There is a township next to where I live that has three of these sirens. They don't use them for fire activations anymore but I used to hear them go off when I was growing up.
@ffjsb They also have pagers. Many long Island fire departments still use sirens and air horns to alert the public to an alarm, even though they are modernized and have other paging systems in place.
@fdnylover Yes, this is from the East Farmingdale volunteer fire department, on the Nassau/Suffolk county border on Long Island...they are a very busy, all volunteer department that covers a heavily industrial and commercial area.
thats a structure signal do u guys have the Still/ Full Still/ Box/ 2-11 response system like a Still Response would be 2 engines, 1 truck, 1 ambo, 1 squad, 1 BC, etc?

I was looking at fire horns and then came across this beautiful thunderbolt 1003!
Drew, MS used the same for it's fire siren...20 miles away in Cleveland, this was how the tornado siren sounded....
those sounds pretty neat my old time had a Thunderbolt. I dont believe they still have it anymore. I think it got relace. It was thunderbolt 1003
how sweet the sound
Youd be surprised how loud T-bolt blowers are in real life, if your standing on the ground, they are louder than the siren itself!!
Interesting, don't see many departments still using sirens. Do they have pagers also or just the sirens?
