    I think the extra $200 for expandable storage, free S-Pen, better performance, better built-in speakers, stronger exterior, better camera for document scanning, extra OS generation upgrade, fast charging, smoother refresh rate, and both Google Play and Galaxy Store is worth it.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Рік тому +2

      Yeah it's a ton of stuff for the extra $200. A lot of minor things that not everyone will need. So there is still a really good audience for the pixel tablet in my opinion. I don't need the SD card for example. I actually don't like the Galaxy store. The build quality isn't all that significant to me. At that point for me, the two big differences are the refresh rate and the software upgrade. The pen and speaker offset.
      In the end all of these reviews are very subjective. Each person is going to care about the pros of a certain device and they just have to decide how much those pros are worth and if they are willing to spend the extra money to get them. That's the main point of a comparison like this, really to help people find the right device for them. The fact that you were able to watch this and also able to make your own list maybe from knowledge you know, and decide if it's worth it for yourself, that's what I do it for.. in the end it's definitely a better tablet for $200 more. If it's worth it will always depend on the person. If money is no factor, I'd lean towards the S8 for most people. It's definitely a better device

      I never touched Samsung store, even with the S6 lite. I'll go with this and able to put graphene on it, just to get Samsung crap off the OS

      @@AndroidDigest I can't stand the Galaxy Store. My entire career was in software engineering. When I first wrote a mailer program in the OS/2 Presentation Manager (gui) a reviewer really liked the app but complained the graphics looked like some kid did it in crayon. Ouch...but the galaxy store apps strike me in a similar manner.

      If there was a wireless charging stand it would be cool. But the Galaxtly Tabs are a class above other android tablets.

    Just out of curiosity. Why is it so bad to just flip your tablet into portrait mode? I often prefer to hold my tablet in portrait mode, even if the apps will stretch to landscape. Usually I only use landscape to view video. Just wondering...

    I got a tab s8 plus 5g unlocked model refurbished off ebay with a 1 year warranty for $579, and I have not had any problems. The battery lasts a long time, and it does everything I need, so I really like it

    Google could release a keyboard case that uses the rear pins with both a pass through for the dock as well as another set of pins on the bottom that are connected to the rear pins inside the case.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Рік тому +1

      That's a really really good point. My brain didn't even think about the pins in the back. That was me being dumb. But yeah. They probably will use those

    The Pixel Tablet actually DOES have the setting to push all apps to full screen in landscape. I sent the Tab S8 back, and bought the Pixel Tablet. And I'm MUCH MORE satisfied with the Pixel Tablet, than I was with the Tab S. I have a Samsung phone, the S24 Ultra, but the tablet's, I like the Pixel much better.

    Cool vid! It addressed some of my concerns but allow me to frame this slightly differently. I recently entered the smartwatch realm with what i have come to call the cheap Chinese knockoff. Yes, it was noticeably less expensive than an Apple or Google (Pixel) watch.I soom decided i wanted a better "fit and finish ".i happened on a very intelligent review of Applewatch vs Pixelwatch. The reviewer said they were both high end smartwatches but, "if you are in the IOS camp you'll be happier with the Apple watch. Similarly if you are in the Android camp youll be happier with the Pixel watch, as both watches seamlessly interface with their respective software family. I am thrilled with the Pixelwatch, notwithstanding the less than stellar battery time. That reviewer nailed with with the stay within your software family. My Pixel 7 is on the latest Android rel. My 2l year old galaxy tab is not as, in a sense, its not running Android but Im guessing, Bixby. Its software Samsung layered on top of Android. So while the latest Android came out last Jan/Feb its yet to be on my tablet. My wife's Galaxy tablet, a generation prior, now has a bug that screws up transferring photos to FB. So, by this decision matrix, would the Google tablet offer a more seamless integration into the google family of products or ... not so much?

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Рік тому +1

      It's hard to say because both products are apart of Android. You can go in the Tab S8 and change some settings to make it more similar to the Pixel tablet. They have different Android skins, so they have different flavors of Android. Overall the Tab S8 is better, but the Pixel tablet comes with a speaker dock and some extra google features (exclusive to google devices). So it just depends on the person. Most people will probably prefer the Tab S8 though. But it's a tough call.

    Good, practical review. I currently have both tablets. I don't care about things like "premium feel," that have nothing to do with actual performance. I like how the Pixel Tablet feels, both with and without the backing stand. I don't care about bezels.
    I don't use the S8 stylus. I've never seen any review that did more than scribble loosely with a stylus, and some apps that support a stylus are frankly crap. So, a stylus is not necessarily an advantage.
    I agree that the Pixel speaker dock is pretty good. I have a cheap tablet cover for the S8 and that's fine.
    I am currently bouncing back and forth between both tablets. I use the S8 a bit more for work purposes. I use either when viewing videos. I love the SD card on the S8.

      Thanks! I agree with you. I'm personally enjoying the Pixel tablet. It's better than others give it credit for. The Tab S8 is still technically slightly better. But not for me personally. I try to review things in such a way that both sides of an argument can watch this and still get the tablet they want and need.

    I have an older Samsung, the tab s6, and it's really nice and still holds up specwise, but I much prefer the ipad these days. I was looking at the pixel tablet as it is pretty intriguing, but my feeling is that I'd just leave it on the side, rarely used, like I do with the tab s6 which is relegated to the kitchen diner for UA-cam while cooking and eating. The s8 is obviously better but not so much that the s6 feels outdated.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Рік тому

      I think you're pretty dead on honestly. Just getting a speaker dock probably won't be enough especially when the Tab S6 is already pretty nice

    Did Samsung Galaxy Tab S8's Keyboard Cover Has A Mouse Pad? 😊

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Рік тому +1

      Yes and no. The keyboard cover from the Tab S7 does have a trackpad. And it works with the Tab S7 because it has the same dimensions and nearly the same design. It's detachable while the slim keyboard cover is one piece. I covered them in a keyboard review earlier in the year and compared them, and I did talk briefly mentioning those things in this video too

    The pixel was on sale $550 and so whew $1250 for S9 and S8 is $1050 not a good deal better off for a full fledged laptop at that price level. Of the Samsung and still a low spec 13mp camera and also on all tablets except for the Chinese Xiaomi pad 6 pro at half the Samsung price and it sports a real cell phone camera with high megapixals .So why not such an expensive Samsung ?Where is its value ?It doesn't even have a headphone jack for gamers ?

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Рік тому

      It's different for someone like me in the US. Xiaomi isn't an option. So you are looking at Samsung, Google, or OnePlus. And Samsung does pretty well to compete.
