Peugeot 504 had oil based air filter that could just be cleaned and reused. Windscreen wiper system was also dustproof. I will always remember trip through Varmia with my friends. Halfway through my brother got into his 504 and thrown to me keys to his friend's VW Golf saying lets race back on sandy roads in the forest. He was just slowing down from time to time to feed us dust :D. Amazing. It was like racing on motorboats on the very narrow river...
My first car was a 504, my dad was converted from Holden to peugeot by the 504, its my favourite car off all time, it's just a legendary piece of machinery, one day I hope to own my dream car, the 504 coupe 😍
Yes Peugeot was the car in Redex Reliability Trials in Australia. The Holden's fell apart. The Holden, the GM car foisted on Australia was a poor imitation.
thanks Alex for uploading such a great video of the sahara and the peugeot 504 .it is really a beautiful nostalgia .I was in the 86 a boy of 5 years old and I remember each part of my dad's car the peugeot 504 it works on gas GLS . and the sahara the place where I was raised .extrem south of algeria near mali .I remember the folks coming from europe at that time for crossing the sahara all with shorts and jeans and hats .it was a sweet time before .
Dear Peter, Nice to read your reflection on these times! As you, I have these memories from the friendly people in and around the desert in south Algeria and north of Mali. It was a dangerous trip but if we met the local people before and after the non populated area's and we felt welcome :) As you say "sweet times"
