The B7 Audi RS4 will always be remembered as a pivotal moment in the brand’s performance car history. Ditching the turbocharged setup that was a hallmark of previous fast Audis was a brave call, but one that undoubtedly paid off.
For under the bonnet of this sensible looking estate was, perhaps, one of the greatest engines ever made. A 4.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 developing 414bhp, it would take the fight to another N/A monsters from both BMW and Mercedes-Benz. But, would it be the ultimate RS?

I love my Avus Silver B7 RS4. I wouldn’t trade the car for anything. Yeah it’s pricy to maintain and can be quite temperamental when it gets in a bad mood but when all is well... there is nothing like it you will ever dive. NOTHING. I have Milltek downpipes and full exhaust and that takes the car to an even more amazing level. The only car I’ve ever driven that is similar is it’s German cousin the E92 M3 and I’ll still take the RS4 any day. I hope everyone who wants one gets to drive one someday. You will fall in love and the car will steal your heart just like it did mine.
Everything Dave said. I'll see if my pockets are deep enough for Milltek one day. Not quite sure why the car in the review sounds like a tractor though.
Facts bro I love mine as well there is nothing like it. Putting it in S mode and throwing it in a off ramp corner at 80mph as it hugs the road

Well put. Just picked up one of these in sedan form a month ago and absolutely love it. It’s such a special car with a ton of character.
I love the B7 RS4. It looks so right, chunky yet subtle unlike the laser cars which are becoming very in your face. The engine is fabulous and makes an amazing noise despite rarely making anywhere near the claimed power. I’ve driven one and loved it, especially the wing back seats.
I’d happily have one today.
If they are maintained well they are normally not far off the quoted even ones with 100k miles seem to still be making circa 400ps on dynos which is more than most people need especially for an estate car.
Very, very good video, these Audi's also had fabulous build quality and I think the internal and external design has aged extremely well and even better no touch screens or controller! Is a C63 Estate be quicker?

Great video! I own a 2006 Audi RS4 B7, I purchased it a few months ago in Australia and I'm so confused as to why the price is so low compared to cars with similar performance when I bought it I was waiting and expecting to find something horribly wrong with it or to find the car underwhelming but instead I found it beating my expectations and accidentally realized I also bought a fantastic daily driver that's not too bad on fuel compared to my old car and is just nicer to drive when I'm not pedal to the metal. Great review!

Love these. Weird thing is though, mk3 S3 2.0 beats in 1/4 mile and can give high 30s mpg at cruise.
Still rather have the B7 RS4 tucked in the garage though, waiting for B road blasts to empty its tank of super in 20mins!
I absolutely adore mine. The only thing I might trade it for is a B8.5 rs5 with that insane cfsa engine. It's almost impossible to choose between them.

I find the most impressive element is the braking performance, with good tyres they out brake anything else I have driven including my 911.

Chapmans Peak in the RS4 cabriolet gets no better oh happy days please return.
Only certain panels are aluminium the main platform is steel. In terms of weight my V5 states 1767 kg not that I have checked it myself of course.
lol what, you guys in Europe get an Avant AND ceramic brakes? Not to mention that better steering wheel and seats.
they are all extras but yes we could get all that over here

The RS4 engine is a different engine they are both V8s but that is about all.
B8 RS4 is much better for the small UK roads, but overall best ever RS model is the C7 RS6 this will be the all time great...or is already....
There's nothing wrong with the B7 on UK roads... it gets along just fine.

Sorry can’t agree, best RS model has to be the original C5 RS6 V8 biturbo instant power and keeps going all the way up the Speedo , best car I have ever owned .

B8 rs4 let down with gearbox issues
This motor is nothing like an S4. There are practically no parts that are shared between them.
Yeah I'd only ever compare the BSN motor for the RS4-B7 as same as first gen R8 engine only minus dry sump etc
I have a 4.2 s4 avant 2004. It gives me a chubby

I am too have the B6 S4 Avant, with the 4.2L V8 + 6spd. It is glorious! I cannot imagine what the RS4 is like because the S4 already feels like the perfect daily driver to me. One day, I will step up to the RS4, but until then, it’s sunny days 😎 😎

Not 2005 as oer this video.....produced from 2004....last ones in 2007. Then a few years later......RS4 B8 from 2012 - 2015, RS5 4.2V8 from 2010 to 2015 😼😎
Wrong, got a Misano Red 08 to prove it, one of near last off production line with all options! Only 10k were built world wide 05-08... 2.5k a year from the race factory... RS Audi's never see the inside of the Audi car factory all built in the Race factory just silly bit of info...👍😎
