You also need to address what is wrong with Morocco, which is a LOT. The inequality, unemployment, corruption, poor educational system, poor healthcare, moral degradation and the list goes on. You sir still have the option of leaving whenever you need to or whenever shit hits the fan, we don't. I'm sick of having to bribe to get a piece of paper done, sick of having to bribe the security guard of a hospital or a nurse to get a bed if I'm ill, sick of seeing injustice and corruption everywhere I go. I love this country, but can't stand it the way it is right now, so I'm one of those seeking to leave it, one of those who cannot wait for it to change.

I really appreciate your articulation on describing the new Moroccan generation. The "netflex generation... Now people don't protest for change, they act as if they already have it." A lot can be deceiving as there is a fassage of the new generation acting and appearing a certain way without really acknowledging they are in the discovery stages. It can be magical in certain ways, certainly an interesting area to witness from a foreign perspective.
Thank you for your comment. I am glad you highlighted that comment. It's one I think that really sums up the Gen Z and Gen Alpha. I find it disappointing that so few young Moroccans are aware of the Arab Spring. Those protests brought the freedoms and allowed the modern approach to social change that they experience today.
hey! exactly same attitude in Ukraine. funny fact is, many migrants miss their respective countries whilst abroad, and that's when they begin to see & appreciate their homeland's beauty
The same thing happens with Moroccan migrants, they miss their culture and how people are close to each other, not like westerners who tend to be more alone.
Your are very welcome in Morocco brother. I think us the Moroccans criticize our country more than others simply because we want to see Morocco one of the best countries in the world.
Political activist Noam Chomsky has suggested that the month-long protest encampment at Gdeim Izik (Western Sahara) constituted the start of the Arab Spring, while most sources consider the self-immolation of Mohamed Bouazizi in Tunisia on 17 December 2010 to be the actual start
I love Morocco. I have visited 8 times. I think there's more of a sense of community there. Yes there is grinding poverty, but people help each other out more I feel than in the UK generally. I am considering retiring to Morocco because I love it and the quality of life and cost of living is so much better than the UK. Food has taste! It's all fresh. Beautiful country and people.
Well, I am among those who left the country almost 10 years ago, and yes, it did change to the point, I release that the place where I grew up is no more, and I became as alien as a foreigner will be. I wish that wave of change to continue toward the good direction.

they want to leave because they want to live in a degenerate way as possible without getting judged and shamed by society and their family. i mean it i am a moroccan and i live here. mostly their reason is materialistic aka the dream of striking it rich , which again is unecessary as cost of living here is is insanely cheap but they watch hollywood movies and they want to replicate the lavish lifestyles that they fanticize about. without knowing that the west has a severe economic crisis and without knowing the local language all they will do is fall in a life of crime. and they also want to chase western women or men because they are mostly more " open " . or as i like to say it , they lack modesty and self respect. it is mostly young moroccan men and women that dream too much and are immoral enough to feel like they are being suppressed because they cant chase their carnal desires in peace without repercussions. this is the fault of moroccans that do live abroad coming to morocco and showing off meanwhile they are barely getting by in the west and are just chasing clout for the locals in morocco or to decieve moroccan girls with promises just to have fun and disappear on them. also moroccan women that want to get married to western men mostly because it means that they can wear the pants and decide how to live without any self control

I was one of the Moroccan who looked up to the west in the early 80's for freedom and equality and opportunities.. went to the UK, confronted by discrimination and racism. although I was a university educated, it did not mean anything at the time.. went to catering and hospitality that took an average of 16 working hours a day , 7days a week.. I was successful and I made money, but sadly no life and even the freedom I was seeking I did not have a time to find , because I needed to work to pay bills and have a house .. after 35 years I returned home , and when I look at how much freedom our youth have, I wished that we had the same in the early 80's so I did not have to leave.
The youth now have a bit more freedom, but no way to earn money to feed one's self and family, no opportunity no hope, one of the highest rates of depression in all the world, more than countries with ravaging wars, thousands every day gamble with their life for a shot to live in dignity by crossing the sea, no time in Moroccan history (except maybe the famines of the 200years ago, where ppl went to Portugal ) have we see so many Moroccans eager to leave their homeland. the 80s was a time of maybe dictatorship but also for opportunities, you could become one of the richest ppl in the country starting from almost nothing. +30 years old's still living with their parents, no source of income, thinking about killing themselves everyday, this is the sad reality of many Moroccans, so yeah trust me, you wouldn't want to be born in this generation.
@@Yanzdorloph I am not saying that morocco is perfect now.. and I think you are a little exaggerating.. the Moroccan youth now , as the video says, live a virtual life and think that the grass is greener on the other side.. but one thing for sure is morocco have now more opportunities than the 80s. I went to prison and beaten by the police when I was student for demonstrating .. it is hard everywhere in the world, but I come to realise that morocco have more to offer to its youth than many other countries on the same economical platform.. our youth want an office job with a secretary and a company car. sadly it is the truth.. poverty is everywhere and I visited more than 20 countries.

It is indeed an exciting thing that you are on about. Best of luck sir. looking forward to more content. suggestion for a video: How do you see the overall layout of Moroccan cities, Architecture-wise? Aesthetically speaking, are you pleased with how the facades of modern Moroccan houses look like? Don't you think that beauty is lacking in many neighborhoods? The lack of a clear and well-enforced city planning strategy in most Moroccan cities leads to the development of messy, unplanned, and favela-like neighborhoods. sometimes next to very well planned, aesthetically pleasing, and well-maintained neighborhoods. This contrast ruins the overall impression of an entire place, exposes many problems, and spoils the living experience of everyday people on both sides. I live up north in a small town that is basically a favela city. As I understand briberies lead to that problem. Instead of going on official legal channels and following legal procedures of purchasing a plot of land and getting a permit to build a house. City officials took briberies from people and allowed the illegal building of houses over the original plans of the city. Thus, what we ended up with is no open spaces, parks, and a hell of a lot of crammed buildings with no unified architectural identity. currently, you can see what the whole place would have looked like if not for greed in new governmental buildings, housing projects, hospitals, and schools that, to say the least, are nice to look at. To sum up, I guess what I am really asking is, can you compare and contrast between the English model of city planning and the Moroccan one?. or whatever. IDK. I just think that beautiful architecture is important in people's lives. I mean, to tie this up to the question people ask you >WHY YOU CAME TO MOROCCO TO LIVE?
Great inspiration for a video. It's certainly given me some ideas. Have you seen the video I made about Ain Atiq and the video about Rich and Poor Rabat? Both of those videos talk about the modernisation of Morocco's physical structure.

I arrived here in 2014, so I have been here 8 years now (2022) I am based in Rabat. I live close to the ocean in a flat that allows me to convert one large room into a video/editing studio. I think there is a Moroccan city for everyone; mine is Rabat. Most of my friends are Moroccan. They are good English speakers and have quite modern attitudes to life. As an atheist, I find very religious people (of any belief) have a too different mindset to mine for me to be able to form close friendships with them. Having said that, I have never had a problem being an atheist here. You might be interested in my video "An Atheist In An Islamic Country" ua-cam.com/video/1Y21w5U6FlU/v-deo.html Yeah, I go back to the UK to see family and friends, but I really enjoy the Moroccan weather and my ocean view to stay too long in the UK. This is exciting indeed. We support u Gary, thanks for posting such interesting and original content on youtube.take care😀
I really agree with us, from a moroccan, morocco is starting to change. Slowly but surely.
Thank you brother
I like your subject I hope you will reach 100 k you deserved continue brother
hey! exactly same attitude in Ukraine. funny fact is, many migrants miss their respective countries whilst abroad, and that's when they begin to see & appreciate their homeland's beauty
The same thing happens with Moroccan migrants, they miss their culture and how people are close to each other, not like westerners who tend to be more alone.
When you talk about Morocco, you teach the history and the Menhood, I realy love your video, Morocco is my country.😍😍😍😍
Interesting perspective coming from first hand experience rather than the media .. bravo
Your are very welcome in Morocco brother. I think us the Moroccans criticize our country more than others simply because we want to see Morocco one of the best countries in the world.
Stop racism
@@jasonmitchell6534 racism?? I think you got the wrong country 🤣
The conclusion of the video made me one of your subscribers, sir!
We appreciate your videos Gary
Well, I am among those who left the country almost 10 years ago, and yes, it did change to the point, I release that the place where I grew up is no more, and I became as alien as a foreigner will be.
I wish that wave of change to continue toward the good direction.
Great summary , enjoy the fresh food in Morocco Wish you All the best...
We still have a lots to work on ...
Welcome to Morocco our friends
thanks for your words !
It's an honor sir, i hope we could set up a meeting to discuss traditions ♥️
Thank you Sir Sullivan for your free choice to stay and live in the Capital of Morocco, Rabat. This city is now being metamorphosed. You and I are living these changes in Rabat which its slogan is " Rabat, the City of Lights, the Capital of Culture of Morocco. You will be surprised , soon, by the achievement of various and important infrastructures. May I suggest to you, to write and edit a book on this topics in a couple of a year.I did have some pictures or photos that might illustrate some sections or chapters you would write in the future.I am at your disposal.Best regards.
I'm excited by Moroccan infrastructure development too.
they want to leave because they want to live in a degenerate way as possible without getting judged and shamed by society and their family. i mean it i am a moroccan and i live here. mostly their reason is materialistic aka the dream of striking it rich , which again is unecessary as cost of living here is is insanely cheap but they watch hollywood movies and they want to replicate the lavish lifestyles that they fanticize about. without knowing that the west has a severe economic crisis and without knowing the local language all they will do is fall in a life of crime. and they also want to chase western women or men because they are mostly more " open " . or as i like to say it , they lack modesty and self respect. it is mostly young moroccan men and women that dream too much and are immoral enough to feel like they are being suppressed because they cant chase their carnal desires in peace without repercussions. this is the fault of moroccans that do live abroad coming to morocco and showing off meanwhile they are barely getting by in the west and are just chasing clout for the locals in morocco or to decieve moroccan girls with promises just to have fun and disappear on them. also moroccan women that want to get married to western men mostly because it means that they can wear the pants and decide how to live without any self control
Beautiful video i really like the way u look to moroccans

Good job Gari
I was waiting for this video. Well done
@@Yanzdorloph PS a lots of Italians still live with family after their 30's because they can't afford to rent or by their own place
@@rashidhackney2431 Morocco isnt city bois doing skateboard, if you think this s Morocco, you're living in delusion bro, Morocco is a dark place, you just need to go out of the rich guys area... you guys from the 80s who had it easy finding jobs, now look down on the youth of today, and blame them for not finding jobs, with excuses like "our youth want an office job with a secretary and a company car." that's disgustedly despicable, no our youth just want a job that can make them put food on the table, pay rent, and have a family. and you shame them for that ? you who went to work in the UK of all ppl ? how ironic.
@@rashidhackney2431 you're seriously comparing Morocco with Italy ? lol realy bro ? let me rectify, they are staying in their parents houses to save up money for buying a house later on, or stuff like that in Italy, in Morocco, lots of ppl don't have a choice, they are forced to leech of their parents, siting there helpless seeing their life going infront of their eyes without doing anything, thats why the depressing rates are high af in Morocco, this why ppl try to to Europe, not greed, just hope. shame realy, when the old generation tries to belittle the new one and their misery, instead of helping them, shame really.
Thanks for your advice.I am planning to open an educational centre in Casablanca
You are welcome with open arms , Morocco is your second 🏠
I am a 60 year old brit who would love to emigrate to Morocco. I am of modest means and I have no relatives or friends in Morocco, but still .... I would be happy with a very simple life therein. I love all relgions, and I love people of all backgrounds, whether they be religious or secular. Could my hearts dream become a reality, or does the Moroccan government immigration regulations make it near impossible for someone like me to move there permanently?
If you have your own money or can run a business online then you should be ok. You will just have to prove you can afford yourself. It becomes increasingly difficult to get things like insurance, etc as you get older.

i am an moroccan expat in europe, thinking of relocating, how is the internet stability in "downunder" morocco?
You've picked the wrong time to ask. I am pissed off with Maroc Telecom - but everyone is. It's the national sport, here.
Actually, the Internet isn't too bad. Almost all cafes have wi-fi and you can sit nursing one coffee for hours.
It's about 25 euros a month for a reasonable in-home service. I watch YT a lot and there is no buffering. Uploading videos is a bit time consuming, but I do it overnight, so don't really feel its a problem.

You are welcome mister gari 👍👍👍👍
I'm a Moroccan living abroad and I respect your point of view. The only thing that you wont see is how the Moroccans living inside the country not getting the right and the respect you getting or you will get when it comes to the system!!!!

Hi there, I am a British citizen looking to gain residency in Morocco. By any chance does anyone who has been through the process know of the documents required? I would greatly appreciate any information. Have a blessed day!
hello how are u doing, i have got one question, do u teach english online....
I do, yes.
Panorama from the streets of Morocco and Syria, great stuff. We are enjoying fantastic rain here in England, it gets dark around 4pm and we are in the midst of another Lockdown, how great is Great Britain?
You have lovely sunshine, great food and a much more relaxed lifestyle out there, it's a no brainer my friend that you made a wise choice. I was in Morocco in November, December last year and came back in early January this year. I almost booked a package deal for 7 days to Morocco a few days before lock down luckily I didn't as I wouldn't have been able to go.
Have you many friends out there? Are you situated in one place or do you travel around to different locations in Morocco? How long have you been there? Do you come back to the UK to see family and friends?
Enjoy!
Hi. It's terrible that I haven't replied to you sooner. Truthfully, I lost track of all the comments.
To answer your questions...
I arrived here in 2014, so I have been here 8 years now (2022)
I am based in Rabat.
You might be interested in my video "An Atheist In An Islamic Country" ua-cam.com/video/1Y21w5U6FlU/v-deo.html
Yeah, I go back to the UK to see family and friends, but I really enjoy the Moroccan weather and my ocean view to stay too long in the UK. Because of Covid, the last time I was there, we had a queen and hadn't quite left the EU. I hear a lot has changed!
@@GariSullivan Many thanks for your reply. How ironic that you have replied when I'm visiting Agadir my favourite City in Morocco although I like Rabat too! I got introduced to Morocco through my ex wife and I visited Rabat many times prior to our marriage. Now I'm also looking for another wife in my life!! Could she be Moroccan if I find the right one. I do love Morocco it's various Cities, beautiful history, architecture, culture, food, most people and more importantly the nice weather good for the creaky joints, aches and pains we suffer in beautiful England full of dampness, rain, wind and snow!
A lot of people don't feel too safe in England's crime and drug ridden streets nowadays 😕
The only thing I really dislike in Morocco are the cheaters who try and scam outsiders thinking they are being clever but how foolish of them as they are losing the repeat business their honesty could give them through repeat business and sales! Never mind there are bad people we have to deal with everywhere. As I mentioned before I would seriously consider buying a small reasonably priced apartment near Agadir perhaps if I could find someone honest to help and they must be able to speak English. Nice to hear back from you Gari. All my best.
