This is awesome, I'm always baffeled at how small the Grime community is, so to see a sequel and so soon is epic. The one thing I really hope for is with the theme of hands and arms there has to be a grappling hook. But in any case this is marvelous, and with the last DLC and switch port on the way I'm ecstatic for the future of Grime, Cloverbite, and Team Malignant. You've made excellent content so far, so I'm so glad to see that it doesn't appear to be stopping any time soon.
@@prawnstar9213to me adventuring was also kind of unfun. It was frustrating walking through the same area over and over again after dying to some small enemy. A lot of the secrets are also kind of... ass. There are so many borderline invisible breakable walls that hold hunt points or weapons and armor that it hurts. I tried the trait that says something about pulling on secrets but i couldnt see anything, though i just might not have come across anything I might have to give the game another go with another style of weapon. Writing this comment i realised that a lot of my frustrations probably stemmed from using the slowest and clunkiest weapons for the whole game (i used pillar slab for 80% of the game and had to look on the wiki to find the marginally better spineaxe hidden in some asscrack of childbed)
Oh I love the liquid aesthetic on so many of the creatures and environments in this. GRIME is basically the only metroidvania that has truly hooked me, so I'll be very happy to see what the sequel has to offer! Ahh, and I'm so excited to hear more amazing music from Alex Roe!
I dig the liquid theme as a nice chance from the rock one. With the liquid tendrils it Almost looks like a venom symbiote or Alex Mercer from Prototype.
I'm curious for the plot of this one, the player character doesn't look like another Akhlan but this world still houses the same type of creatures that we are aflicted by the old pain and my guess is that an Akhlan should eventually arrive to distroy them. So why would our character be destroying them instead? Isn't that supposed to be the Akhlan job? It's in the Akhlan's nature to destroy but we know nothing about why we are doing this. Or perhaps this is another type of Akhlan but in the first game it made it's body out of what was closest to it (rocks) and this did the same thing except that wax was the closest thing to this one. So yeah really curious about the story.
Akhlan was the true name of the Vessel in the first game, not what it was. Its name in a previous life, so to speak, before the Titans died. I believe the idea is Akhlan was the name of the body we're in and the Vessel is a Spiral Heart forming within Akhlan.
@@kemanorel3110 I think that the Akhlan is the name given by the titans to the spiral heart, when the Titan is talking about the Aklhan in the pale sky it says "Ma... Why this...kore ...happening... Betokh... what inside us... is birthing this... Akhlan... darkness..." and before that we hear "The primeval... Zkenim... something inside... ripping them apart" the indication that the thing ripping them apart is coming from inside lets us know that the Akhlan is the black hole, not the vessel. We know that only the Akhlan in the form of a black hole would have the strenght necessary to break apart a titan so this can't be the vessel and we also know that the Akhlan is dark due to it being again a black hole soI think it's safe to say that the Akhlan is the name of the blackhole and not of the vessel.
Spiral hearts are born from Levolam. i bet we inside another worldparent. We play as the Formless in 2. i wonder if we will find another spiral heart in this game
@@Padre_des_los_penitentes its definetely not another spiral heart, in grime 1 we went all the way trying to devour the world, in this one it seems more like assimilation rather than destruction by the way the possible checkpoints seem to activate
No friggen way! I was not expecting a Gime II! I'm admittedly a little unsure why there needs to be a second one... but I also have enough good faith from how amazing the first one is that I'm automatically onboard.
There’s needs to be a second because the first was so damn good! Even if the story is different/unrelated. Another game with similar visuals, gameplay, mechanics is super exciting! I get your point regarding potential sequels when considering how the first game ended
I agree that this game simply doesn't need a second part. But due to the abstractness of the narrative and the world, it is possible to constantly make sequels of various kinds. The world is too inconsistent, a kind of surrealism.
The first Grime game had good gameplay, atmosphere and environments! It's gritty and grimy! I'm looking forward to this sequel! I like the creatures and art in this!
The aesthetics taking a completely new direction with liquids compared to Grime 1's rock and sinew is definitely just as striking. I never expected to like Grime 1 as much as I did so having a sequel announced so soon after beating the game is great. Hope it will turn out just as good, if not better.
Grime was the best MV game I've played in years, and I'm a huge genre fan. The mechanics, the story, the art and sound... It was all perfect and I'm excited for more. I really can't wait to see how the story ties into the first one. More Goldhead, perhaps?
Brother, I put a lot of time into the first game, and it's my favorite game, I'm definitely going to play this game, I love the new approach to the world, the new main character looks promising
I am unbelievably happy this is getting a sequel. Truly one of my favorite action side-scrollers that I felt really didn’t get the love it deserved! Grime is way up there, close to Hollow Knight for me. Really looking forward to seeing what Clover Bite can do to expand on their unique world and combat mechanics. 😃 (I owe credit to Indiemaus for making me aware of this hidden gem!)
Super happy we’re getting a sequel, but… theory time! This endgiver bears a significant resemblance to the images within Cenotaph City. Perhaps after the spiral heart is caged in the bad ending this is the Coda coalescing to end it all themselves in the dressed in the image they embraced? The presence of architecture is more ubiquitous, which would imply a passage of time, and the scenery present in the trailer further indicates things being able to leak where they shouldn’t.
Looking at the grimy (pun intended) asthetic of some certain areas and enemies, mainly the rotting and foul green-yellow, I believe this could be taking place in the corpse of a Titan who's Aklan failed to bring the end and let the body decay to such an extent. If the theory about GrIIme's end giver being an actual parasite trying to infest the body is true, it gives a clear "biological" reason as to why Spiral Hearts even exist, to destroy the body and prevent such parasites from desecrating the corpse of the Titans. Of course if this is true, it means there will be some grave consequences beyond the end of the body if the stealer of shapes succeeds, but that remains to be seen until the game releases.
Can't be form over substance, as you play as a formless entity :) First game was crazy good, and this trailer displays some intent to innovate on their mechanics, it appears that the trait system may have now taken the form of stealing enemies forms to summon as attacks. It definitely seems like they are trying to keep a lot close to their chest judging from the trailer though

Grime 1 was about moving through the body of a dead god as its body was decomposing. Grime 2 looks to be about moving through the body of a god that may be alive, but is very clearly sick.

Could the difference in aesthetics be simply between a Dying body taking in the final Breath, releasing the Endgiver as it exhales, and a Living body that (probably) exudes the Breath, holding onto life as the _--Moist One--_ Beginningtaker spawns itself?
the glue color (an almost white but dirty goo) comes from the fact that he is a "statue", and all the viscous yellow disappears completely? Where is yellow and why is that not the predominant color when using powers like the rest of the game?
Weapons and combat dont look quite as enjoyable but i will play it none the less. Also, I feel like this may take place in the Otherwhere, given the more beastly designs.. And I would love to see the endgiver and the formless square off. Just to see what would happen.
This is eighter Otherwhere or the body of the other Titan that lends breath to the original world parent of Grime. Imo i think Endgiver is stronger cause of black hole but Formless seems like he has much more abbilities.
