoulish out of all of the enemies.
I'm surprised how no one has brought up the fact that they nerfed his scared run animation, his mouth doesn't move at all when he's scared
