I've had my locs for 2 years now and I only wash and retwist once a month. I only use coconut oil in my hair when I retwist. I don't use a ton of product so I don't have a lot of buildup or residue in mine. People are also afraid of mold buildup if you wash too often. Mood is only an issue if you don't let your locs dry properly before tying them up. I almost never use a blow dryer. I usually get them as dry as I can with a towel and let them air dry or go in the sun.

I think she NASTY. I wash my hair once a week even when I didn't have locs. Otherwise personally my head itch and scalp get oily n sticky.
If it gets dry I would use grease rather than oil cuz grease keeps my scalp and hair motorized but time to time my hair gets super dry so that's typically what I do is grease it

you should get it washed with the retwist, other then that, once its locked after about a year you can start washing 2 weeks after every retwists.
