Congratulations y'all! That baby is so loved already. I've been in the parenting game for 20 years now and my best advice to you is this....
1. It's okay to put the baby down in a safe spot and walk away to gather your bearings.
2. As long as your child is alive at the end of the day, you're doing a good job. Give yourself credit.
3. Make date nights mandatory. It's so easy to get wrapped up in Parenthood, don't forget to keep dating each other. It'll make your relationship stronger.
4. Trust your instincts Every kid is different. What works for one won't work for another..
5. It's 100% okay to abandon the shopping cart in the aisle when the kid has a meltdown.
Y'all are gonna be fine. Enjoy the journey. It is the hardest yet most rewarding thing I've ever done in my life. I wouldn't trade being a mom for anything. They are my greatest blessing. ♥️

The best advice I received as a new parent was to never go to bed angry with each other. Having a baby is stressful. Always make times for yourself and for each other. Don’t lose yourself like I did. I always put myself last and you can’t do that all the time. Lastly, cherish each moment because it goes soooo fast. Before you know it your baby will graduating high school lol. Love you guys.
No ALWAYS go to bed when you're angry! Sleep off the anger and you'll be rational in the morning
Agree for the most part, love the emphasis on saving time for eachother and cherishing the wee one. Little ones are only that small once and you only have one for that time, if you have more it's shared time as new littles arrive. It took about 2 years before hubby and I got really settled as parents but also remembering then that we were still husband and wife and were lovers before all that. The stronger the foundation with parents, the more secure baby will feel💖
And choose your battles.

I also heared this advice and I think it's really good. One of my exes told me that her mother told him this as a motherly advice I guess, but I agreed to do it, so we always had to make up, we told each other why we are mad and we solved the problem because we "had to", cuz we agreed to this rule, and I think it worked out really good, going to sleep stressed or angry and frustrated you simply won't get a good sleep
A puppy is NOTHING like a child. I kind of evil laugh because Ryland is going to get the biggest awakening. So excited for them but you never stop being a parent.
Agreed! A child is so much more then having a puppy/dog. Every stage of life has it challenges and its a life time role to be a parent....but it can be so rewarding :)
You even worry about them when they’re asleep at school. Scenarios that might never happen.

I have never felt more like part of a family than I do here. Watching Shane when I was younger, then everyone meeting Ryland, we were there when they got Honey, when they got engaged, when they moved house each time and more. Now we’ve watched them get Riley and now their first child is soon to come. Small things like everyone’s birthdays just feel special and seeing their families gives a even more homey feeling. They have raised so many of us making sure we feel loved and happy over the years and I have no doubt on this Earth they will be the best parents. I want to thank them for everything, they deserve the world. ❤️

I had the same kind of feels! I was tearing up watching mom and dad help Ryland with the plant nursery and soon the baby nursery! Time is so very fleeting and I lost both my parents back to back so this hit me in the feels and just made me think to cherish EVERY moment with friends and family. You won't get the time back. Love to see your family grow fur and human babies! xo

I’m really loving this new shane. i can tell he’s happy and confident and I’m living for it.
My advice is have a whole formula set up in the nursery. We had to formula feed our first and we would bring like 6 clean bottles, water, and formula all in the nursery. Running to the kitchen multiple times a night caused hubby and I to really argue. Also pick like 3 lullaby songs and don't stray from those 3. Really helps the baby to get in the routine of hearing the song and going to sleep. Good luck so happy for you guys!

I have a 4mo, he’s my first and I thought I was prepared and I was not. I got a puppy a year and a half before having him and I’ve babysat and worked in a daycare since I was like 12. Nothing can truly prepare you I promise you that. But it gets so much easier after the first 3 months. They’re finally starting to understand that they’re no longer in the womb and attached to mom and their personality starts to show and it’s so amazing. Just push through the sleep deprivation and you’ll do great!💕
When we had our first baby I thought I was mentally and emotionally prepared as well. Def was NOT! Lol it was a rough transition!
It doesn't get easier in 3 months. Don't lie. My daughter is now 22 and it is finally getting easier.

being a parent can be so so draining. that first year i barely got any sleep or time to do anything for myself. couldn’t even find the time to shower everyday. but it was such a wonderful experience. the best advice i received was to take breaks and not feel guilty for taking them. i was glued to my son 24/7 but my mother always encouraged me to go out and do something for myself at least once a week without my son. never ever forget that whether you’re a parent or not, you’re still your own person and your needs and mental health are just as important.
When I miss Shane I come here and yknow this is the happiest he’s ever been. Thank you for making all his dreams come true. We love you all
The fact that Shane mentioned upside down by jack johnson is crazy because I play that song for my baby girl everytime she’s eating her dinner and she absolutely loves watching us dance to it! So babies also love that song! 😆
I'm a mom of two girls (3 and 4 years old) and I would love to see you guys with a Baby Simulating Doll for a week. Getting up at night taking care of it & going out of the house, all the works!

I’m so so happy for you guys! I really hope you guys decide to share the whole journey, and what it all entails. It would be great informative content but also something so sweet to reflect on later in life.
ALSO so off topic, but when I got my puppy I asked a lot of questions to my vet friend and when crate training, if you give Riley a treat when she enters and/or give her toys to play with in the crate (supervised) and not shutting the door in a hurry, closing it slowly or just a little bit at a time- it makes it her safe space, instead of her feeling like it’s a punishment or dreadful being in there! My dog goes to his crate all of the time, without me even saying anything now. I hope that helps! ❤️
I've been watching Shane since the beginning of his channel and growing with him and Ryland has been amazing. I'm a mom now and it's the most life-changing and wonderful experience. As a mom of 3 kiddos. It’s crazy and amazing at the same time. Also wine becomes your best friend on the weekends. Babies are hard and you need to be there 24/7 for them. Also say goodbye to sleep lol you’ll also be up super early everyday! I have a 9,5, and 6 month old and I have yet to sleep a full night!
Congrats I have 4 daughters myself and there's nothing more satisfying at the end of the day then going home to your family. Family is EVERYTHING.

Stagger when the plants will bloom continually throughout the seasons. And definitely listen to your mom. She sounds like she knows a lot about gardening. You might need a drip line for watering them since the roof overhang protects the area. Another trick for areas where you want to change things seasonally or the season is short is to dig a hole large enough for a pot to sit in and not be visible and then you buy the plants/flowers and just insert them in the pot and all into you put in the planter or area that you want to be able to change them out . You can also harvest the seeds from the previous plant/flower and save them to replant the items if they don’t go dormant and come back again. You have the space on your property for a small green house structure which would allow you to grow plants for your house and garden as well as vegetables and smaller fruit trees if they can’t grow outside due to the weather conditions. If I could I would have a decent garden in raised beds in a greenhouse type of structure because I enjoy growing things and had a nice garden and landscaping in our first home, but my allergies suddenly became extremely severe and even deadly on a few things which made spending time outside a form of torture that caused me to be sick and take weeks to recover. Many people don’t appreciate the things they take for granted until they can’t do it because it adversely affects them mentally,physically, and emotionally.

Completely agree! And to add on, a puppy grows up so quick, and then you can expect them to just kind of stay the same once they're a grown dog. Where with a baby, once they're out of one stage, you're on to the next phase of their life. So it's always simultaneously getting somewhat easier, but also harder all throughout parenthood, with all the new stages. 😅

New momma here. My daughter is 7 weeks old and man. It's definitely a full time job but once you get on a schedule with baby and learn all the tricks of making things easier for when you feed them and do the whole 9 yards every few hours when they need it you will be fine. Sleep when they sleep and just give them all the love you possibly can. They will be your heart and soul and cherish every moment with them. They will not be tiny forever. Good luck you guys! Having a child is absolutely nothing like a dog. I thought the same thing when I was 15 after I had taken care of a puppy/dog when when I was 13- 15, with the help of my mom. However, having a puppy while preparing for a baby is certainly better than having a baby & being responsible for a human life after having zero responsibility for a living thing prior to the baby.

We became parents 9 months ago, and I am so excited for you to experience the joy of parenthood! That being said...it is an around the clock job and the beginning can be rough (it makes me second guess another lol). But it, is, worth, it! Congratulations!
Pro tip for crate training! I literally got a puppy just last week, and we had to crate train her. The best thing that we found helps is luring the dog in with a treat, and cover the crate with blankets so she can't see out (less likely to be disturbed). And another great tip is to fill a Kong with treats, place it in when she's out of the crate, and after she goes outside to go toilet, bring her into the crate with a treat, so even if she's whining she'll eventually settle down and will have something to chew on to entertain herself with. Trust me, ignore the whining, don't endorse/encourage it, and especially don't give her praise or dote on her if she is whining ❤️❤️❤️
Can fully back this up, had our 13 week gsd pup crate trained in less than a week. I find leaving music playing helps i use rain sounds or calming music. Try adding a crate command when throwing a treat in the crate or every time you put her in she should start going in herself make it fun

My son is 10 weeks old and he is a lot different from a puppy so be prepared. However they are also both rewarding and just as cute to watch them grow, in different ways of coarse. I’m so excited and happy for you two. Your family is growing and I feel so honored to be able to follow your journey into fatherhood. My advice as a parent is to never make any big decisions, relationship wise, the first year after having a baby. It is an adjustment, even if you have the easiest baby in the world. Take everything with a grain of salt. They grow so fast. Soak everything in, be with the moment. I think you guys will be excellent parents ❤️

Omg you guys will love every single second when your baby is born ❤️ I recommend an electric swing, a blanket you sleep with for your baby, and holding your newborn is KEY! They know nothing else. You should make the crate a happy place to be and not make it feel like a punishment. Put her favourite toy in there and feed her but leave the crate open. Start with the food closest to the door and gradually move it further into the crate until she’s inside and eating. Eventually she will learn it’s her safe space and go in when she wants alone time or to feel safe.

Yes! I have one child and and one fur baby. I thought having a puppy was definitely harder! The only thing that evens it out is that the puppy stage only lasts a few weeks, but a baby is hard for a few years!

I will say, being parent is hard but the most rewarding thing. Yes it will tire you out so much and you might get to a point where you feel isolated but the joy they bring is so beautiful. My 8 month old is crawling and getting any and every thing in her mouth, she talks and is very clingy. But it felt like yesterday that she was a smoll newborn that loved to cuddle and had the cutest little cry when she just wanted to be near mommy... I have a feeling you guys will be amazing parents and will definitely have your hands full but can and will pull it off.
Raising a child is infinitely harder. Especially if they have any additional needs, which could happen to anyone.
But it's also infinitely more love than you have ever felt
