Definitely agree. All of the germans used to take the wolf in sheeps clothing approach. Here's why they don't. The big three Germans all brought out their hot versions and in some cases you'd have look twice to recognise it. A lot of people wanted, but can't afford to buy and/or run it. Rs4 is a great car! I have mine for 2 years and I love it.You can’t compare E92 M3 with RS4, B7 platform is small and the V8 engine is huge so the engine is as front as possible to have the AWD front diff . So sorry I can only add one "like" - I love Audis and feel that waaaay too often they are dealt a bad hand by the motoring press. It's gratifying to see someone who actually can appreciate the "real world" value of Audi's S4 formulation. (I own a 2017 S4 and it's magnificent!) JayEmm, you've moved to very near the top of my Christmas list ;-)

A fantastic review of a truly fantastic car! These crazy rapid RS Audi's are the only sensible option for British roads. Road testers would always put the BMW ahead on feel, fun and track performance. But as you so rightly said, we don't live on a racetrack, we live and drive on roads that are the majority of the time either soaking wet or damp (good old British weather haha!) In a AWD beast like this you would still be making very rapid progress while the M3/4 or AMG would be sliding all over the place a long way behind in your rear view mirror!
Still my favourite RS4... n that's a beautiful example.. I had a b7 A4 n still think it was one of the best cars I've had... now moved on to an A6... but will always miss my faithful A4
deff bro good call !! b7 rs4 is just so special 😍 could of got almost anything but choose my murdered out all black baby it's such a joy to drive and such a special car esp here in canada maby 50 here it's a crowd pleaser that foe sure :-)
I love the B5 S4 and the B7s as well. First thing people complain about is steering. Sure if you don’t know how to load the front axle before a highspeed turn, you’ll push through, but I love the handling characteristics on the street.
I love this car... It was my favorite car in the original Test Drive Unlimited pc game from 2006... I absolutely adore it's looks especially in that gorgeous colour! Performance Audis should preferably be ordered in blue! I also adore the classic interior... Though I wouldn't wanna go through the hassle of owning one as they're quite expensive to maintain...
Rs4 is good car, in fact very good. It just shows what a great cars vere made at those times just before global economic crisis. Of course, e92 m3 is king on the top! C63 is also notable beast.
Lexus ISF is also severely underrated. By the time it went out of production the ISF was the best of the bunch. Able to match the M3 around a track, but with by far the best build quality and reliability record. You can buy an old one with total confidence in its reliability. The same cannot be said of any of the others.
@@MD-uu5nt true ISF is not worse than M3 actually it have better engine. But web is full of vmw fanboys and for them even wors bmw is better than the best car in the world.
The RS4 slays both E46 and E90 M3 as a street car. I have owned RS4 and E90 and it’s no comparison. Audi wins in: -power band. RS4 actually has mid range torque. M3 has none. -Gear box. RS4 is one of the best ever. M3 is notchy and really bad. -Steering. No comparison. M3 steering is numb. -Brakes. RS4 has Gallardo brakes. M3 brakes suck. -Styling. RS4 is classy and muscular. M3 is boy racer with hood buldge, fake vents. -Exhaust. RS4 sounds unreal. M3 sounds great if you really wind it out. -Suspension, Audi RS4 delivers perfect ride/handling compromise. M3 ride too harsh on 19s.
good man 10000000% correct esp You owning both 👏 b7 rs4 is so god dam special 🙌! Love mine to death will never sell already offered 10000 more then I payed first week I owned it living in Canada only a handful here !!! G J bro love Your comment
I still own RS4 and probably will keep it for a very long time! its not fast car, lets be honest but it has a character. My RS4 has 152k miles, had m3 e46 as well, i go with RS4 anyday, awd+4 door. + the sound is amazing with aftermarket exhaust, cant beat that DTM sound.- This car is aging well!
S4/RS4 is what I have always wanted, too many kids and too much mileage for work mean I can’t have one as a daily. Once a 3rd car is on the cards it will be one of these. Thanks for featuring this one (again). 👌 ps Can’t wait for the vid with the owner, I’ll be very interested in what the ownership experience has been like.
This is going to be my next car, I'm very fussy when it comes to my selection. I recently sold my 1M Coupe, house forced the sale, but now I'm after my next motor..so far this RS4 is coming out tops.. Great review thanks 👍
This b7 and e90 m3 were the best of their generation. Now both super rare not many on the roads and very modern yet classic and the interior in both is still brand new.
Excellent review as always. An Imola Yellow Avant has just cropped up in NZ which looks mint and owned by the same same family since new. It'll be the perfect compliment to my W212 M156 E63 AMG. Seriously tempted as a manual box is something I've missed since leaving Blighty.
B7 RS4s are great for when you want to drive up to 7 or 8 tenths on public roads in comfort and with added practicality if you get the Avant model. E9x generation M3s are more capable on the track with the superior weight distribution and lighter weight. Both may have 4 doors and have a V8 revving over 8000rpm, but they appeal to slightly different audiences and/or intended for slightly different purposes. Both are great cars in their own right. Highly recommend the Eventuri Carbon plenum for the E9x M3 for even more intensive E46 CSL-style induction noise, giving that intensive DTM vibe that those high revving V8s are reminiscing.
i'm not impressed with carbon fiber interior bits. it feels and sounds just like hard plastic. i don't get it. give me polished stainless or aluminum or leather.
Each to their own. I have a b5 s4 with real carbon with a blue strand through it from factory. Goes nice with the blue alcantera inserts in the seats. Never liked the v8 rs4 wing back seat bolsters are to high. And the v8 is to slow.
Had an Audi S4 in Sprint Blue, just like that RS4. Was pricey to keep on the road, but really enjoyable to own and drive. Just sold it last yr after 10 yrs of ownership, replacing it with a 2018 911.
I had one of these in 2009 for 2.5yrs. They sound so good and the build quality was fabulous but it did suffer with the DRC (suspension issues) and I had to folk out almost £1200 for front brakes and discs (they eat discs every other set of pads). I do miss it but I eventually wanted something that handled better so I went for a new 2012 M3 Comp Pack. Wasn’t as nice inside but I did smile a lot more whilst driving it. If I’d had kept the RS long term I would have looked into aftermarket suspension and discs but life is short and there’s too many nice cars to have. They still look very nice and have aged well in my opinion. Have since had a new M4 (not great) 2010 997.2 GT3 (amazing) and now a 2019 C4 GTS (nice compromise).
I worry im being blind, where is the comparison video with the c5 rs6?! Also, thank you for keeping up the awareness and appriciation for really well made cars of yesteryear. I work at the main dealer and honestly, it's you speak the truth when you say "they're not made like they use to." Fancy lights, sounds and buttons are nice but I'd rather have a B7RS4 than a newer of any age.
An Audi S4 B5 with a VR6 turbo swap along with an Audi R8 4.2 turbo Manual would be the dream team for me the RS4 B7 Avant and the new Audi RS7 C8 are great and practical
My buddie had a yellow b7. He loved it but someone made him a good offer as these are rare here in the states. Plus his had ALL the options. We referred to it as the Richman's Evo LOL
@Spencer Han It's all blacked out rims windows murdered out Black my bro love it lots :-) also have very rare acura Tl aspec Manuel in 20 inch vossens lovly car as well :-) will do some videos this year on UA-cam pics of both are on my main page screen :-)
I’d still have a vxr8, it’s the king of super saloons. 6.2 v8, and a proper v8 soundtrack. Beautiful car. And an original 2007 6.0 is still worth £15000. Not bad for a 13 year old car that was £35000 new.👌
Love this car. As a BMW owner many times over, if I were to buy a V-8 German sports sedan, this would be high on the list. The sound is unparalleled. The greatest complaint would be the handling; this car is just too weighty and nose heavy. A few laps into a DE class on track and you're ready to pit to cool off the front parts, or trade it in on something more track happy (like any 3 series). Of course it chews through front dampers - and brake pads/rotors, which you did not mention - with all that weight up there. Seriously who puts a massive engine like that ahead of the front axles?! But this is still quite a special model. One can easily overlook its shortcomings.
Well the E92 had poor brakes they wouldn't last long on track the RS4 was good on the Nurburgring back in the day. A tight track wouldn't be good though..M3 had flat seats poor interior didn't feel special. The M1 was probably better.I dare say the Quatro Sports engine was in the wrong place it won a few rallies.
@@daveshaw2200 I have an e92 335is and done several track days. I have yet to fatigue the brakes, although I did buy performance pads just in case. However, I still do not like the brake pedal feel in the car. I am waiting for a set of M3 take offs to show up in the market, so I share your concern about e92 brakes even though I have not experienced it.
It’s because of the transaxle, it’s not possible to have the engine further back - despite what yr saying it’s still one of the best v8 performance cars imo and rare
If I can get my feet back on the ground this year, this is my next car 😂😏🏴. Need the wagon though. Absolutely love the rs4/6 avant range. Dont have the lifestyle for a s8 tbh. Never been a fan of bmw but mercedes really know what they are doing. I'll take 4wd over rwd for daily. Love the vids 🏴💙
You didn't really explain WHY you would take it over an M3. That's what I'm intrigued to know. I'd personally take an E92 but I still love this car for what it is.
Any real petrolhead who has some interest in track or aggresive driving will take bmw anytime. Mostly all audi lovers and die hard fans are amateur car enthusiasts. If someone starts with the question how fast your car goes from 0 to 60, so you know its the type 2. If you want to good cornering car what it really matters is rwd, weight of the car, suspension setup, brakes, weight distribution, alignment, tires and then only all other factors like engine power and etc, which in real world should not bower anyone with their first steps in the car world, because one will not be able to unleash full potentional of Audi rs4 or E92 m3 engine power. This rs4 is good road car, but it does not deliver in all other aspects to make it fast car in the corners like bmw does.
@@skrypka Very well said. And that goes to most modern performance cars nowadays (Golf R, Audi S3 etc, etc ) Very uninspiring, not really driver focused and easy to go fast with minimal driver effort. The E9X is one car I'll always look up to and love to take a spin in. People nowadays only really seem to just care about 0-60 times but forget everything else. My VXR being FWD doesn't have the best of 0-60 times compared to other vehicles out there today, but for the most part it's still way more engaging and fun to drive around the track and back roads. A proper petrolhead experience that is a key factor in vehicles that is dying out. Thank god we got the M2 Comp.

It's gratifying to see someone who actually can appreciate the "real world" value of Audi's S4 formulation. (I own a 2017 S4 and it's magnificent!) JayEmm, you've moved to very near the top of my Christmas list ;-)
audis rule period fack everyone who disses them I've owned 2 2002 twin turbo stage 3 500 hp put it away for summer car then that winter got an 06 4.2 litre was sad put 2002 away lol 😆 loved them loooooots but b7 rs4 is a diff beast omg it simply the bomb
Anyone who compares a B7 handling to an E92 clearly hasn’t been backwards on a roundabout!
lol deff rs4 stuck to road like glue rwd bmw merc sideways in rain by by rs4
A fantastic review of a truly fantastic car! These crazy rapid RS Audi's are the only sensible option for British roads. Road testers would always put the BMW ahead on feel, fun and track performance. But as you so rightly said, we don't live on a racetrack, we live and drive on roads that are the majority of the time either soaking wet or damp (good old British weather haha!) In a AWD beast like this you would still be making very rapid progress while the M3/4 or AMG would be sliding all over the place a long way behind in your rear view mirror!
rsr b7 just rules :-) can't wait to take her out of storage omg
@@lancegallant3647 I envy you, these are superb cars unbeatable on most roads in most (poor) UK weather's. An all weather true super saloon.
@Dave Kennedy ahhh thanks Dave such a capable whip in all conditions bro!! 👍 I'll only drive it summer days and for fun a few rainy days only :-)
Still my favourite RS4... n that's a beautiful example.. I had a b7 A4 n still think it was one of the best cars I've had... now moved on to an A6... but will always miss my faithful A4
The proportions are just perfect, looks aggressive and subtle at the same time.
I have a B7 RS4 and love it to bits, after having a few similar ///M and AMG car I still feel the RS4 is my favourite.
deff bro good call !! b7 rs4 is just so special 😍 could of got almost anything but choose my murdered out all black baby it's such a joy to drive and such a special car esp here in canada maby 50 here it's a crowd pleaser that foe sure :-)
I love the B5 S4 and the B7s as well. First thing people complain about is steering. Sure if you don’t know how to load the front axle before a highspeed turn, you’ll push through, but I love the handling characteristics on the street.
Got the 2.0T quattro A4 version as a daily beater. Always wondered what the same body could do with that V8. Dream car for sure
Seen this car come into my place of work a few times, the owner takes good care of it
I love this car...
M3 would be better if it wouldhad quattro. But RS4 for me any day.
Audi wins in:
-power band.
M3 ride too harsh on 19s.
well said...
good man 10000000% correct esp You owning both 👏 b7 rs4 is so god dam special 🙌! Love mine to death will never sell already offered 10000 more then I payed first week I owned it living in Canada only a handful here !!! G J bro love Your comment
This was the car to have back in the late 00’s bar none.
Brought mine new in 2007 still got it, covered 50,000 miles now....
Sell it to me lol
rs4 for life bro we are a small group
Sold it now. Not sure it was correct thing to do but needed room for RS6.
Got a real soft spot for these RS4's. Sound incredible too!
they rule prriod
I had a RS4 cabriolet and I miss it everyday
..an SD card with an interesting collection of 1990's dance music. That's exactly what I have in my Audi.
RS4 B7 Avant it's my favourite car mate. Cheers.
fully agree best most capable audi ever so pumped I just bought one Iam in heaven omg love her so much ❤
A true great amongst cars, I have been hooked on various RS models ever since.
This is going to be my next car, I'm very fussy when it comes to my selection.
I recently sold my 1M Coupe, house forced the sale, but now I'm after my next motor..so far this RS4 is coming out tops.. Great review thanks 👍
Did U get an rs4 they rule
The best sounding Audi there's been apart from the v10 r8 for me, stick a custom sports exhaust on it and it sounds the bomb
This b7 and e90 m3 were the best of their generation. Now both super rare not many on the roads and very modern yet classic and the interior in both is still brand new.
Audi sure knows how to do the color blue👍👍
In my opinion the best audi line was B6. amazingly simple but gorgeously modern !
Excellent review as always. An Imola Yellow Avant has just cropped up in NZ which looks mint and owned by the same same family since new. It'll be the perfect compliment to my W212 M156 E63 AMG. Seriously tempted as a manual box is something I've missed since leaving Blighty.
One of if not my favourite car of all time love it👌
Absolutely bro 100% ❤ my rs4
Darren certainly does look after his cars,.
I can very much vouch for how well this car go's and handles having followed it many times in my 1M.
I had a rs4 B8. And I miss it every day
i'm not impressed with carbon fiber interior bits. it feels and sounds just like hard plastic. i don't get it. give me polished stainless or aluminum or leather.
I'm with you. Never understood that.
Its ligth so gives off that racecar vibe etc
@@gergelyturcsanyi6743 thank you. i was beginning to think, not for the first time, that i was the only one.
Each to their own. I have a b5 s4 with real carbon with a blue strand through it from factory. Goes nice with the blue alcantera inserts in the seats. Never liked the v8 rs4 wing back seat bolsters are to high. And the v8 is to slow.
Or, best of all, wood.
I like them but i loved the older 2.7 twin turbo version.
audi is in a class by itself.
agreed they are the bomb owned 2 s4 now b7 rs4 audi for life loooooooove this car
My dad had one of these years ago, mint car miss it a lot !
The car is a stunner. Spotted one in the exact same spec about a week ago
What a car... Ultimate sleeper cruiser when you have one in black.
Probably the last good looking Audi...😍 Amazing engine. A car to cross a continent
More like first good looking Audi vouse i know tons of good looking Audis after this.
What? Audi still make brilliant looking cars to this day.
best car man seriously 😍 love mine bro omfg
My last OEM rotors were backordered for 6 months. I gave up and got after-market.
Wish Audi did more RS models in saloon they look so much better!
Still my favourite RS model
My favorite car channel
An Audi S4 B5 with a VR6 turbo swap along with an Audi R8 4.2 turbo Manual would be the dream team for me the RS4 B7 Avant and the new Audi RS7 C8 are great and practical
I love how aggressive it is looks and performance
My buddie had a yellow b7. He loved it but someone made him a good offer as these are rare here in the states. Plus his had ALL the options. We referred to it as the Richman's Evo LOL
lol deff hehehe rs4 b7 for life was offered 10000 more first week back in New Brunswick Canada the only one here
@@lancegallant3647 wow. What color is that one?
@Spencer Han It's all blacked out rims windows murdered out Black my bro love it lots :-) also have very rare acura Tl aspec Manuel in 20 inch vossens lovly car as well :-) will do some videos this year on UA-cam pics of both are on my main page screen :-)
@@lancegallant3647 Badass.
Perfectly timed video - I'm currently shopping for an E92 but also have saved classified searches/alerts for a B7...😬
Enjoy the hunt! 😎
I do agree with you 100%
Audi.. always.
never BMW or MB
I think that should read 1M:)
They are amazing cars, best time to buy at the moment rock bottom prices, you can pick them up from 10k in uk
That's ridiculous haha, would have bought one straight away
deff bro ! they will go up
I'm firmly in the E46 M3 camp. For me the M3 46 or 92 is the much superior car but I do love a b7 in red with some pipes
I love the B7 RS4 great car
This is the car thta made a me a car enthusiast
Best audi ever. Newer models need to fix up
Gotta love the Sprint Blue B7 RS4 ..👍
100% my favourite also, wish i never sold mine. making me want to buy another 1
You didn't really explain WHY you would take it over an M3.
@@skrypka 👏👏👏 couldn't say it better mate bhp specs are for ten year olds
@@ARDEN440i Absolutely agree. It's a shame that there are very few new cars out there today with the potential to be great cars for proper drivers.
Both are amazing cars ,what's not too like V8 screamers M3 and RS4 both have so much to offer I'm a M3 fan especially E46,s , its the V8 sountrack ( intoxicating ) petrol head tunes !
Love these, new front and rear look with the V8.
I’ve wanted a rs4 b7 since they came out,id love to test drive one just to see if it’s everything I imagined
oh I promoss u its everything plus that u imagine!!! rented ferr lambos vipers vetts and my rs4 is waaaaaay more enjoyable to drive then all them beasts ! it's just so much such a drivers car checks all boxes sound handling speed looks quality ect not just a box or 2 ! Hope this helps u and iam a driver !!!!
you can t deny that BMW steering feeling are much better in general than Audi s one, that said this RS4 has a much better engine sound then the straight 6 BM , but it s still only a sedan..i ll take an E92 M3 anytime just for the bonnet ! lol
How have I not watched this one? 👍💙🏆
