    Yes, regulator helps with cold and near-empty canisters, but it also enables simmering. Don't often carry a stove, but if one does, powdered eggs are a near perfect backpacking food, lightweight, compact, providing essential proteins that aren't easily found elsewhere in a hiker's diet. However, to properly cook eggs requires simmering capability. BRS simply won't cut it. A spread-out flame is useful too. Windmaster checks all the boxes.
    p.s. Four-flex is designed to spring-clamp around the stem of Windmaster, thus making it one-piece-ish for storage. Tip pot-stand 90° to clamp to stem.

    Great content, I really like your channel. I have both the Amicus and the Windmaster and they are both very good. I bought the Amicus without piezo because I'd had a piezo fail. The Windmaster is exceptional in windy conditions and incredibly quick and quiet. I use it with the Triflex pot support and at 67g it's hard to beat for the performance. It's the Thermarest Xtherm of stoves, slightly more than you need most of the time but when conditions are bad, nothing else comes close.

    This stove fits into the evernew solo titanium pot set with a small gas canister/stand and plenty of room to spare for other items. Fits in there so well there's no room for it to even rattle around no case necessary.

    Went from a Jetboil clone to the Windmaster at the start of the year...can squeeze it in my Toaks 750ml along with a 100g gas canister, lighter & scrubby. It’s literally a perfect stove in my humble opinion.

    SOTO Windmaster is an excellent stove. I have no regrets buying it and pot supports are not tricky to use at all. In fact they're one of the quickest and easiest pot supports to use on the market.

      @roberthammenrudh  Рік тому +1

      Thanks 🙏🏻 and we’ll, I haven’t tried the Crux but it seems to be a regular needle valve regulator and more comparable to Amicus so can’t see the Crux being better than the Windmaster…and it’s also heavier and without the igniter/piezo. But I would be glad to try one if I can get my hands on one 🙂

    • @mfinn4463
      @mfinn4463 Рік тому

      @@roberthammenrudh yes i think you're right. I have the Crux Lite 73g, the valve is a little 'springy', you have to dial further than needed as it springs back. But i like it and it does the job, if i were to buy again it would be the Windmaster.

    Love my Soto Windmaster. Used it for my PCT thru-hike, + some other short trips.
    Don't know if this is normal behaviour, but sometimes when I turn my stove off it continues to burn a little, and sometimes it doesn't. I would notice a fuel smell. Maybe it is the micro regulator, or a damaged o-ring? Anyway, I always unscrew the stove after I am done using it so as to not lose fuel.

    • @roberthammenrudh
      @roberthammenrudh  Рік тому +1

      I also always unscrew the stove from the canister and I had the same thing sometimes when using the Amicus…probably high pressure form the canister. 🤷🏼‍♂️

    Don't suppose anybody would know if a Windmaster would fit in an evernew eca521r 750ml pasta pot with a triflex support and a 100gram canister too please? As I have an amicus which is fine but would love to shave that weight a little bit and up that wind resistance as well. Ive checked the dim's and it seems close...
    Cheers

    • @VapourTrailz

      Answer this myself then - yes it does, but vertically, you can put it sideways but it deforms the thin metal of the pot preventing the lid to clip on correctly.

    Great review. The Windmaster is my favorite stove. I rarely use my BRS anymore. I have had a few of them. Not really impressed with it.
