    One of the best scenes from the movie and one of the many iconic of Harrison Ford career

    Falfa's 55 Chevy is 1 of 3 in the movie. 1 for cruising scenes 1 for camera car and 1 stripped to reduce weight for racing scenes. This is the race car version, which was the same car used from 2 Lane Blacktop and the same car used for the Trans am sound effects in Smokey And The Bandit. 2 stunt men couldnt roll this car, so the crew put it upside down. Notice the trunk lid before and after fire. Open then closed. When camera pans to front when Milner is moving Falfa around back of car, look on left side of upside down car floor beside frame. Theirs a box wrench left there by a crew member. Cindy and Ron's love scene was improved, as they were dressed ready to go home, when producer got them to the site as their "twilight hour" was fading.

      Good post! I had a friend like him in the early 1980's in high school. He looked somewhat like Toad, but my friend was a lot taller. The cool thing, he was never a jerk, always in a good mood, and he was always up for anything on a Friday or Saturday night. For me, those were the good old days!

    The movie was shot in Petaluma, not Modesto, but all the references in the movie are about Lucas’ hometown of Modesto. Going to watch the re-release on Sunday at the State Theater in Modesto, a couple of blocks from 10th & 11th Streets, the cruise featured in the film.

    I've read every MAD Magazine since the mid 60s. They spoofed a lot of movies. But there were two movies they did not make fun of. This one and One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest.

      MAD Magazine actually did spoof "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". It was in a 1976 edition of the magazine.

    • @thomaslong8401
      @thomaslong8401 2 місяці тому

      @@feponcio I realize now that I wasn’t clear in my comment. Yes, MAD covered it but didn’t “spoof” those two. Meaning to me, did not make fun of, make light of, or otherwise ridicule the movie as they would with other movies, but rather accentuated what the movie was about. And I still have that MAD issue!

    After the roll over, there’s just enough of the movie shot, that shows, they don’t make cars like they used to! There doesn’t seem to be a dent in the fenders and the last time I rolled a car, there was grass and weeds sticking out everywhere. But on the 55, the tires looked ruff, but not bad, and one blade of weed lying on the bottom of the 55. Lol I can fix it!

      It was found in a junkyard ready to be crushed when it was rescued, fixed up to look like the one that did have the big block chevy in it, as the wheels were painted with aluminum paint to look like Chrome Reverse wheels. They weren't gonna waste the big block 55 chevy for this scene. Far as we all know, could have had a small block engine in it, however you get my point.

      By far. He had a great start and a great pullaway into momentum. Falfa might woulda caught up with him but honestly he had the straighaway open which he didn't have the first time. Stop light and the girl being in the car with him messed with his head. This time no distractions and way better job started sealed it for him. Taking the reck away it wouldn't have mattered, he still woulda won. Falfa was both too full of himself and too distracted with Howard's girl in the car, but John's car pulled through there too.

      I think Milner would have preferred to lose so he could be unburdened from the title of fastest car. Toad isn't buying it because he only sees Milner as a legend and not just a normal person. Most of the movie is about busting the nievete of American culture in the early 60s. John is the wisest character and he can see what is coming. He tells the graduates to stay away from the hop, etc.

    • @ronedee
      @ronedee 7 днів тому

      I believe the correct terminology is “opened the headers”. Aka…removing the mufflers. Taking the headers off, wouldn’t work very well. Actually it would be detrimental to the performance of the engine. Movies seldomly get it right. But most movie goers aren’t “greasers”! 😆
