Only the great Rampal could carry off a duet with the sublime Miss Piggy...note the end, as Jean-Pierre Rampal looks deeply into Miss Piggy's eyes! And kisses her paw!
Jean-Pierre Louis Rampal (7 January 1922 - 20 May 2000) was a French Flautist. He has been personally "credited with returning to the Flute the popularity as a solo classical instrument it had not held since the 18th century."
Probably true. I was fortunate enough to here him play at the Library of Congress back in the '60s. Robert Veyron-Lacroix (spelling?) accompanied him for the first half on the harpsichord and the piano for the second half.
This song sounds like a classical aria, but it's not. It was composed by Derek Scott for the show with the lyrics originating from the Shakespeare poem _Venus and Adonis._
The original has been destroyed! It was longer and more interesting and ALSO what You are seeing in the FIRST 20 seconds or so with Kermit and Miss Piggy IS DISTORTED! What idiot messed this up? PHOOEY!
he plays so clear and accuratly
I haven't watched this in years. When I look at it today, it makes me miss JP so much. ❤️

You really have to be not only a great musician but also a great guy to deliver such a tongue-in-the-cheek performance :-)

Flutist...not Flautist...
@@sgsmozart flau·tist /ˈflôdəst,ˈfloudəst/ noun: flautist; plural noun: flautists: a flute player.
