Thanks Alan, for taking us along to the Steam Gala, it was fantastic. It was also great to see the Atkinson tractor unit that delivered Peter Pan as when I was a lad I'd visited the factory in Preston, Lancashire several times in my dad's Bedford tk wagon during my summer holidays delivering components. I used to accompany my dad during the holidays in between working on farms or fishing during the summer holidays in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Hi Stevie. I’m glad it brought back some fond memories. Must have been a very interesting period for you back then. As I’ve said before memories can’t be taken away. All the best, take care.
That was very special Alan thank you very much. Of course, seeing the small steam engines is excellent but my favourite is always viewing the large standing pumping engines and getting up close because they always seem to be living things rather than just machines. Once again thank you. Bye for now. Stephen
I’m glad you enjoyed this second part. That’s the magic of steam engines, they are alive! Hope you’re keeping well and managing to get out and about during this bout of miserable weather. All the best, take care.
Morning Alan, those old engines are really special. How beautiful did Peter Pan look, gorgeous. It's funny, isn't it? I'm sitting here on a horrible January day, and you have transported me to a lovely summer day full of nostalgia, just by watching your video. A very welcome change, thank you...🍷🍷
I even watched it myself Steve, and can understand what you're saying, as the weather is so miserable at the moment, it did rather brighten up my day! Graham Morris keeps Peter Pan in beautiful condition. All the best.
Hi Alan Thanks for showing this and on a lovely day as well , Back in 1960 I was relief driver for a Sand and Ballast Company and one of my jobs was to drive a Simplex loco with eight Hudson skip wagons ,It was a nice job in the summer but a bugger in the winter. Cheers.
That sounds great fun, our Simplex came from Minworth Sewage Treatment Works and was designed with a position for a banksman to stand on, and stop the traffic. Cheers
Hi Alan, You put that together really well. It looks like there was so much there to see. I would have had a ride. I also loved all of the model railways. Well done. xx
It was all happening down on the Levels at Weston Zoyland Pumping Station ,steam everywhere you looked, .locomotives galore of all sizes. I was in heaven as well as all the crowd in attendance. Great vlog Alan, when I heard that Lister I expected Heidi and her Narrow boat to appear any moment. Cheers Alan ,still very mild here 2c at 3pm just a dusting of snow
Hi Ralph, I'm glad you're having mild weather. I always relate the Lister sound to the Railtrucks and not the marinised version. I met Heidi at a boat vloggers meal before Christmas. Hope you're keeping well, thanks for commenting.
Thanks Bob. It was a great weekend, there's so much more there than I showed, as I didn't go into the Exhibition Hall or show other exhibits on ths occasion. Thanks for watching and commenting, cheers.
Hello Alan. Very, very interesting piece of film. I had no idea that place existed. What a gem and such a wonderful collection of beautiful old steam engines. Getting Peter Pan back onto the lorry looked a little precarious. I imagined they would use a winch.
I’m glad you both enjoyed it. I didn’t film in the Exhibition Hall where many of the stationary engines are located. I too thought a winch might have been used but Graham has done it so often, he’s certainly got the knack! Cheers
Peter Pan was a good crowd puller. I hope it was worth all the hard work put in by all you volunteers, it looked good fun. The loading up of Peter Pan at the end was expertly done. I was a bit concerned as he sped up the track onto the truck, didn’t think it was going to stop
Thanks Paul, it was a great weekend, so definitely worth it. I had imagined the loco would be winched on to the lorry, so I think we were all surprised as to how it was done. Peter Pan is said to be the most travelled loco in the country, so Graham is well used to doing it. Cheers
Hi Alan that was an excellent part two much more to see & the Peter Pan was an excellent engine to have on display. I was an amazing day out for the people that attended & so glad you showed this part two. Take care.
That’s very kind of you to say Bob. Peter Pan was 100 years old last year and is said to be the most travelled loco in England, as it makes a lot of visits around the country. All the best.
That was great. There isn’t a lot of live steam narrow gauge railways in Australia. We have a couple of heavy gauge museums which do tours. But nothing like this. Thank you for this
Hi Alan what a lovely day out, fascinating how it all works. It’s a pity there’s not more steam trains on our network know. We do have a very good one in our town at Norchard Forest of Dean. It’s well supported as well. Have great week 😊
Hi Sandy, thanks for watching and commenting. I think we're lucky having so many preserved railways dotted about. It's a long while since I've been to the Dean Forest Railway. All the best, take care.
Very interesting vlog Alan. If those Hudson type wagon were actually built by Robert Hudson Ltd. at Gildersome in West Yorkshire there is a possibility that my father could have welded them
Hi Nick, I couldn't really say. Boilers tend to get tested both in and out of steam. You would need to enquire of a boiler inspector or a traction engine group.
Incredibly well produced video. Stable shots, good lighting, good transitions, excellent editing choices. I felt like I was there. 20 minutes ago I didn't know this museum existed, and now I want to visit it VERY much. If only it were an afternoon drive from California!
Greetings to you Greg in California. Thank you so much for your appreciation, everything is filmed on the hoof, so one never knows quite how the footage will come out. I am a Trustee of the charity that runs the Museum and have been involved for 17 years. Apart from the 1st part, No.309, you might also wish to look at No.273 Hot Stuff filmed at our weekend event in the Summer of 2022. I also have a Playlist covering Steam, Museums etc. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Many thanks, I'm not sure it had a name originally, possibly just a works number. Bought by Devon County Council in 1929, the same year as Peter Pan was published. So it must have been named then or shortly after.
Fantastic day out for folk that could make it to the event. Loved Peter Pan, what a cutie. Thank you. Cheers.
Thanks Jane, I’m glad you enjoyed watching. Peter Pan is beautifully kept.

Nice bit of "sunshine" on cloudy day here in Regina. Much appreciated 👍

I really enjoyed that Alan, so interesting. So that’s how a little steam engine is transported. Thx for sharing. Kate 💙🙋♀️
Hi Katelyn, thanks for watching. I thought it was a neat little rig to transport the loco. All the best, take care 💙💙
Thank you, love the steam most enjoyable 🙏✝️🙏
Thank you James, glad you enjoyed watching.

Hi Alan. Thoroughly enjoyable Vlog again. Very entertaining. Well done
Many thanks Russ, good of you to say. Cheers
Well done Alan, another great day out.
Glad you enjoyed it Hugh, thanks for your comment.

Hermoso lugar 💯❣️
Hola Alan saludos desde Puerto Rico
Saludos a ti y un Feliz y Saludable Año Nuevo, mis mejores deseos Alan
Good video Alan, looks like a real nice day out. Peter Pan did well, I also liked the "0" gauge model. Clearly you enjoyed yourself 👍. Bob

I really enjoyed this one but then I enjoy everything you do hugs as always:)))

Glad you enjoyed it Sandra, all the best.
Great vlog Alan as usual 👍
Thanks so much Martin 👍

Very interesting vlog Alan. If those Hudson type wagon were actually built by Robert Hudson Ltd. at Gildersome in West Yorkshire there is a possibility that my father could have welded them
Thanks Keith, I know they’re not all Hudsons but that’s interesting to know. The tanker on the incline is on a Hudson chassis.
Hi Alan, I don’t suppose you know how much it is to have a boiler integrity tested? Small traction Engine.
Hi Nick, I couldn't really say. Boilers tend to get tested both in and out of steam. You would need to enquire of a boiler inspector or a traction engine group.
@@MyNarrowboatVenture will do, thought it might be similar to BSC for boats. As in a going rate.
@@nickevans1698 It's not a side I get involved in, there may well be a ball park figure for traction engines (large or small). Cheers
