Good morning Alan what a wonderful video. It brought back so many happy memories. My dad worked on a farm in Herefordshire and I can remember the bale maker and dad loading it up with the straw. Also caught a brief glimpse of a swede turner which we kids used to load it with sugar beat wonderful happy days. 🙏 thank you.
Many thanks Paul, I'm glad you enjoyed watching, it's something different for viewers. My next one is even more different! All the best to one of my long standing followers, cheers.
Thank you so much for sharing, such a wonderful place, thank you to all the volunteers, for all you do so we, all can see those brilliant machines 🙏✝️👏👍🙏🇨🇦
Alan, my wife and I really enjoyed this video. Thank you so much for doing this. We are long time subscribers and love all of our videos. Keep up the excellent videos. Donna & David Sheets from Florida
Greetings Donna and David, thanks for your great message, I am aware you often comment, many thanks for your ongoing support and encouragement, all the best Alan.
That was absolutely fantastic. I grew up with steam trains rumbling through our valley and have always been drawn to steam engines of all sorts. One of my jobs was to go down to the line to collect fallen coal for our fires. Really enjoyed seeing the traction engine, one of my favourites. Thank you. Cheers.
Morning Alan, fascinating stuff...you certainly make a huge effort to show a variety of topics on the channel. This looks like a really interesting day out and great fun for the children too...many thanks for sharing...🍷🍷
That was so interesting, thanks Alan. So many things to look at. When I saw the vintage cars, I saw a black A35. As a child, we had a grey A35. We had it for years and years. It had an indicator control in the middle of the dashboard, and my Dad used to tell me which way to turn it and when. It always brings back so many memories when I see an A35. xx
That’s good of you to say Steve, many of the volunteers have been involved for 10 years or more and recently we have a number of new volunteers. All the best.
Loved the vlog! I appreciate all your non canal, historical, and touring vlogs. You British have a stronger appreciation for history than we Americans. Love all the old stuff, especially the steam engines and old trains. Fantastic!
It's very easy to come across the old stuff in the UK. Especially buildings. Where I live the oldest house was built in around 1580. There's some houses that were rebuilt in the 1800s. I think because there's so much packed into such a small country it's very easy for people to get together for things like this. It's much easier to travel round and see things. Be it to see villages 500 years old or to goto fairs like this.
Wow, thank you so much, there are dedicated bands of volunteers all over the country preserving our industrial heritage. We don't get any public funding although we can compete for grants for specific projects. Cheers
Good day to you Alan i have to say enjoyed that very much that would be a very entertaining weekend. Have been to steam fairs in the past & enjoyed them very much well done excellent viewing, Take care.
Great display put on there I've watched a lot of video on Fred Dibnah he was a one of a kind guy . Big job there you all did keeping people out of all the moving parts
Snap! When I saw the Cibie Super Oscars on the Imp. I rallied with them on our Anglia 105E that had full GT Cortina running gear. Very competitive back in the 1970s! BTW, Love any steam engine. Love the heat and the smell of hot oil, smoke and steam. Good one. Thanks.
Like me, I'm glad the Cibié lamps brought back some fond memories. I never had a traditional rally car although mine were fitted with roll cages, sump guards and other modifications. I used to navigate in minis mainly. Thanks for watching and commenting.
What a smashing day it looked. I've loved steam engines ever since I was a young lad and I saw a steam-driven boat on the River Thames but it was the smell of the engine that I liked the most. Super video Alan thank you for sharing. All the best and bye for now. Stephen
Hi Alan. Great job today on the steamers. Like I told you before about the old Threshers meet in Iowa. Enjoyed seeing this today. Lot of history. Very nice video.
Looks like a great time. We have similar shows on this side of the pond. A nice video about the pumping station and explain what a Class 2 structure is. I have heard the historic buildings have different class rating on other channels if you would help us Americans and educate us. Thanks
Many thanks Donald. Our listing system comprises three main Grades. Grade I covers about 2.5% of all listed buildings. Grade II covers most of the remainder but Grade II* buildings (like the pumping station) are of exceptional interest and account for just under 6% of buildings. We also have buildings of Architectural Interest and Scheduled Monuments. I hope that helps a little. A Google search will explain a lot more. All the best, thanks for commenting.
@@MyNarrowboatVenture Allen thanks for the reply. You are doing a great job with your channel. I like the variety and the historical content you have mixed into the channel. The cooking episodes are a lot more interesting then making a " cheese sandwich". Your chef is very pleasant and brings an elegance to the channel. I look forward to the new adventures the both of you share in the future
@@rescueraver That's very kind of you to say Donald, Jasmine has definitely added another dimension to the channel. Thanks for your further comment, take care.
Hi Alan, hope you're keeping well. It's become a popular event on the calendar, small and friendly, unlike some of the larger events. All the best, take care.
Another excellent vlog Alan, I visited the Museum with you before in another vlog. As its near my Sister who lives in Ilminster I hope to visit in person the next time I visit her .As I sailed on several steam powered ships it always amazed me how small the modern turbines were compared to the massive beam engines I've seen in several places and all powered by boiling water in a glorified kettle we use everyday for making that essential in life ,yes a nice cup of tea. Thanks. Alan have you taken Jasmine to Weston Zoyland yet? Happy cruising take care . Cheers from Canada and me really warm here going to hit 30c on Sunday busy planting my gardens today, regards to Jasmine looking forward to another cookery vlog.
Hi Ralph, I think that was when we had our Railway Gala last year on the August Bank Holiday. This year for that event we have a visiting steam loco! Not had the chance to take Jasmine there yet. Your weather has improved considerably, there is another cooking vlog in the offing, all the best, cheers Alan.
Nice video! And your comment at 9:38 cannot be dropped in so casually and then left with no follow-up! I know yours is a narrowboat channel but if you're ever at another car show where you can connect to stories of your rallying days, please share!
What an unusual place name. Any idea of its origin? Good to see you had a decent turn out for your event. Thanks for showing us around, very interesting and a great collection you’ve amassed. Well done to all of the volunteers
My understanding is that Zoyland means island and relates back to the River Sowy, some of the villages hereabouts are on raised ground, hence the island connotation. We probably now have the largest collection of working steam and engines and pumps in England. Many thanks for your comment and appreciation.
Love your vlogs.this may seem out from left field, but I have been wondering…what do the zig zag lines on the UK roads mean? We don’t have them in the USA. We need more of Jasmine, too!
Hi Barbara, we have zig-zag lines by school entrances and on the approach to pedestrian crossings and they mean no parking at any time, or picking up and setting down children. I think they're the ones you're referring to. There will be another cooking video shortly.
What a fascinating exhibition Alan , it must be very interesting for you volunteering. I was interested to hear that you used to do a bit of rallying , what car did you have?
Thanks Martin. I navigated in Minis and an A30. My cars weren't actually bought for rallying, but I rallied an Austin 1100 and a Ford Corsair (which had been my father's car). Both were equipped with roll cage and sump guard.
A great video - thanks. (Next time please pan a bit further and slower around some of the libe exhibits - 'cos I cant see what some of the levers / wheels/ and thrupple nuts do......
Glad you enjoyed it Henry. This was just to give a flavour of the event, not an in depth look and there are unfortunately time constraints. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Thanks Alan...
Everytime I see British steam I think of Fred Dibnah, an amazing man.
He was very popular over here, his widow Sheila visited the Museum in 2012.
Love steam engines Alan Thank you.
