And that's why there are so many problems between MILs & DILs. MILs want everything to go their way, because no one is ever good enough for her son in her eyes. Keep your opinions to yourself and maybe, just maybe you MILs won't have this scenario happen to you.
She thinks that she's the matriarch of the family, so she has absolute power, and nobody is allowed to question or disobey her. Personally, if I had a MIL like Phyllis, I would be catching a case for assault because I would be giving her some rather vigorous percussive maintenance to the noggin to make her remember her place and to help her check her privilege.
Finally a story that is about a strong independent woman responsible for her own success. There are too many story’s that have a woman who obeys or is abused by their husband or mother-in-law.. more storylines like this please x
There have actually been a few stories where the FMC had a strong backbone and took no shit from the antagonist, be it crappy MILs, a-hole husbands, or toxic family members
I love some of these stories that the MIL is a jerk!! Especially when the DIL tries to work with the MIL and gets fed up with her and let's her have it!! Those are the best!! LOL
My mother was like Phyllis. Always asking when my next vacation was, assuming we would spend it together, me doing all the work. It got to the point I told her I didn't have vacations because I was having to use up my annual leave in place of sick leave because the stress of dealing with her was too much.
I love the story where the husband defends his wife is from his stupid mean mom at all 😂😂😂😂 why don't this mother ln law mind of her business instead of interfere her sons ḿarried life at all so annoying that some mother-in-law loves to cause trouble in their children's life especially in married life.😮😮😮

One of those rare and epically fun stories with a strong, feisty, intelligent and witty female OP that stands her ground from start to finish 😂. Loved her so much and the beautifully smooth way she deftly dealt with the wicked and childish MIL....such a refreshing change to the usual put-upon submissive and downtrodden OPs. Yaaaay
Men doing the housework ain't anything new. My Dad did his share, and he was a truckie. As for Phyllis, "Strong the narcissistic projection with this one is." And now she wonders why karma bit her in the britches.
My dad mainly cooked, but he helped as he could. Husband is an OTR trucker, so he isn't home much, but he helps as he can as well. NO reason for a man to not help!
@@wendymonkelien-brown579 I could think of several reasons as to why not help with various reasons, but the only reasons to not do anything at all would be serious impairments (physical or mental) or the extremely, extremely clumsy / unlucky type
@@Robbini0 I have an extremely clumsy/unlucky type, but he still helps when he's home, but yes, there may be some times. Just don't think that was what we all are talking about though.....

In Germany. I would be nordpossible, to get a divorce quickly. after filing for divorce, you have to wait one year, before it is finalised, then a judge in court makes it official, even if the separation is in consent. So I am always really astonished as well, to read about this divorces. I thought it’s like this in the US.
Yeah some southern traditions especially the ones with the in-laws who want the daughter in laws to be docile and obedient are so pathetic i mean I’m sorry but that’s my opinion
1. The voices on these videos are mostly annoying. That's why I turn the volume off and read it. 2. Abusive MIL syndrome is not just a southern thing. It crosses all cultures. The root cause is a mother who thinks that she has to make her son's life fit her standards. The worst scenario is the emotional incest situation where the mother and son are so emotionally tied that mommy always comes first in his life.
It depends. In some places if the divorce papers are signed by both parties and depending on the other sections in the paper work, it doesn’t need a judge.
@@Mehp2 these are portrayed as being in the states. A judge has to sign your divorce petition in the states to become divorced. You also need to show ID at the court to prove who you are. This is done so someone can’t make you divorced because they’re mad at you or your spouse, and it takes months and months to get divorced just from the backlog of cases in family court. Most states have a minimum amount of time that you have to be separated before you can divorce.
Wow, that's some MIL. She needs to mind her own business .Instead of butting into her Dil's life and dictating how Dil should conduct her life, Mil should be happy that her son actually likes helping his wife with the housework. My mother, when she was alive, had this simple quote, "Many hands make light work." She was correct.😊 My husband would help me with the housework, whenever I needed the help. Most times I'd do it myself, but on those days that I was tired , he'd gladly help, especially with 4 little ones we were raising.I'm glad that this husband and wife stood up to his mother/her Mil and told her where to stuff her remarks.😊❤ There's absolutely nothing wrong wrong with a man's help , just as there's nothing wrong with a grown man shedding some tears when they need to. Doing these things doesn't make them any less a man.😊❤❤
Phyllis ruined her life & seems to be a bit judgemental & clingy. She only realized she should behave after learning she was going to be a grandma & that OP made enough for Kevin to be a househusband which he's fine with, she became even more desperate after finding out she was getting a divorce & being cut off by her family over the actions she should have stopped before it was too late. I'm guessing they didn't press charges on her for forgery in exchange for leaving with her brother to move in with him for a bit. I say this cause OP said they had everything setup to report her for illegally trying to send in divorce papers for OP & Kevin but there's no mention of it after it's mentioned.
This story teaches one thing very important, which is to never allow anybody to insult, abuse, and use you like a doormat. If the character Carla had put her down the first time when she tried to insult her things wouldn't have gone that far. Also both the male characters are portrayed as spineless aholes who can't stand up for themselves. Learn to stand up against abuse and insults even if it will end your relationship. It is better off to live without spineless aholes. Women should be loving and kind, but also stern and straight. Be loving and kind to those do the same, and stern and straight to the face to those arrogant narcissists.
My obligation to my mother-in-law is curtesy. The woman who is my husbands mother may or may not have my respect, kindness, and willing help. Nobody has a right to claim automatic blind obedience.
Lol it seems to be a running thing in mil stories. You just have to sign papers and give them to whatever government entity oversees such things. No notarized papers. No division of assets. Just sign, or in this case, forge some forms and you're divorced. Nevada has quickie marriages, maybe they have quickie divorces? I know way back in the 40s, if a woman wanted a "quick" divorce they would have to move to Reno and establish residency for a specific number of weeks. There was also the option of going to Mexico. I'm not sure how that worked but I think you could get married and divorced easily there... at least that's how it worked in movies and television. 😂
So the DIl seems to have a few things wrong. Her husband is still HER son. She's STILL gonna have a dil and she's still gonna be that grandmother of that baby. even if you cut her off. she's still gonna be next of kin if anything happens to op, her husband and her fil... i swear the Op's are just as dumb as the bullies in theses now.
I was a good mother-in-law and me and my daughter-in-law got along great but her mom didn't like my son. That was 18 years ago and I haven't seen my granddaughter since. My son was always good to my daughter-in-law but it was his mother-in-law that was the problem. Good for Carla, Kevin and Carl for getting rid of that toxic woman from their lives.

I love this daughter in law! Her "no shits given" attitude and the fact that she doesn't let her warmongering mother-in-law get her riled up.
I cant imagine doing housework for someone as abusive as Phyllis. I can't imagine willingly continuing contact with an abuser either.
My tolerance for their nonsense would be very low. I'm spiteful like that.
I'm from a Southern family. Carla should tell Phyllis "Bless your heart"😂
