I'm converting through the Conservative Judaism route and go to a shul that serves both a Conservative and a Reform congregation and they have to share a Rabbi. It's the only shul in town. I go to shul pretty often and I love everything about it. I lovingly call myself "conserva-form" because I will go to any service as long as it's Jewish! 😂 I was taken by surprise by how it made me feel when he read that little snippet of Torah! that familiar melody and the rhythm of the words... I'm listening on a weekday and playing a game while I listen... But it still gave me butterflies. A magical feeling. There's something so beautiful in being connected to something so old and rich and deep. I take Torah very seriously. In my home study I get a lot of my teachings from Orthodox sources. But I'm gay and intermarried so I can never be frum without completely uprooting my life. 😅 Maybe someday when my child is grown and my spouse is dead? I won't rule it out as an eventuality, but right now I have too much love in my life to throw it all away. And the more I study the more I learn the most important thing in life IS our relationships to other humans, especially our family. It makes me very upset how many Jews look down on other types of Jews and think only their movement is doing it right. A Jew is a Jew is a Jew. The thing that brings us all together is the Torah. I wish we could collectively move past our differences in theology and practice and focus on our similarities. I think that will bring us closer to the age of peace that we all collectively yearn for than any amount of in fighting will ever hope to accomplish!
I am a non-believer and an anti-religionist, but after watching this video, I think I like Reform Judaism. This actually seems to be a form of religion that does make the world a better place. Or perhaps it is the rabbi who seems to be such a genuine good person.
Check out Noahide if you're not ethnically Jewish. The righteous of all nations have a place in the world to come. Noahide is for the Gentiles who acknowledge Judaism as true, and only recognizes the G-d Israel witnessed at sinai and no other claimants of Lordship. Jews for Judaism, Tanak talks, outreach judaism are great resources to learn more.
The days are coming in which I will make the New Covenant with the Israel. In these days, I will put my Law in their bodies and write it on their hearts. I will be their King and they will be my people. And they will say no more: ''Know the King''. They will all know me. I will forgive their iniquity with Judah and I will remember their sin no more. I'm back. The Kingdom is here.
CASE IN POINT: No Wonder why we have so many religions today and so many contradictions with the Abrahamic Scriptures. Islam and Christianity were created with the same concept of Reform Judaism. People have taken the an ancient and sacred Scriptures with so many interpretations and assumptions referring to that book merely a poetic and historical book full of "myths and fallacies" according to Reform Judaism. It's really sad that they use the Tanakh or Torah to create their own splinter of Orthodox Judaism. . I think RJ should invent another book to use it for themselves similar like the Christian Mormons or Jehovah Witnesses. I can't believe Reform Judaism "RJ Jews " interpreted the Tanakh and Torah as a book that has no spiritual value to them anymore. They are doing what the Pope is preaching in the world to do common good" and disregarding the Bible or even their own Christian book. The gentile world and the Jewish world became like Noah's times for sure. Reformed Judaism are better off becoming Christians. LOL LOL At least Christians acknowledge the Bible for their spiritual value and don't negate the Scriptures regardless of their subjective theology. I don't agree with none of the above. If that's the case with Reform Judasim, there is no difference than Buddism or Hinduism and Reform Judaism . LOL LOL that's absurd....we are really in the end times even though RJ don't believe in the end times.
Reform Jews understand the Bible better than any Christian can pretend to…because it’s their book. There are thousands of scholars that study Torah without trying to shoehorn or retrofit events and characters and call it fulfilled prophecies. Many Christians think that Judaism is what their Christian book says Judaism is, which is perplexing. It’s funny how you recommend RJ create their own book…since that’s what the “New Testament” is…It’s full of ghosts, emphasizes human sacrifice and ends with fairy tales using imagery that is not consistent with Torah. It’s not the end of times, BTW. We’ll be here for a while…Prove me wrong 🤣
So good to hear more from this Rabbi!

Seriously, more people should know about this show.
Agreed!
Yep. Enough video games and complaining about movies.
More smart stuff, please.
Non-zoom, in person interview. About time!

Precisely why I'm converting. Eventually learned I didn't hate religions altogether, just mostly Christianity 😂
@@arioctober Hope, you'll find what you are seeking then. Good luck!
This rabbi is very reflective of the reform movement in general!
Alright! Really love seeing the ark and Torah. Realizing that in all my life, I never actually got to be this close to one
Thank you rabbi Edry. I'm discerning if Judaism is right for me suddenly so much makes sense now

There is absolutely no reason to discourage people from converting to Judaism if that’s how they’re inclined.
Never heard of reform Judaism before now. Interesting.
Happy you learned something, that our goal!
The opening got a chuckle. Was expect Franklin to argue with himself.
Thank you
You're welcome

I see right? He’s in a Temple in front of Torah Ha Kadosh without kipa while reading Torah?
A joke?
