Joe: Lifting heavy is controversial in the bodybuilding community, why do you do it? Ronnie: I like it. Plain and Simple. Ronnie seems like a genuine guy. Great interview.
To this day he will not say that lifting had added to the damage he already had in his back. He always says that had nothing to do with it, he always says it didn’t do any extra damage, it didn’t make things any worse. Gotta love him for believing that truly.
Coleman's mental fortitude surpasses his physical strength by a million times... imagine going through everything he went through and still smile and laugh and be cheerful like everything is normal... legend, role model and GOAT of bodybuilding...❤️
That was so simple yet powerful... This man had over a dozen surgeries, is in pain all day everyday & takes it like a soldier because he can still do what he loves... Ppl like Ronnie showed me to always look on the bright side & not stress over what I can’t control
Joe is definitely paid off. Saying cops are necessary? HA for who rich white people who hate blacks?? Everytime we call the cops in lower class neighborhoods the cops threaten us and take a family member to jail and give them charges so they cant work and support our family anymore! DISBAND ALL POLICE HIRE SOCIAL WORKERS AND HAVE A FEW MILITARY FOR SHOOTINGS!
I have absolutely no experience or interest in bodybuilding, but this is one of my favorite podcasts that I've listened to. He's gotta be one of the most likable guys
Brings me almost to tears to see his current struggles but what strikes me even deeper is his personality and resolve through it all. God Bless you big Ron, you inspired so many people to take off and fly towards their aspirations, I pray that one day you can walk unassisted again. You will do it!!!! Yeah Buddy!!
I’ve had dinner with Ronnie multiple times... he’s truly a gentle giant! He floats wherever he goes... he’s so full of joy he never touches the ground!
He was talking about the caliper test he knows he wasnt that lean but he has troubke getting his poiny across because of all the pain killers over the years
i wouldnt say hes clueless, the measurements probably did output -2. They are not made for someone 300lbs with what is essentially no fat. im 7.5% at 225, thats 15.75 lbs. given a good amount of that is around my organs (and my stomach), not even close to a contest-weight someone like him woulf be... at 295lbs 4% is 12lbs. which is pleanty to be sustainable. He would be at 1% for probably only 72hours the week of the contest
Brah, it made me feel so good to see this pod only be up for 1.5hrs and already damn near 200k Ronnie is a mf legend we all have found motivation in this guy somewhere along the line.
You could tell a few times that Joe was having a hard time holding back his skepticism about some of Ronnie’s responses, but he politely rolled with it :)
Definitely! Having had multiple injuries and surgeries myself, including 4 on my spine and needing a fifth, it was definitely difficult listening to Mr. Coleman trying to answer Joe’s questions about his. All good.
Shaxx he is a legend because he is a 8 time Mr.Olympia, him and Lee Haney are the only ones in history to win the Olympia 8 times. Now lets see you win at least 1 mr.olympia before you act like a smartass in the comment section

Tôi là con hải sâm is literally in constant pain actually constant agony an it’s fine he can still train and do what he loves. That’s a beautiful mindset concentrate on the positives an deal with the negatives by concentrating on the positives
Joe: "Lifting heavy is always a controversial thing among bodybuilders ... what's your take on that?" First thing I think of is the clip of Ronnie saying "Everybody wanna be a bodybuilder, but don't nobody wanna lift no heavy ass weight!" lmao
Thats true, i have mad respect for him too, but the reason he's in this state today is because he never listened to doctors post surgery. If they tell you no weightlifting after spine operation and 4 days further you are on camera doing 300pound leg presses.... not talking shit about the man, let us learn from him
@@fredeheerser7914 Understand he paid the price to be the boss. Sacrifice is a MAJOR component to be at the top. Listening to his doctor wouldn't have gotten him 8 Mr. Olympians.
This is the best interview I've seen Ronnie do. He was really candid about everything and he still has that championship mentality. No doubt he will walk again. Yeah buddy!
Ronnie's still breaking screws in his back When I herniated a disc, I couldn't even stand up. Ronnie finished squatting 600lbs. That's insane to me. Legend
This interview made me realize how good joe is at interviewing. I have never seen Ronnie talk so casually EVER in an interview and the fact joe can create this same comfort with a theoretical physicist is a true talent
Yeah cuz in another interview (Valuetainment one) Ronnie didnt even want to answer the question about what he ate. I think its also because he respects Joe , cuz Joe also works out
Ronnie: “I miss them tremendously” Joe: “just because of the action?” Ronnie: “yeah...having a purpose”. That shit hit different. The way Ronnie said that and the face expressions he made...you can just tell he’ll give anything to have that time back.
I think people don't give him enough credit. He is an existentialist in every sense. A modern his existence proceeds his essence. The fact that he choose his path and acknowledged that there were risks is the same reason he continues to do so. I don't think the average person could even comprehend what it means to not only find ones essence in pursuit of it rather, as on Ronnie's case, find ones meaning and validate it by being the best of all time. Those who judge his decisions are those who are comfertable achieving mediocracy is this meaning life. Life has no inherent meaning, except it. You are here for no reason but you can find meaning, in a fleeting moment you can find meaning important to you.
@@JWeaver03 but on the flip side.. he was the best, look at anyone who is the absolute BEST in their field and i promise you it is their entire identity , it is completely who they are. that is what it takes to be the greatest of all time at something. with that being said there is a time when you should back off obviously, but some people just cant, that is his vice, that mindset got him to the highest point and is now taking him down.
That's because your right. It is their identity, its their essence as Sartre and other existentialist would call it. If an artist paints, his identity is as a painter. If he chooses to paint a masterpiece, it becomes a reflection of him. One can never disassociate with our passion. That said, he is a father, a officer of the law.. you can clearly see he identifies with other things as well. It's not psychologically unhealthy to live and/die, or to suffer for what makes are "essence".. Cognitive dissonance is unhealthy and those who don't understand likely suffer from dissonance on many levels.
Notice how he never feels bad for himself... "You just get used to it"

@@KOBD613BODYBUILDING I love this comment. Thank you.
