I’ve owned two Sports (JK & JKU); now have the Rubicon (JL). Getting older and wanted more out of the gate - the Dana 44s, F & R lockers, swaybar disconnect, etc. That being said, it’s fun to get a Sport and modify along the way. First mod would be to remove those Euro spec bumper pieces that fit between the bumper & front fenders - those are hideous. Would only do hard top; the soft tops look like crap after 60K miles or so.
Just what I've always wanted in a vehicle; the ability to remove the doors, fold the windshield onto the hood, and get rid of the roof. Many are the times I've wanted to ditch the doors on my car. I've tried it on several vehicles without success. Just kidding. I fully support the availability of the Wrangler for the Jeep cult. Otherwise, I suspect they might consider armed revolution. :)

Same here, gonna keep my 2014 for a while, the new JL is just ugly in my opinion. Windshield is sloped back more, more added plastic and even the new ones on the lot the plastic looks old already. Rear tail lights give the rear end a droopy look to it, hard to explain but it looks funny. And the prices on the JL's! INSANE! I will say I don't see that many on the road yet. Not hard to understand why.
It's not about the tech or the speed. Have to drive it to know. I drove the Rubicon and I loved it. My friend in NJ has the Moab. I want to drive that one. I would get the Wrangler Sport S if I could get one now. I like the 2 door look. Thanks for this review. Great Job!
That floating feeling while driving may be the feeling you get from those tall sidewall tires and the short wheelbase. That's to be expected. "Its a Jeep"!
I get 21mpg mixed with a 4 door on 33" tires. The JL is a great jeep.. it is a goat and has a lot of power mated to the 8 speed. The new soft top is so quick and easy. No more zippers. This is the best wrangler IMHO, unless you want a certain year
Nice 👍 Joe! One of the big things with JL wrangler is the ease of the top folding back. The back and side windows they just slide out and then when your done they slide back in in and lock into place. 2 minutes.
Excellent review joe as always. For that price im surprised it doesnt come with power windows and locks standard for this generation. Would love to see a review in the future on the turbocharged wrangler option!
My experience owning one so far... Every ad, pamphlet, sales literature and even the sales pitch at the dealership revolve around it's off road capabilities. Yet doing things I did on a weekend basis with my 20 year old Wrangler TJ Sahara caused the yolk on the front inner axle to fail, taking out a ball joint and snapped an ear off of the now cheap aluminum steering knuckle. All on a brand new 2019 Wrangler JL Rubicon! First they tried to brush me off due to evidence of mud under the vehicle (for real?). The argument quickly escalated that I possibly hit something despite 0 damage on any other components. They wouldn't say I did hit something for sure, but since it was a possibility... they had an argument. It was also a possibility a part failed... just saying. When making it clear I couldn't be without a vehicle any longer and that I have to get it fixed, I asked if it needed anything else. They didn't know, as they didn't inspect it. They just saw it was broke and dirty and essentially just said nope unless I paid up. I was told they could see if anything aside from what they could see by looking behind the tire was broke, but I'd have to pay for a full inspection. At one point I was given the option to pay in "advance" to speed up the repairs and if the warranty kicked in, I'd be reimbursed. Ya, right... Being jerked around between the dealership and customer service, I took my jeep elsewhere to get fixed. Doing so apparently waived my right to complain anymore or receive compensation. But after 2 weeks of being without a vehicle... it had to be done. It turned into 3 weeks after everything was said and done. That's what 60k buys you! I've posted this a few times on Jeeps facebook page. Which are all deleted and I am blocked now from commenting. Guess your only allowed to tell people to go ahead and void your warranty work, it's fun!
I’m 14 right now and my parents said they would buy a 2019 or 2020 wrangler for my bday in sophomore year which will be November 2021. I really want a 2 door and I want it to be red or yellow. This would be the perfect car. Just hope my parents pay something like 15k instead of 40.
Why is that $39000? The base price of a 19 Wrangler sport is a little over $28000. Automatic Transmission is a $2000 option Mopar lift is $1500 so I guess the tires and rims must have cost $7500. My 18 sport s cost me $32700 it came with a lot more options than that Jeep like power windows, locks, mirrors, alloy wheels which the tire dealer took in as trade for my Mickey Thompson rims. All total with my lift, tires, rims mine was less than $35000.
It’s pure shit. You can find a clean higher end BMW with low mileage for 40k. The difference in luxury, performance, and brand would be ridiculous. I don’t understand why someone would become a laughing stock spending big money on this cereal box car that drives worse than any car on the road.
Beautiful Jeep. not sure about the giant spare tire on the back, would b nice to hide it somehow into the back of the jeep or bottom. Interior is simple and looks pretty good. Great review.
I leased a 2020 wrangler sport 2 door soft top 6 speed manuel trans. . Tilt wheel, cruise control, premium sound system, lots of bells and whistles but........NO A.C.!! I guess you gotta order it as an option, lol. Well, if I want ac I will roll down the windows.
Its a 28k msrp and they’re probably charging 10k for the tires and shocks... for 6k you can do that yourself at a shop and get some actual beedlock wheels and better shocks and a nice lift. NEVER buy a modified new car from a dealer. Ever. You’re always over paying through the nose.
40k is pretty steep, regardless I would love to own one for weekend off-road fun. Just wouldn't forgive myself if I bought something worth more than what I make in a year lol.
great job Joe love ur video s I think they should of put a lil jeep on the key, n they should of put the dashboard like 1960 jeep but from 2020 great job brother
I paid 18K for a base model Wrangler soft top in 2008. It was brand new. Today that same Jeep would be almost 34K before tt&l. They aren't worth the money.
I paid $13.5k for my 1998 Jeep Wrangler SE (minus tax) in the Chicago suburbs…soft top, no back seat, 5 sp/ 2.5L 4 cyl, no a/c. I still own it, just a bit faded paint from the Florida sun nowadays…100k trouble free miles.
@@DIGIOVINAZZO that's only with the limited slip option that if I'm not mistaken is only available on sport S and Sahara. This one looks like the regular sport with some dealer add ons.
Getting ready to order my first jeep. Thanks for the introduction. The good news is I'll be spending $6,000 less since I do not want or need that silly optional suspension and tires package. Plus I only drive manuals. Because as real men know "if you're not shifting... you're not driving." Hey now.
If you want a new Wrangler, you must buy from a dealer. However, I would advise people to never buy a modified wrangler from a dealer. They always ask too much for the junk they install (in this case, a lift we know very little about, and some Nitto tires). To put things in perspective, I just bought a 2019 Rubicon for $42,000, which was almost $4,000 under MSRP. For that extra $3k I didn’t get a cheap lift, but I got a heavier front axle, F/R lockers, a better transfer case, a sway bar disconnect, the 8.4” radio, Alpine audio system, power windows and locks, the premium soft top, led head headlights, and heated seats/steering wheel. I can drop $2,000 on a premium lift and $1,500 on tires later and be far more capable.
Gavin M try another dealer. Go to edmunds dot com first and build what you want and look at the summary screen. It will tell you what the true market value is. Then you will have an idea going in. There is a dealer five minutes from me that wanted almost $5,000 more for essentially the same vehicle. I went to a larger dealer 30 minutes away and paid the $42k.
I love wranglers and the price is pretty rough with a few options added on. They can do that when the only real competitor is the 4Runner. I wish reliability was better.
39k....dear lord. I still have my father's 99 Wrangler Sport he paid 18, 500 in Oct 1998. Still running well but it's pre FCA quality. Sarcasm on FCA quality 😏
Jeep is taking forever to release the diesel version. Too bad it’ll be an Italian diesel under the hood of the American icon instead of a Cummins ... probably the reason for the delays (well that and diesel gate). So Jeep should get a zonk for VM Motori. 2019, (like the comment said) 39K for manual windows ... that should be a damn zonk on principle. 🤣🤣... good review RR
Why buy something that someone else modified when you can do it for yourself and get exactly what you want. Classic case of a dealer slapping mods on and hoping to overcharge
I like all the basics like manual hood holder, manual windows, etc but why are they $40,00?? Other cars for that price can give you more luxury and practicality. They need to make these 2 doors about $25,000
I'm torn on the Jeep Sport because they are way, way overpriced. I do love the simplicity of the sport, all the way down to the crank windows. If I were to get one, the only options I'd want are the hard top and air conditioning. I'm not sure I'd want the manual or automatic. The 3.6 Pentastar engine is proven and honestly, it's the only FCA product I would consider purchasing. But man, that price...
Great review Joe, but I only like the 4 door Jeep Wranglers only but u know what it's a Jeep at the end of the day!!😁😁 and FIGHT ON JOE AND JEEP. Thanks Joe.

I’m 14 right now and my parents said they would buy a 2019 or 2020 wrangler for my bday in sophomore year which will be November 2021. I really want a 2 door and I want it to be red or yellow. This would be the perfect car. Just hope my parents pay something like 15k instead of 40.
Good job Joe on the review of this Jeep.
That is a very good point!
Hopefully the bronco gives us an affordable answer to the Jeep. I love the simplicity but not how expensive the brand name is.
Fingers crossed for sure!
Overpriced, and you know it. Not paying $40K for a 5in screen and manual windows
That's why Toyota makes Camry's for people like you. Rock on!
I guess the dealer installed mods brings up the price.
There's some Kool-Aid available at your local Jeep dealer.
No one is paying 40k for a Sport S. Average price near me (which is a very hot Jeep market) is 28k.
Thanks Andy! Very good point about the spare!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.
Great video so glad you did one on Wrangler ! Looking to get one end of the year 😍
Thanks Matt! I really appreciate it!
40k is pretty steep, regardless I would love to own one for weekend off-road fun. Just wouldn't forgive myself if I bought something worth more than what I make in a year lol.
This one has some dealer installed mods.
@@RaitisRides base is what 32,000 to 33,000? Still not a good deal.
Still keeping my TJ.
great job Joe love ur video s I think they should of put a lil jeep on the key, n they should of put the dashboard like 1960 jeep but from 2020 great job brother
Thanks Chris for letting me share this one with you!
Spend the money get the Sahara. I love mine.
I can totally see your point!
Good job again Joe
Thank you for taking the time to say that!
I need one of these. Currently driving a 2017 Ford Focus ST and only a matter of time until I trade it in for one of these!
My Dream car. I love jeeps. What colors do they come in.
40K for a sport Wrangler 2 door I don’t know. Maybe for a Sahara or rubicon. I’ll go used.
Rubicon is over $50k! I already feel your pain!
Real world reviews.
Yes sir!
i lov this jeep 👍👍
I paid 18K for a base model Wrangler soft top in 2008. It was brand new. Today that same Jeep would be almost 34K before tt&l. They aren't worth the money.
I paid $13.5k for my 1998 Jeep Wrangler SE (minus tax) in the Chicago suburbs…soft top, no back seat, 5 sp/ 2.5L 4 cyl, no a/c. I still own it, just a bit faded paint from the Florida sun nowadays…100k trouble free miles.
Good luck with those 35" tires and the 3.21 gear with Dana 30/35
Dana 44 the rear one 30 the front one
@@DIGIOVINAZZO that's only with the limited slip option that if I'm not mistaken is only available on sport S and Sahara. This one looks like the regular sport with some dealer add ons.
Thanks for sharing that great input!
Thanks for that info!
Getting ready to order my first jeep. Thanks for the introduction. The good news is I'll be spending
$6,000 less since I do not want or need that silly optional suspension and tires package. Plus I only
drive manuals. Because as real men know "if you're not shifting... you're not driving." Hey now.
I like it I have a2014 sport love it
Thanks for sharing that Frank! I appreciate you watching!
Great video. Thanks!
Thanks for letting me share it with you John!
Noah 42,000 for a rubicon! Damn! I went to a dealer the other day and they wanted 43k for a sport+
Noah was the sticker price 42k or did u knock them down a couple grand
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one Noah. That is one heck of a price on a Rubicon!
I totally agree with that!
Thank you for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
Your 99 will absolutely outlast that new one.
The same goes for the Gladiator Sport S
Good job 👍
nice review, removing doors and top was necessary as that is a selling plus to be seen.
So very true!
Can’t wait until you review the Gladiator
Coming soon!
One nice thing about my new jeep is no one will steal it cause they cant shift a manual transmission, lol
I like the way that you think!
Same jeep of my boyfriend, color yellow😊
That is very cool1
Thks Joe.Glad you got to drive it.Next time off road?
Fingers crossed it should be done!
Yes! Been waiting for a jeep review! Jeep wrangler that is..
I am glad that I could bring it to you! I have more to come!
You hit every nail on the head!
the dashboard looks somewhat similar to the 3rd gen tacoma imo
Thanks for your input and perspective! I appreciate you watching!
@@RaitisRides no problem, anytime :)
"But you know what? It's a jeep"
Great review Joe, but I only like the 4 door Jeep Wranglers only but u know what it's a Jeep at the end of the day!!😁😁 and FIGHT ON JOE AND JEEP. Thanks Joe.
Thanks Jay for being so awesome and dedicated!
40k for a sport? No. Just buy one without mods and do the mods yourself. It will be cheaper then 40k
You can get a sport in a 4 door as well.
This is so very true! Thanks for watching!
Is it ready to be taken to Walmart and Sams club in one trip? That’s what I need it for :-)
I see what you did there!
Only if you remove the back seat. There’s not a whole lot of space behind the rear seat.
