hmm. now, to really test the system you should've done it anonymously. Because, as a painter with a fiverr account, what really happens is 5 chats a day that come to nothing and maybe 1 or 2 jobs a month.
@alexbezeredi6044 I think there is also bit difference between making fiverr your job and making painting your job. From what I know is better to do like whole armies (same minies, same colour scheme, you can streamline it a bit) or like really big a precious models
EonsOfBattle did a similar test but anonymous and it didn't work either. I'm glad they didn't do it anonymous because my original take away was that if they had done it not anonymously it would have worked. Now I know it probably wouldn't have.
You guys have a really definitive style. I like how you block in the main colours, leave the edges simple and treat it like a vignette around a highly detailed centre that draws your eye in. Very cool.
At the very least, this shines a light on how hard being a creative is professionally. I sculpt minis and make 3D models for product design etc, am always improving but the living isn't quite enough. Great vid! 🎉
It is hell, not only does the client not know how much time certain things require, dispite how skilled you are, they don't really know what they want half of the time. Most believe that since it is a "hobby" you shouldn't get payed as a normal job. It became better lately.
And that is why you don't charge per hour.. You charge for the outcome (e.g., Quality gradings). The profit is in your skills which grows over time and gives better profit margins as you require less time for the same results at the same price. Next is of course based on demands which jobs you take on.
Cool project! I've done commission work full time for a while, but that really meant doing table-top quality armies/warbands and boardgame minis a lot. I've learned how to paint really quickly though. Once you have a good workflow and know how to put down colour and contrast and a focus point really quickly, and which details are important and which are not, you can paint really fast.
it's actually crazy to me just how beautiful a paint job you're able to get in 1.5-4hrs. For me to get close to the same would take 20-40 (which is a great reason for me to not do commissions!)
I am the same! I spent about 3 Months working on my OG Logan Grimnar ... As, I decided to PAINT his Shoulderpad by hand... I should have just ordered the right Waterslide Transfers... LOL! It is a bit "Off Line" and askew... But the overall result came out well! Very happy with it! Tabletop ready for sure!!!
I know this feeling well. Had some friends ask me to do some commission work for them after looking at some of my best pieces. What they don't realise is for a result like that, it can take me weeks to complete. Not sure they're willing to pay me a wage to have their Magnus the Red painted and finished in less than 5 months.
I would have loved to see a bit more of a summary about the financials at the end there. How many hours spent in total, and gross/net earnings after all your time/expenses.
It's always good to watch these, because I've legit seen people pass off Professionally painted Mini's as their own, when you know for a fact they aren't. Like when 1 guy out of his whole squad is just perfect, but the rest look like his tank, and the rest of his army in the box.... You *"know"*. But these do really look amazing. Nice.
i always enjoy these fiverr videoes ... it's just awesome to see how different people think how the wanna paint the mini. - thanks for a good video and thanks for keeping my hype up about painting and Merry Christmas
I do commission painting for a living, and I'm nowhere near as good a painter as either of you. However, you need to be able to scale up and down what level of painting you do to meet the amount of money charged. Something like a single Primaris Marine can cost $10 to paint if it's just color blocked in to meet minimums, or it can cost $25+ if it's going in a display case. One off miniatures will always cost more since there's not an army to batch paint and absorb time slips across the whole army. A Trooper might set you back, but the HQ will catch you up.
Merry Christmas guys - love the content and seems like a really great crew of people there. Hope to visit one day. Maybe combine in with a bit of Great Barrier Reef time so the rest of the family is keen for north Queensland!
That was really fun! Thanks for sharing that. Great, inspiring work as usual. I'm jealous... I wish I had my Squidmar Evolution 2024... waiting on H&S. Am enjoying my Squidmar Ultra 2024 in the meanwhile 🙂
I haven't done Fiverr yet, I've taken my commissions from social media (facebook, tumblr, twitter) and advertising at my FLGS. When I started out I really undervalued my skills (and still do to an extent) and I took on larger projects as well as single miniatures. Definitely not good for full time work, but something is better than nothing.
It blows my mind my mind how cool the Keeper of Secrets mini is and that you chose that specific time to put your sponsorship at that time. Is there a longer format video for how you painted this mini somewhere?
5:21 5sec more to put any kind off darker shadow in muscle lines would do a world off difference. especially between the toes so they don't look like they are melted together ;P why fully assemble before painting? found it much easier to paint each part then assemble afterwards. especially with the new magnet setup, those are suuuper cool, it would be easy to softly scrape off the paint and attach the magnet for the "perfect" spot ^^ ahh this brought back reminiscent off old times :P
🙏today i got my H&S Squidmar Evolution 2024 Black Edition....and its so beautifull, love it. Your channel is the one that bring me back to painting minis so often, you both are realy valuable. God bless you. Have a nice Christmas time
Thanks for a great video! Made be set up my paint station while i watched it, so i dont have ro do that after i but my kids to bed later thia evening. Gonna go straight to painting. Its been two weeks since last time.
Guys, this is absolutely incredible. I'm just completely amazed how much you are able to do in such a short amount of time and how stunning it turns out to be. And that Avatar in 4 hours? Just wow. Really makes me sad my mini wasn't one of the picked ones for these comissions :).
Very nice, I noticed that you had what appears to be a process chart in the table, left to right, starting with base coat, what is that qnd where can one get it?
You are the best Emil and Lukas. for christmas im getting some warhammer and star wars legion minis you have inspired me to paint more and more btw är från Sverige ❤😊
Oh that was a smooth move putting the add next to the painting since i wanted to see how you did the keeper i couldn't skip the add. ergh... i mean i always watch the ads!!!!! always... anyway. big brain move.
Great work, hope it was fun. I am curious if there were sample images provided by some and if some requested to know what paints were used, if so was that a hassle or just part the "billed time"?
How rude. Why would you commission someone, let alone a famous UA-camr, to paint your mini if you haven’t even bought it yet!? Very inconsiderate but unfortunately not surprising.
I've only ever done one commision job and I did it really cheap because the guy having looked at my insta said he loved my style and that he would cherrish the models etc... about two months later he was selling the models on eBay at double the price I sold them to him at. That one job was enough for me to know it's not for me, I still like painting minis as gifts for friends but I don't ever accept commisions now, especially when you consider all the hidden costs like the cost of paints, brushes, basing materials and the fact that normal minimum wage jobs have paid holidays included. Unfortunately, quite often art is something that people want to have but don't want to pay a fair price for. I think this video really shows that, I mean if Emil and Lucas can't make it pay (using the usual rate most people charge) then it's clearly a tall order for anyone to make a living doing it.
Hi folks ! I'm so triggered by gaps ... Guyz u can fill your gaps when you build model, first make a good deburring job for the piece to fit together perfectly and if it not enough, just add smoe plastic glue into little gaps, gw plastic will melt and fuze.
This was a great video! I haven't used a service like this before, but if I do I'll definitely tip! I was wondering when you set up your accounts was it clear it was you guys? If so do you feel your notoriety impacted who chose your services and how they rated your work? Again great work on all these pieces and thank you for putting out this video!
Do you guys wear a mask when you airbrush? Or use on of those filter things? I am curious if I should stop airbrushing in the house without a filter or a mask.
I tried commision painting for awhile and it sucks. Im just happy i figured out pretty quick that it wasnt for me. I still kove painting for myself and friends though
I have a tip for both of you…. Don’t eat yellow snow! Great job with the commissions you really demonstrated your raw talent for painting and the hobby … thanks for sharing 🍻👍
I was doing comissions for some time, not that I hated it, it was quite fun actually, because I had certain time limit and color scheme and it was an artistic challenge of sorts so I really enjoyed it, but this stuff worked when I had a relatively low paying part-time job, so I was paiting minis as one of the side hustles, as soon as I got to adequate pay it just wasn't profitable anymore and I had no time for it anyway due to more work and other stuff, so I just stopped. edited: also you should keep in mind that I'm not a squidmar and I had just 7-10 jobs a month, and even that way this actually was a good side job considering average hourly wage in my country
I have no art skills, can't see what colors go together and watch these channels to see how cool it would be if I did. But I recently discovered fiverr, and I've got projects I've been stuck on for years now being done by people who do. Couldn't be happier.

I like the ads being on the side, so I can still watch the painting while the sponsorship is being done.
It’s also an ingenious way to keep you from skipping, because you would be missing out on some of what you came for
I am blown away by the quality of every miniature with the amount of time spent!!
hmm. now, to really test the system you should've done it anonymously. Because, as a painter with a fiverr account, what really happens is 5 chats a day that come to nothing and maybe 1 or 2 jobs a month.
Yeah that's something to take into consideration, this was more to test what the average salary would be and how much work it is :)
My thoughts exactly
@alexbezeredi6044 I think there is also bit difference between making fiverr your job and making painting your job. From what I know is better to do like whole armies (same minies, same colour scheme, you can streamline it a bit) or like really big a precious models

@alexbezeredi6044if they would do this for salary they wouldnt need big setup nor camera and vid what ever... pleaseee
You guys have a really definitive style. I like how you block in the main colours, leave the edges simple and treat it like a vignette around a highly detailed centre that draws your eye in. Very cool.

The beauteous irony of watching this while painting commissions, hearing the same issues I've gone/go through, is both hilarious and humbling

If I started today, I might produce one mini as good as these by the time I die.
7:00 Definite "holy crap!" Moments looking up at the screen right there. 👏
That Morathi paint job was utterly stunning. So good!
Would love to see the tutorial aspect come back into these videos. You were great at that. Beautiful painting lads
Absolutely love that blue vs orange contrast on Thraka.
Lukas is an amazing painter I’m blown away by every piece!
Yes I love his painting :) I want something painted from him :D
That keeper of secrets was amazing. I would never have guessed it only took Lukas 3ish hours. tremendous skill!
16:20 Im glad Emil used some green with OSL in that paintjob. When i think green or purple i think Emil. Lovely paintjobs
I would have loved to see a bit more of a summary about the financials at the end there. How many hours spent in total, and gross/net earnings after all your time/expenses.

That moss looks so good!
So lucky the people that got their figures paint by you guys! great video
The Avatar, Morathi and the Keeper of Secrets in particular turned out amazing.
But all the minis looked great.
What I like most bout your videos is that you speak english so well despite you're not english native speakers like my self. Greetings from Poland!
Lucas struggles a bit, tho 😂

Congratulations to Lukas for finally getting a cookie!!
Oh yeah and great paint jobs
I have not watched in a while.. I like this format. Very entertaining. I like the sidekick!
Its insane what both of you can achieve in such a small amount of time!
0:49 Thank you - now I have to go and rewatch all of the ArhyBES Batmetal videos!
The split screen sponsor section was a fantastic idea. Watching Lucas paint, but still hearing about the sponsor.
That was really fun! Thanks for sharing that. Great, inspiring work as usual. I'm jealous... I wish I had my Squidmar Evolution 2024... waiting on H&S. Am enjoying my Squidmar Ultra 2024 in the meanwhile 🙂
Awesome job guys ! wow I don't know how I could get that quality so fast as you do. I think I need to start to do some airbrushing !

🔥🎸🔥
You both have a great eye and fantastic taste in colors. I also like watching the painting through the advertisement. Thanks for the video!
What's up with the not painted backs on a couple of the minis?
loved getting a look into commission painting and also seeing how amazing you guys can paint a variety of different models
How tf are those paint jobs that good in that short amount of time?!? 😂 crazy good job guys. Love the video and idea behind it
great paint work and love watching the fun you guys have
It blows my mind my mind how cool the Keeper of Secrets mini is and that you chose that specific time to put your sponsorship at that time. Is there a longer format video for how you painted this mini somewhere?
That little time and so good results. You two are really good :-)
Prefer the split screen ad. Smart idea.
Super impressed with Lukas' jobs. Maybe I'm just a fan for pale skin, shadows, and teals. If that's his 'quick' version it'd make an amazing army.
Great video. was good seeing younpaibt models and colour schemes chosen by others.
5:21 5sec more to put any kind off darker shadow in muscle lines would do a world off difference. especially between the toes so they don't look like they are melted together ;P
why fully assemble before painting? found it much easier to paint each part then assemble afterwards. especially with the new magnet setup, those are suuuper cool, it would be easy to softly scrape off the paint and attach the magnet for the "perfect" spot ^^
ahh this brought back reminiscent off old times :P
That Celennar piece is beautiful. Amazing work guys.
7:20 that gap on the shoulder pad thou...
🙏today i got my H&S Squidmar Evolution 2024 Black Edition....and its so beautifull, love it.
Your channel is the one that bring me back to painting minis so often, you both are realy valuable.
God bless you. Have a nice Christmas time
Awesome project and painting guys!
I love the way Lukas paint. Always.
Lucas is so outrageously talented
I always watch your videos while painting and watch you to study your mini painting
Thanks for a great video! Made be set up my paint station while i watched it, so i dont have ro do that after i but my kids to bed later thia evening. Gonna go straight to painting. Its been two weeks since last time.
I recently watched the first video Emil was on, the water effects one, man he sure has come into his own on camera over the years.
Guys, this is absolutely incredible. I'm just completely amazed how much you are able to do in such a short amount of time and how stunning it turns out to be. And that Avatar in 4 hours? Just wow. Really makes me sad my mini wasn't one of the picked ones for these comissions :).
Shaman lady ( 100E ) it's my fav by far . All minis are great 👍
Very nice, I noticed that you had what appears to be a process chart in the table, left to right, starting with base coat, what is that qnd where can one get it?
If I got you right you were referring to the painting mat which is RedGrass Painting Mat A2 or A3
You are the best Emil and Lukas. for christmas im getting some warhammer and star wars legion minis you have inspired me to paint more and more btw är från Sverige ❤😊
Fun to watch and makes me remember I've got things to paint.
Oh that was a smooth move putting the add next to the painting since i wanted to see how you did the keeper i couldn't skip the add. ergh... i mean i always watch the ads!!!!! always... anyway. big brain move.
Hi i was wondering which brand model your lighting with flexible arm is shown at 2:47. Thanks.
15:44 that menacing warboss IS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!
Unbelievable talent guys, really great quality!!
You guys do the best ads on UA-cam. You keep my attention.
Great work, hope it was fun. I am curious if there were sample images provided by some and if some requested to know what paints were used, if so was that a hassle or just part the "billed time"?
7:07 thats better than the once before it. like the colour scheme;
My biggest lessons from y'all. Push the contrast, and COLOR

Spoke too soon, apply to all the figs 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
How rude. Why would you commission someone, let alone a famous UA-camr, to paint your mini if you haven’t even bought it yet!? Very inconsiderate but unfortunately not surprising.
Beautiful paint jobs, love the troll!
would be cool if you could get someone to make some self portrait busts of both of you and have you both paint each others.
I miss you teaching painting. Love the videos but really miss those.
Dude, splitting the screening during your ad is a game changer.
How do you ship minis with those big wings and potentially breakable bits like Swords. How often do things break?
Airbrushing really is a cheat code for minis
Wish i knew this when it was open! Would have sent a few models!
2:12 find someone who looks at you like the way Lucas looks at sguidmare
I've only ever done one commision job and I did it really cheap because the guy having looked at my insta said he loved my style and that he would cherrish the models etc... about two months later he was selling the models on eBay at double the price I sold them to him at. "I am goona steal Sergio Calvo's paint job but do it in 4 hours instead" is an insane phrase to say. Really enjoyed this video, well done!
Not to the same level though 🤣
What's the song used starting @ 11:35? It's *so good* alongside those wicked paint schemes

I'm enjoying these videos so much that I want to paint miniatures now and I have never played a game
My Squidmar Ultra finally arrived this weekend. WOOT!
Anybody knows what metalics they are using? especially the gold?
