What a pretty walk! Such gorgeous countryside, quaint village w/ wonderful builds, & some amazing river views. Especially that magnificent one w/ the bridge at 11:11...just so stunning w/ the Fall colors in background. Loved the shots of the man fly fishing as it reminded me of my Dad! Something I always wished I had him teach me. He taught me a lot of fishing techniques, but unfortunately never fly fishing!😕 Oh Dave, I was about to get little salty w/ you! I thought how dare you show me a church like St. Mary's w/ that magnificent rosette stain glass window....still thinking that the churches were closed down & you would not be able to take us inside. Much to my delight & surprise you did though!!!🤗 However, I don't know that one should ever use the words "smashing" & "stained glass" in the same sentence!😳😅😉 The windows & stone work encircling the alter were amazing, but I was w/ you...all I wanted to see that rose window. I may have to save this video just so I can try to copy that window & make a chrochet pattern of it for an afghan! Loved it!!! Btw....what a good boy you are for Daddy Logan that you don't let all those barking village dogs ever work you up! What a good boy!!!! Hope Daddy gives you extra biscuits for that!😘🐶🍖
@@DaveFord I've missed seeing your videos. Taking care of my Mom full time now just keeps me so occupied that I don't get much of a chance to sit & watch YT anymore. Sadly, I have so many of yours I need to catch up w/!!!
Great video Dave. It's a gorgeous looking walk and I loved seeing the old photos. I am fascinated by the changes that happen over time so its great to see it in comparison.👏😀
Lovely look at the Itchen Dave, I expect the fly fisherman was fishing for Grayling in November as the trout are out of season. Nice restful walk thanks.
Oh yes Dave. I’ve been waiting for this one. Itchen Stoke and Ovington. I’ve have quite a few ties to that place. Firstly, both my mother and grandmother are buried in Ovington. When grandma died I was living with my first wife at Itchen Stoke, where we also got married in 1964 and my eldest son was christened there in 1967. In that churchyard lie many of the old chaps I knew and worked with. When I lived and worked there on the estate, the trains were still running. The owner of the estate then was Lord Asburton, who I think, was Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire. I’ve walked that footpath between the villages many times past the old mill just prior to The Bush Inn. Thank you for those memories.
The fish are inspiring my old love of stream fishing! No longer up to that but fun to remember. Some day hope to follow on your footsteps and see it all firsthand. Meanwhile, quite a joy to watch!
Another nice walk showing the River Itchen Dave. I'm just commenting to say that I was impressed with the story of your athletics career. I saw your interview on Kevin's channel. ( It was recommended by UA-cam.) Really great story. Well done Dave.
I’m thinking of walking this area and found this very helpful. Im coming from over the pond in Canada. I’m thinking of staying in Winchester two or three nights, would you recommend any other local village countryside walks in the area. 😊
There are some great walks near Winchester. ua-cam.com/video/JpVZdcPVJQg/v-deo.html or ua-cam.com/video/U89fDwZbtVQ/v-deo.html or (a little bit further on ) ua-cam.com/video/hWB9Jh4QCIM/v-deo.html Hope that helps!

Thank you. Yes that Rose window s something else that is for sure! In some ways it is a shame that the labyrinth is partially covered up by the altar.

Thanks Peter. The chap seemed very proficient with his casting (to my untrained eye!).
