So much misinformation going on in the comment section. 1. If you go 2-4 months without getting your hair "wet" your hair will be dry. Oil alone is not a moisturizer, so if having dry hair sounds cool to you then by all means don't get your hair wet. 2. If you live in a cold weather climate you most definitely can't go months and months without water. 3. Washing your hair doesn't dictate its thickness. How often you get it re-twisted will. 4. Genetics and hair density also play a major role in how thick your locs are. 5. Diet, exercise, water intake, stress, tension on the locs will dictate how thick locs are. There are MANY factors that go into how thick your locs are, a dirty scalp isn't one.
Lemont Newsom that was a worthless comment. Not one thing I said was wrong, and for you to say that, only means you don't know *ANYTHING* about hair or the body. Stop spreading all your misinformation and do some actual research. Thanks
I can tell you were a little upset in this video with that question... People who don't understand Locs will say the most ignorant things like that man... It's common sense to know that you supposed to wash your hair regardless. Don't sweat the negative comments bro. Just keep educating us brotha. 💯
washing is a must. people dont even know that washing locs help them lock. its not the starter loc that you have to worry about. its just keeping the original partings that causes the "locing" of the hair.
True..it is advised to wash every 3-4 weeks especially when starting locs. I think its disgusting to go 4 months without washing anything on your body. Think about it, you're putting products in your hair, at least 3 times a week including oils, that's gonna lead to buildup, and not washing that out for 4 months?? Folk keep saying I go every 6 months and what not I guarantee they probably single too...hygiene is important..point blank. Do you go every 4 months without brushing too🤢
People underestimate the the dirt in the air and dirt and chemicals everywhere else if you wouldn't stop washing your body dont stop washings your hair
Ive sisterlocks for almost a year now and I washing my hair every 2 weeks, and I started to get dandruff, now I wash once a week and my hair is CLEAN, no build up, no lent, no dandruff...
I have a question, I'm in my starter loc stage and I used the sponge method my hair is pretty thick it's a 4b and I go from 2weeks to a month without washing is that ok and why does my hair feel more locked when unwashed then eventually after i washed?
Can someone help me.I got my starter locs last week and my hair has dandruff even doe i oil n moisturize it everyday. Is it because I be around air conditioning?
Some people already said this but if you are going 3 or 4 months without washing your hair your just nasty....I have thicker locs and that's because I try not to over twist my hair...washing hair has nothing to do with thickness of locs...and there is nothing wrong with wetting your hair....that's why you use a spray bottle...People's perception of nice dreads are clearly different in these comments...you cannot compare Freeform Dreads to manicured Locs...the process and up keep are very different...I have thicker locs that are far from freeform and my process is very different from one who is freeform....you have to wash your hair if you want it to remain soft and not stiff and to avoid build up...
Bruh u gotta wash ya hair. Its HAIR. Locked or unlocked. Wash it everytime you get a retwist!!! I went two months one time just to make sure my hair was FULLY locked. Now i wash it every time i get a retwist.
I go every 2 to 4 months without washing my hair my hair don’t stink it’s well kept I tie it up at night I massage my scalp and put a mixture of 5 different growing oils in my hair and it looks good till this day the last time it was done November of last year so not true Man Washing it every month will do damage to your hair let your hair get thick Man
SirLerio yes I have had my locs for 4 years and my are longer than his is and thicker and that’s because I take Care of my hair washing your locs a lot will only thin out your locs my brother who does what Laweezeeanimal do his locs is thining and I told him you can’t wash your locs every month like that and when he start doing what I’m doing his got thicker
SirLerio it’s the best method the longer u go without your hair being wash the thicker it gets dread don’t stink as long as u take care of it doing the process laweeyanimal locs could be a little thicker but it will never be because of his method that’s what free form locs are
Jaito Gaming I think there's a benefit to both aspects. When you clean your locks they are stripped of oil so they are likely to get caught up on each other and lock better, but also when you let them freeform the roots are looser and have more ability to move, also allowing them to tangle and lock better. I personally like to wash every week and not retwist that often for for quickest results.

I think 3 weeks is the longest you should go without a wash. But every 2 weeks works just fine. A month is a bit much

I go every 2 to 4 months without washing my hair my hair don’t stink it’s well kept I tie it up at night I massage my scalp and put a mixture of 5 different growing oils in my hair and it looks good till this day the last time it was done November of last year so not true Man Washing it every month will do damage to your hair let your hair get thick Man
SirLerio yes I go with out water for about 2 to 4 months hair looks good I keep tide down at night people who are freeform locs go longer than that
Too each is own, different methods work for certain hair types. I go months also & it thickens my dreads.

Your hair is getting thick with build up
False but I feel like they locked faster when I let them "freeform" in a way

freeforming doesnt include not washing. freeforming is letting the hair growing amd not manipulating it but it must be washed
Freeform doesn't mean not washing, it means not retwisting
mannswifee washing makes root loose , we are talking about different topics lol
mannswifee u especially don't want to wash locs that aren't even locked yet , so what I'm saying is common sense if anything
