One time I did not pack every thing, and my trip was terrible. I was cold and not prepared for the weather. Now, I'm an over packer and ready for anything.
If Johnny Cash went to Vegas, you might get a 3 am phone call to bail him out of the clink. I hope you have a wonderful vintage time, Laci. Stay safe and drive carefully.
Thanks for bringing back fond memories. My mom received a set of blue Samsonite luggage in 1963 as a wedding gift. In the early 70s I would get to take the train case with me on overnight trips to my grandmother's house. I felt so sophisticated at the ripe old age of 6 or 7. 😅🤣😂
My days of travelling with vintage luggage is over .My arms have thanked me for buying luggage with wheels. My vintage luggage I now use to store papers ,documents and vintage magazines. I find Shoe cleaners and dyes are great to restore old luggage. Great to have you back Laci always enjoy your videos. Hope you have a great time in Vegas.
Wow, good find! People in my area are sorting out stuff and putting it at the side of the road a lot because everybody's bored during lockdown 😁 I already found some great stuff in the last few months!
Hope you have a great break, I've always loved fifties style but only worn it occasionally, thanksr to youtubers like yourself I am now gradually changing my wardrobe over to all fifties/forties styles, of course it helps working full time in a charity shop.
They should come out with a vintage luggage line with wheels. Luggage with wheels is definitely one practical and welcome update, and I don't think anyone would willingly go back.
I honestly love how she leaves the mistakes in her vids when trying to come up with the right way to say something and the pauses when thinking. To me it is more relatable than a highly edited vid Love it!
Hubby and I are overpackers 😂 We usually fill our car for a 10 day camping trip, just with our stuff... now we are going to have to figure out how to fit 2 cars seats, and baby stuff for a 1 y/o and newborn as well, this is going to be fun 😂
One of the police officers that I used to work with was a former Marine and at one point we were talking about packing for trips. He told me about the rolling method and, once I tried it, I've never gone back! Even if there is a random wrinkle or two, it can usually be touched up quickly with a hotel iron instead of looking like an unmade bed when you pull it out of the suitcase. Also, hard sided luggage is the BEST for protecting things when travelling! I usually use my Vera Bradley things for one or two nights away but, for anything longer than that, I pull out my hard sided suitcases. I wish the newer hard siders had the pretty interiors that the vintage ones had. What a fun watch!
I could never do what you do, but I do love your channel & you. You're so nice & informative. PS I lived in the 50s (as a child.) Have fun on your trip!
I had that blue Samsonite suitcase set all thru my past vintage life in the 60’s-70’s. I’m 68 and everyone I knew had them too. Put a strap around your suitcases as they flipped open a lot spilling out your cloths all over the place!
Happy Birthday, Laci! This should be an exciting trip for you, and if Johnny Cash doesn't want to go, I will GLADLY take his place. My sweet calico used to just hate to see my luggage come out--lots and lots of photos of her sleeping in, on and around my luggage!! Your packing skills are wonderful--all well planned. Unfortunately, I had my favorite polish [Revlon's Cherries in the Snow] spill in my luggage, ruining more items than I care to think about! I pack ALL liquid products in plastic bags--including my shoes. STILL, I manage to take MORE stuff than I would EVER wear or use! LOVE the chenille bedspread. I remember the infamous Phyllis Diller's book on housekeeping entitled, "How to get the chenille marks off your face when the doorbell rings." Have a wonderful time, stay cool by the pool, use your sunscreen liberally and often. The food is fantastic, and I hope you will win BIG! 😊🚗💖😎
I dont think of MYSELF as "vintage", but these were the suitcases I used as a kid, every vacation and summer camp. Suddenly Im feeling very old again. 😏
I could almost smell the moth balls when you opened that first Samsonite. My grandmom gave me a suitcase like that when I was little and I can still remember opening it and being reminded of her house just from the scent.
Lmbo i went to sleepovr my moms for the night and packed for a week🤣 everyone makes fun of me in the family, imagine when i go camping you dont wanna see🤣
Your channel is the most comforting one on the planet!!! I so love watching you do the things my mom did back in the 60s, particularly the cooking videos and things like this. Just going through your day as though it were 1953. I must say I’m surprised none of your kitties jumped into your suitcases while you were packing! And finally - I noticed that you haven’t made a video in a few months. So sorry to see that and hope everything is OK in your world! 🥰🥰👍👍
Have a wonderful Birthday trip you so deserve it. Oh I'm so relieved you're driving because I can't imagine that sweet little suitcase being clumped in with all the other suitcase in the airplane. 🛅✈ Drive safely 🚗💜
Overpacker here as well! Really enjoyed this video. I received a beautiful gray Samsonite suitcase as a graduation present when I was 18. I will be 70 next month and still have that suitcase. It's been many places and I absolutely will not part with it for the world. Samsonite makes great luggage! Enjoy your trip!😊
You are just the cutest! I love watching your videos as it brings me right back to the 50s and 60s when I was growing up and times were way less stressful! Thank you for your sharings!
My father gifted my mother a beautiful blue train case for her high school graduation (they were already dating). She took it out if state to college. Then when we were little girls, we would pack mommas train case full of her cosmetics, cremes and powders, and close every door in the house just so we could knock and them and play Avon Lady. My mother would sit patiently while we gave her a sales pitch, showing her all her own cosmetics. 🤣 She is 80 now. Still has that train case. Its still a fabulous piece. I think my sisters and I will be fighting over it when she passes! 😄
I'm so glad that your channel popped up in my recommendations! I love your channel! I was born in 83, but I love the 40's and 50's vintage style! Finally, someone who shares my love for vintage!
My mom had a set of avocado green suitcases - identical your green one - purchased in the early 70’s. Would love to see photos of you in all of your trip outfits. Would you consider packing a light cardigan? Air-conditioned restaurants and stores can be freezing cold! Have a marvellous trip❣️
I remember those suitcases. They were very fancy. Since I was born I. 1955,; I remover fashion from those days. Of course, there are the family albums. This was a great era!
Laci, I applaud your stamina in wearing Garter belts. When Pantyhose were invented, those of us wearing Garter belts or Girdles, breathed a sigh of relief, no more deeply imbedded clasps on the back of our legs from sitting. Lol! Great packing job. I too am an over packer, but I'm always prepared because of it. Glad you had a good time on your trip, too.
I have a red train case. It was my great grandma's. She was born in Nov. 1900. I have pictures of the two of us with that case and I was only three years old. I love it so much. Thanks for sharing your love of vintage living!
Just an idea that I saw someone use on their you tube …. When packing shoes 👠👟 you use a shower cap you open it up facing up then you put the shoes with the bottom of the shoes straight down so the soles are covered that way you keep everything clean in the suitcase 👍🏼 I thought that was a great idea because we know the bottom of shoes are very dirty 😱 it’s just idea …. And the best thing is you can buy the shower caps at the $1.00 store it has 2 in a package 👍🏼 I hope you had lots of fun 😎
Over packer right here for sure 🙋🏻♀️ Last weekend, we went on a road trip...2 nights 3 days. I packed for 5 days, and the kids did too. Totally prepared for weather and last minute change of plan. Cheers to prepared vacationers! D
We used the blue grey middle suitcase into the 90s. One time in the 80s we were going on a trip and my mom forgot to put the case in the trunk and my dad ran over it. They had a big argument and never ended up going.
I actually like the older pieces better. They’re easier to pack. I hate the zippers of new luggage. I saved my suitcase which has stickers all over it from places I visited with my parents.
I too, have a collection of vintage luggage , primarily, Vintage Samsonite Shwayder Bros. It is in various colors of the 50s Marble collection. I love it and use it daily as functional decor in my bedroom ! I use the make up case on the back corner of my dresser to hold cosmetics and such, the hatbox as a holder of my American Girl doll collection clothes and the bigger suitcases to hold my off season clothes.
This is so cool to see! I have also been collecting vintage luggages (samsonite), and I was wondering how one would travel through the airport with it because they don’t come with keys like you said 😭 💕 love your videos, please keep them coming!
Cute cases! That rolling method is the best. If you add a few pieces of gift wrapping tissue paper on top of the garment before you roll it, it helps prevent wrinkles even more. It does add some bulk, though.
My parents had a vintage Samsonite luggage set and train case. Mom used it up through the late 80s. I wish they would have kept it. The pieces were of great quality!
They all are beautiful. My family had the green one but my fear would be no 🔑 and the fact that it could be banged up if ur flying anywhere. Have a great time with your friends ♥️
I’m an over packer too! I’d rather have options and I dress according to mood...not something you can predict ahead of time. 😁 I roll items too!!!❤️ Please show us photos or video from your trip! Would love to see you relaxing by the pool and out on the town in Vegas!!
I have that exact white suitcase and blue train case. I also have a small green suitcase and 3 square blue ones. They were my mother's and grandmother's. I store my collectables in them. My mom also taught me to roll my clothes when packing. Great video.
I never was an overpacker, but I travelled a lot. But, I am kind of a minimalist, maybe that explain some things... For a 5 days trip, I would bring 3 outfits, one nicer and... that's it ;) ! But I'm amazed on how you were able to fit all of this in those two bags, well done !!
I have lots of vintage luggage, family heirlooms, if you will. Plus I was gifted the green set for Christmas when I was eight-ish by my uncle and my sister was gifted a blue set (vintage 70's). Love the ones that have the built in hangers. A baggie or box of baking soda will take the funk out over a couple days. Over packers rule! Please post pics of your Vegas trip!!
Oh my sweet swiss baby cheese! Laci you are just tooooooo cute with that color! Have a fabulous time in Fabulous Las Vegas, all the great stuff you're going to see and do. Make sure to grab a backup SD card, or update cloud. Photo ops are EVERYWHERE there.
My Mama had the whole set of Samsonite luggage like yours in hot pink with her initials and the hard, in-between section. Unfortunately, it is long gone. Really wish I still had it. As a fellow over-packer, I so admire your packing skills.
I always over pack & I'm NEVER sorry...lol. I am impressed with how much you packed in your blue case & you did it so well. I hope you have a wonderful time in Vegas with a safe trip there & back. Seeing you in vintage dress really brightens my day. I guess it just makes me think of happier times in our country. Thank you so much for sharing your vintage life with all of us.
Happy Birthday🥳💕💕 Hope you have a wonderful trip to Vegas. Love Vegas got married there and gone many times to Slot Tournaments. Saw Wayne Newton there and spent my thirty Burthday with him and my girlfriends. Have wonderful memories. Enjoy your trip. God bless you all. Prayers for you all to be safe. Love from Texas❣❣❣❤
Enjoy your time here!!!! Everything is reopened so CELEBRATE!!!! I live in Vegas but have not gone back to the strip since we shut down 14 months ago (all the expo & convention workers are still locked out until the international business meetings resume, basically next year.).
I also tend to over pack too. It makes sense for you to bring a lot of vintage swimwear because I'm assuming it doesn't dry as fast as modern swimwear.
The suitcases from the 1940s are amazing. What handbags are you bringing to match your day dresses and fancy dinner dress? Your channel is an inspiration to me. 1940s style is my favorite.
Just got back from a trip and decided that I need a vintage suitcase to match my grandmother's train case, because current-day luggage just doesn't cut it, so I'm so glad to see this video!
I will use your packing technique of rolling clothing when I travel to Italy next summer! I am very good and making sure things fit together well in my suitcase, just like you! It is almost like assembling a puzzle. As you showed us your fancy black dress, I could picture you in an era gone by going to a Las Vegas club with Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin headlining!
You must create quite a stir when you walk into a restaurant looking like a gorgeous movie star!
Would love to see clips of you wearing your outfits in Las Vegas. That would be a fun video.
Yes please do so!
One time I did not pack every thing, and my trip was terrible. I was cold and not prepared for the weather. Now, I'm an over packer and ready for anything.
See!! You just never know.
I froze the one time I went to vegas, was so thankful I had one pair of trousers with me! I didn’t expect it to get so cold!
If Johnny Cash went to Vegas, you might get a 3 am phone call to bail him out of the clink. I hope you have a wonderful vintage time, Laci. Stay safe and drive carefully.
Bail him out of the clink 😂😂
From glasses to pearls to color of the robes, I'M A FAN!!!!! 🥺🥺🥳🥳
Yay! Thank you!
“I know that I’m an overpacker and I’m not sorry.” 😂 Brilliant! What a dream of a video, thanks Laci. I hope you have/had a great trip. 💛
That sounds very nice I hope someday I can find a vintage suitcase set someday
My days of travelling with vintage luggage is over .My arms have thanked me for buying luggage with wheels. My vintage luggage I now use to store papers ,documents and vintage magazines. I find Shoe cleaners and dyes are great to restore old luggage. Great to have you back Laci always enjoy your videos. Hope you have a great time in Vegas.
It is hard to carry it for very long! Nice. I’ll have to see what I can do to restore them. Thank you!!
Vintage style luggage with wheels is the way to go!!
My Mom has a personalized Samsonite luggage set from the mid 60's, that she received as a graduation present.
That is such a precious kitty 🐱
Love your beautiful kitty, it is so attentive to your every move. Have a fantastic and swell time in Las Vegas. Blessings
He was such a good helper haha. Thank you!!
I’ve been an over-packer since I was a kid. Now that I have kids, I’m on a whole other level 🤣. Mommy is always prepared!
You could not have uploaded this at a better time-I JUST found two vintage suitcases on the side of the road!!!
Wow, good find! People in my area are sorting out stuff and putting it at the side of the road a lot because everybody's bored during lockdown 😁 I already found some great stuff in the last few months!
You’re brave! I watch too many true crime shows to pick up luggage from the side of the road! 😉
@@riggs20 YES I WAS WORRIED ABOUT THIS TOO AHH
You found treasure! 🌞
As someone who plays in the SCA, there is no such thing as overpacking! Be proud of your overpacking, we are all with you.
Thank goodness I'm not the only person that packs 436 pieces for like a 2 day trip. Never know how many time you'll need extra underpants.
Hope you have a great break, I've always loved fifties style but only worn it occasionally, thanksr to youtubers like yourself I am now gradually changing my wardrobe over to all fifties/forties styles, of course it helps working full time in a charity shop.
Oh that’s awesome! You get the first peek at the treasures!
They should come out with a vintage luggage line with wheels. Luggage with wheels is definitely one practical and welcome update, and I don't think anyone would willingly go back.
You could put them on yourself . Most home decor and hardware places sell them . That would look pretty cool ! I know i wouldn't want to go back .
Theres Some modern ones on Amazon!
I have friends that go on a trip with a carry on. Can't do it. Love your blue and white dress!
I honestly love how she leaves the mistakes in her vids when trying to come up with the right way to say something and the pauses when thinking. To me it is more relatable than a highly edited vid

Might need to rent a small trailer. Babies have a ton of cargo.

Thumbs up Lacy, you are awesome. I loved seeing your awesome dresses.
Always teased for overpacking. But when someone needs something, they all come my way.

Yup I am one of the overpacking fraternity 😁 my kitty knows when he sees the bags something is up, we catch him trying to sneak in ! 😍😎🇫🇷

Ziplock freezer bags for shoes! Love the Luggage!
That blue luggage is beautiful! And love that sheer day dress😍 Vintage life is the best life (or something like that 😂)
Thank you! I love using it!
I dont think of MYSELF as "vintage", but these were the suitcases I used as a kid, every vacation and summer camp. Suddenly Im feeling very old again. 😏
Me too!
Oooweee, I remember carrying those heavy suitcases back in the day! I admire your dedication to the vintage lifestyle though.
I had the entire set of blue Samsonite, it was my high school graduation gift in 1974! It is long gone...I’d give anything to have it back! Loved it!
I always loved those round suitcases you see women carry in the 60s. I guess they were for hats?
I live in Vegas (born and raised). I hope you have/had a fun trip while you’re here! ☺️
Oh awesome! Thank you. It was a wonderful getaway.
I could almost smell the moth balls when you opened that first Samsonite. My grandmom gave me a suitcase like that when I was little and I can still remember opening it and being reminded of her house just from the scent.

I absolutely live the blue dress. It's definitely one my mom would have worn.
My Mom and Nana had train cases, one similar to yours..Wish I had them as a keepsake. Great job of packing! Have fun in Vegas;

We used the blue grey middle suitcase into the 90s. One time in the 80s we were going on a trip and my mom forgot to put the case in the trunk and my dad ran over it. They had a big argument and never ended up going.

The suitcases from the 1940s are amazing. What handbags are you bringing to match your day dresses and fancy dinner dress? Your channel is an inspiration to me. 1940s style is my favorite.
I remember those bags! I packed all my family’s toiletries in the train case.
Have a wonderful time and you all be safe. 😸
Great luggage collection. Love that little Rosemary/Vera make up bag! Hope you have a great time.
Enjoy your trip
