I have the Quest 1, so I'm due for an upgrade. I kinda want to go for a native PCVR headset, but it doesn't seem Valve will be releasing anything anytime soon, so I'm very *very* tempted by the Quest 3.
Higher performance in a smallet package, definitely looks great. What I'm most intetested in is tracking, I'm quite skeptical about the lack of rings on the controllers, and I don"t see any cameras pointing up. So yeah, tracking. In Beat Saber of course, but also maybe a climbing game, where your arms are pointed up a lot.

I love how everyone is calling the Y-Strap new, but it seems to be a throwback to the Quest 1 which also had a Y-Strap and was also possibly the best stock strap we have ever had, which became apparent after the Quest 2 came out. I've preordered the Quest 3 with the elite strap (which I am hoping doesn't crack like a lot of the Quest 2 ones) but I am so excited. Less than two weeks to go!
Quest 1's strap wasn't the same at all... It was semi-rigid rubberized plastic (fucking yuck, Quest 1's comfort was absolutely HORRENDOUS) and the "Y-strap" wasn't at all adjustable like a real Y-strap is... because it was made of semi-rigid molded plastic. They really aren't the same thing like even a bit. 🤷 If your head didn't fit the ONE shape of the Quest 1's mold, you were completely SOL. Here otoh, you can adjust to at least SOME extent where exactly it grips the back of your head. Most reviewers, as well as myself found even Quest 2's cloth strap more comfortable than a stock Quest 1 ever was.
I had a Quest 2, but I found it too uncomfortable to wear on a regular basis. I wound up selling it last year because I barely used it. I REALLY like that the Quest 3 is much, much smaller and streamlined. And I love that it's reverse compatible with Quest 2 games. I don't know if I'll get the 3 right away, but I'm definitely considering it.
Motion sickness is dependent on the user. Anyone with their VR legs won't have an issue unless there's a problem with the unit. As VR progresses, newer headsets won't cause motion sickness due to hardware any longer. That's a thing of the past.

The mention of a rebuild of as you said “…a ‘90s game” gives me the ever so slightest bit of that MAYBE my dream of seeing really fun old school DOS games that have all but been forgotten about, get brought back from video purgatory and rebuilt as a full first person VR game, isn’t as half baked as I thought. If I had my druthers, my first pick would be Day of the Tentacle and its other old school LucasArts cloned games get a VR rebuild. Might be good nostalgia bait to draw in Gen-Xers and older Millennials into VR. Please feel free to pass that along to any devs if you so wish… 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

All you need to do to be able to mod Beat Saber on Quest as much as your heart desires is simply enable/turn on Developer Mode access to enable sideloading support, and then simply sideload any/whatever modified Beat Saber .APK's (aka installer files) you wish to/of your choosing. 🤷 And this applies even to .APK files that you manually modify 100% by yourself, if doing such is actually within your ability range. (Which tbh, considering you didn't even know that Beat Saber modding on Quest is even possible AT ALL, I highly, HIGHLY doubt that to actually be the case... 🤷) All that said, occasionally new Quest OS updates will break modded game installs, but this only happens accidentally and just until the modder can update the specific modified .APK installer for their mod to be based off the latest official Beat Saber build, vs whatever older version it was previously using that suddenly doesn't work with the latest Quest OS update. 🤷
The prescription lense is a game changer for me 😂. I love my prescription lenses for my Quest 3 and sad I gotta buy it again, but hey hope this one helps.
7:15 it isnt lighter but because it is smaller and dont extend so far from the head the center of gravity is closer and it does feel lighter and more confortable

Eye & face-tracking still aren't supported by basically anything that actually matters yet. By the time those features actually start to catch on, Quest 4 will be right around the corner packing both sensor suites. Get the Quest 3. The MASSIVELY SLOWER internal hardware in Quest Pro will age HORRENDOUSLY quicker and already be dramatically worse in actual game/app experience on DAY ONE!
How did the new elite strap feel -- the same? I'm just looking for a light and strong strap that keeps my headset from slipping. I'm a rhythm gamer, but I love to move a lot, so my quest 2 had a tendency to slide down.

Doing anything that involves judging precise Z-axis distances through Quest 2's passthrough is LITERALLY FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE!!! And NUMEROUS people who have gone hands on have discussed how Quest 3's brand new depth sensor COMPLETELY fixes this problem for them entirely, with shockingly accurate depth perception of objects visible across almost (but not quite) all of the lens (still getting wonky at the very lens edges).

The vision pro Doesn't do anything revolutionary in function but the passthrough and occlusion is so good it will feel more premium and futuristic than any other vr device on the market. It actually feels like there are holograms even if they can only do what an iPad does it still feels like goggles that let you see real objects in your space.
the smart guardian looks cool but how does it cope in a small space,.. will it constanty be reminding you that youre about to hit something? I have a tiny bedroom with mininum standing space so I have to play vr sitting on my bed, so i'm concerned that its not going to let me use the headset or is going to complain alot about the guardian
There's almost surely going to be a stationary mode similar to the Q2. That's how I spend most of my time even when I'm standing because I like the circle at my feet better than the painted boundry/walls.
The thing has full blown inside-out body tracking support for the full upper body (everything waist-up, w/ the legs generated by an AI based on that) coming in a few months! Aka, it's the exact opposite situation actually, Quest 3's tracking will absolutely REVOLUTIONIZE games like Gorilla Tag!!! (Assuming developers actually add-in the inside-out full body tracking support ofc. 🤷)

Meta's ALWAYS known that full-blown dual display panel headsets with fully movable displays & lenses are "the best"! The ONLY reason they did something different with Quest 2 is that they needed SOME WAY to hit the INSANELY AGGRESSIVE $299 price point target, and going single display panel was literally the ONLY POSSIBLE WAY to pull that off. 🤷 In fact, Quest 2 would have had basically the same exact $499 price point as Quest 3 ($449 at BEST) if it had also had to have a dual movable display panel design like Quest 1 & CV1! And you can expect next year's "Quest 3 Lite" that's heavily rumored to replace the Quest 2 at the ≈$299 price point to have the same exact single display panel design as the headset it's replacing. 🤷 (Although this time almost surely with fully movable lenses for MUCH more accurate IPD adjustment vs being locked into just 3x preset positions ala Q2.)
I have loved samba the amigo, since the first time I played on arcade, when they announced for wii I was happy but the tracking was not good enough, now its coming to meta and that makes me so happy, btw, have you tried dancing arrows? Is similar to beat saber but the music is kpop had a hard time adapting to beat saber until dancing arrows, got me in sync and then I was able to play beat saber smoothly, now I keep jumping from one to the other to get better, I currently play on expert on beat saber and 280 bpm on dancing arrows, hope to get to expert+ and 320, I watched videos for years but only recently was able to get into it, now is my main workout
idk if i will get it because my quest two is perfectly fine but an upgrade would be better and that Xbox could gaming or whatever i NEED THAT but the controllers i use on the quest two are the quest pros and if i get a new headset they are kinda backup controllers or the ones i never use so still thinking

Yes, obviously. That's the major selling point of XR. Q2 has nearly perfect depth perception, and even the Q1 is great for XR.

And you can expect next year's "Quest 3 Lite" that's heavily rumored to replace the Quest 2 at the ≈$299 price point to have the same exact single display panel design as the headset it's replacing. 🤷 (Although this time almost surely with fully movable lenses for MUCH more accurate IPD adjustment vs being locked into just 3x preset positions ala Q2.)
Gotta wait a week or 2 til can preorder it hopefully I'll still be able to pick up a copy before it's sold out to bots and scalpers

Also a barf-fest. I wouldn't recommend that to anyone. Better to try the Half Life 2 VR mod. It's much more refined, and easy to play.

I have loved samba the amigo, since the first time I played on arcade, when they announced for wii I was happy but the tracking was not good enough, now its coming to meta and that makes me so happy, btw, have you tried dancing arrows? Is similar to beat saber but the music is kpop had a hard time adapting to beat saber until dancing arrows, got me in sync and then I was able to play beat saber smoothly, now I keep jumping from one to the other to get better, I currently play on expert on beat saber and 280 bpm on dancing arrows, hope to get to expert+ and 320, I watched videos for years but only recently was able to get into it, now is my main workout
idk if i will get it because my quest two is perfectly fine but an upgrade would be better and that Xbox could gaming or whatever i NEED THAT but the controllers i use on the quest two are the quest pros and if i get a new headset they are kinda backup controllers or the ones i never use so still thinking
