I still got a pair of 1990 KYb 41mm forks around that have a pair of bleed holes drilled on the dampening rods, homemade punched shims, custom valve bosses, custom Nylatron rod bushings, and some other crazy stuff. These forks were from my works yz250, they lacked separate low speed adjustments so all this was to get a good soft low speed dampening without the excessive front end dive, at the same time better high speed dampening. The ports in the rebound valve were also opened up and polished. I don't have the bike anymore but still have the forks and shock. We also cut the upper shock mounts off and changed the angle of the shock.
Yup, really simple/awesome explanation. You probably needed 30 min to get into more detail. This was a tease, but i realize this gets complicated, but look forward to more info on this topic
Mais um vídeo excelente como sempre.. Não há quem explique melhor😁 Podias fazer um a falar sobre as válvulas de escape, acho que também era interessante. Abraço 😁
If you were around in the 80's and 90's you would have seen some crazy stuff done on suspension. The forks we had sucked compared to today, especially when yamaha introduced its upside down fork. The shock setups were ok stock but required a lot of valving changes to work well.
É uma muito boa sugestão! Até posso fazer dois vídeos diferentes, um a explicar como se faz (how to) e outro a explicar para que serve (offroad engineered) 😉
It is only because the damping setting is really stiff and doesn't allow almost any compression since it generates a lot of damping from nearly stopped
hi I would like to ask you, I have a kxf 450 2019, the forks harden in the middle of the stroke, is this normal? do you have any suggestion? 12click extension/16 compression..
So lets say ktm sx250f 2020 has front forks that has air in the left fork and damping in right side of fork how does that work? Does it mean that they are air forks but left forks has 3 chamber air fork and right fork does the damping part?
@@StepstoPodium glad to hear it dude, love motocross since i was a kid and alaways wanted to learn ,skill , technique and bike set up, i own a 97 Yamaha yz250 and want to finish building it again and blast my mates, cheers for all the vids , keep them rolling .

What's a works yz250?
Enjoyed this video….you earned my subscription
Thank You
Thank you Larry!🙌 There's a lot more about suspensions on the channel, enjoy it 😁💪
What cps springs do you use on enduro bikes and road bikes
Answered my question right away! Thx! Jesus bless you all!
Glad I could help! 🙂
Another awesome video!! And really wel explaining!!
thank you so much! 😁💪 don't miss the next episode, it will blow everyone's mind 😆
Excellent tutorials as always, thank you Steps to Podium, holla from Athens!
thank you so much! I really appreciate it! greetings from Porto! 😀

Thank you for that! 😁 you guys will get far more than 30 mins combined of suspension related videos in Offroad Engineered, don't worry 😉😆

Muito obrigado! 😀 vou fazer eventualmente, no te preocupes 😉 os motores não se ficaram por ali 😆
Excelente ideia! Fico à espera :)
😁😁
Ele responde em português. Que cara gente boa! Vídeos muito bons!!
That's an excelent video! Would it be okay if I used some of the drawings for a project about suspensions in my university? Thank you
As long as you don't publish any content with my footage, it's OK for you to use the drawings for uni :)
@@StepstoPodium thank you!
If you could, I would love to have access to what you are presenting! On a personal note and as a mechanical engineer 🙂
Can you explain how to make a calculated chamber
Love Offroad Engineered! Another amazing explanation! Thanks man 👍

nowadays they are fantastic off the box!
@@StepstoPodium yeah we made them work pretty well but still a far cry from modern suspension. Back in the day all the big money guys had ohlins.
@@jenpsakiscousin4589 What's Ohlins?
What's a upside down fork?
Really good, and interesting Video!

Perfect explanation , Thanks a lot
Thank you for watching! 😁 stay tuned for the next episodes! They won't disappoint 😉
sugestão para video , ensinar como fazer mistura dois tempos e suas funções .A mim faz alguma confusão entre marcas e suas recomendações

My question is that how body positioning can tackles off road undulations , please make a video about off road dynamics ,
Body ondulation?
@@StepstoPodium yes
What are body ondulations?
@@StepstoPodium i mean how to positioned our body in off road patch to maintain bike balance
What is an offroad patch?
hi, can i ask? in the AMA supercross championship the rear is very high and stiff, is it a particular calibration? or very preloaded spring?
It is only because the damping setting is really stiff and doesn't allow almost any compression since it generates a lot of damping from nearly stopped
@@StepstoPodium ok thank you for your time even if I didn't understand well😄😄

Check the tightening torque on the triple clamps
